Ok i watched this one again and can't get enough of it. Sometimes it's not about the bloom. It's the flow and colors and shapes. I prefer your blooms over anyone else's because others put piles of paint in the middle and blow it out into what looks like the cat threw up. I enjoy this one and don't stop making them your way just because they don't look like the others' you have a unique way of doing them and we need variety so each of us can choose what style we like. :}
Geez i'm watching this one again and everytime you do this one the colors just blow me away. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong i put down my white base and my first color was arteza dart brown and it disappered into the base. Am i putting down too much base paint or is one heavier than the other? I even did the paint consistency test on a piece of cardboard and the brown was slow so i added a bit more water so that should have been fine. What happened?????
4:47 I think BOTH are beautiful!! Absolutely perfect!! I appreciate your video because it showed me how to do a blow out better than other videos I have watched.
I watched this again because i wanted to go back to the basics to figure our what i am doing wrong. I never get tired of watching this and it's just as beautiful as the first time i saw it. So I think part of the problem is i have been using such small canvases that there was no space and time for the colors to flow together so i got a few bigger ones and am going to try them out and i bought a travel hair dryer the World's Smallest Blower is cute but i think it set me back and that was so frustrating. Thanks for all the advice i will keep on keeping on. Hope you had a great holiday.
Your's is the first time I've really noticed such movement of the "blooms". Like they're spiraling around a stem. Such movement and depth!! As was said, so much more than "Just a blow out".
This piece is soooo beautiful Becca!! I love the color of this turquoise 💙 And the combo colors. I love so much the design, and the movement...it's just amazing!!! 💙🤍💙🤍
Absolutely gorgeous Becca! You've given me some motivation back after being unwell for quite a while! Cannot wait to get back down to my art room and give this a try! BTW, I LOVE those brushes and about to check them out! 💖🙏💖
This is my second comment. Because I just saw the very end. I love what you did with the white on the brush on the left side of the painting. I think it made it even better and what a lovely lovely painting😊
Gorgeous Becca! I constantly struggle with how much base paint to add. It really has caused me so much hesitation in my art journey. Thank you for giving us tips.
Thank you so much for sharing this! You are so creative what a wonderful artist that you are. I loved watching you make this the one that was like half blue and half white and then I somehow lost it and found this one and I'm so excited. It really is giving of you and generous and sweet to share how you made it it's just wonderful. God has gifted you with a beautiful talent. Also with my husband in the nursing home and the stress I have been going through it has been so relaxing watching you do this. My parents were both artists and I loved watching them work. They would have been so tickled to see you do this. God bless you in Jesus name and truly Jesus loves you! I'm sure he's smiling upon all that you are doing!! Again, thank you for sharing this.❤😊
wonderful the colors are beautiful and l've been looking for something in these colors to try l have three pieces l want to change into something new it this style l like so much
No i had housepaint for base i've seen others use it and made awesome paintings so i thought i would give it a try and since i am doing black or white bases for now i got a quart in the black and white and figured i could practice with them as base. Sorry i don't use fb or ig or really any other platform i wouldn't even know how to look someone up. I scraped it i hated it so much and trying to reuse canvas.
This turned out to awesome i didn't expect it to be so pretty. I just tried my first one ended in disaster i think my white swallowed up the other colors.
This is beautiful - Just came across your channel searching how to do a dutch pour-Love your detail and definitely will be following-Quick question-what do you use for your base and how do you mix it? Thank you for being detailed in your videos and talking through them.

Greetings! Im in love with all your work and watch your channel religiously to gain dutch pour wisdom! I am finding it difficult to gauge how much base paint to use. Im running into the exact issue you are referring to with the hard edges and i know because of this video that its due to not enough but unfortunately its too late at that point lol. Any tips or canvas paint ratio calculators you can refer me to for this technique?
I like to blow my base paint back over the pour colors before blowing it out. This ensures I have enough for the other paints to flow correctly. I don’t use a calculator for how much base paint but I believe there are some out there.
I can't figure out what i am doing wrong i did the paint drip test on cardboard and they seemed to be close in consistency but then i pour my base on and my colors immediately get swallowed by white base. I keep trying and keep scraping. How long did it take you until you did a dutch that you liked?
I can’t count the number of paintings I’ve scraped! What color and what brand of paint are you using for your base paint? Amsterdam titanium white is preferred. Artist loft will swallow your colored paints!
Krylon colormax acrylic latex house paint. I've seen kathleen miller use it as her base and hers came out fine. I'm on a budget so that's why i got the white house paint for my base and i use glue in my paints.

@@beccaharkinsart haha I'm trying hard! 😅
Genius the way you changed the painting, Becca. If this was class, your creativity would have brought an A- to a solid 4.0.
It was gorgeous and those embellishments really put the painting over-the-top

I see. I’m definitely not a bloom expert. I know Sara Taylor and Sarah Mack both do blooms!

@@beccaharkinsart, you’re very welcome.

Absolutely gorgeous! What is your favorite app to display your work in a home setting with different frames?
I’m currently using Smartist. It has the most features but I’m not sure I’d it is my favorite lol.
This turned out to awesome i didn't expect it to be so pretty. I just tried my first one ended in disaster i think my white swallowed up the other colors.
I’ve had that happen too! Did you use artist loft white as the base?
It's so beautiful. You are awesome! What kind of blow dryer would you recommend?
Here is my Amazon affiliate link to the hair dryer that I use. amzn.to/4epIeQS

Teal is a custom mix, titanium white, Amsterdam greenish blue, gold, copper, and Pebeo iridescent blue green.
Very nice..❤
Thanks 😊
Love what you do. Your finger swipes are great . every time I finger swipe it is a disaster. How do I find your base coat recipe.
I use the same recipe for my base coat as I do for all the colors.

Any time I have tried finger swipes, they dry looking like fingers have been put in the paint. 🤨
Your paints is probably too thick.
You Did Not Show how to mix the base canvas paint
Base paint is mixed the same.
Why do you call it a Dutch Pour? What's Dutch about it? The blue color?
Great question! The great Rinske Douna coined the term. She is a Dutch fluid artist and brought the technique to popularity.
@@beccaharkinsart OK. Thanks. I'm a newbie to fluid art and don't understand all the terms.
