There is much african influence in the Salsa. Salsa is a mix of rhythms like rumba cubana and Caribbean merengue. The rumba is an Afro-Hispanic rhythm that originated from the sugar plantations of Cuba. It's a mixture of rhythms and musicality of enslaved Africans from the Guinea region with flamenco guitar and Spanish folk music from the 18th and 19th centuries. The same process occurred with samba in Brazil. Rumba, Samba and modern rhythms like Salsa are a kind of cultural melting pot of spanish/portuguese, indigenous and african influences in Latin America.
Spanish & Africans are extremely talented & musically creative. When they came together in Cuba something amazing happened. Such a small island with so much talent and it keeps giving. The latest one is Reparto. Also you should try Kizomba from Angola it's also really magical. It's becoming very popular in Europe along with Bachata sensual.
You are very good dancer because you are soft and with an excellent flow, you don't tire the lady with many hand movements, you let her relax and spread out. This is excellent guidance...
