This was fun, just goes to prove you never underestimate Lewis when he goes for a military victory, Civ or otherwise.

This was great! The overlay text was really really good. I had to pause for some of them but I mean it's not like that's hard. I would absolutely LOVE to see more 7 Wonders (Duel or regular)
I love how these two are so honest during a duel and try to help each other and work it out together.
I'd love to see more of these. Something about the 2-player setting and the amazing editing makes these so good to watch. I'd like to see more 7 wonders, Onitama, Wingspan, Patchwork etc.

12:41 he didn´t take 6 for the mark and then right after he didn´t take 4 for the free building. so 10 coins given up in 2 moves.

Funny thing is, Ben's Sparta vs Athens analogy was incorrect - when they fought, the Spartan's land-units raided Athenian territory, while the Athenian navy swarmed around the Spartan coast. Basically a stalemate
True dat. Better analogy would be Greece vs Rome, Greece built the legendary culture then Rome roflstomped them.
A roflstomp doesn't even begin to describe what Rome did to Greece. It was almost a total and utter annihilation of everything apart from the things that could benefit Rome in some way.
I feel his analogy was more just the fact that Sparta was pretty much purely military based whereas Athens is regarded as a much more cultural city, known for art and architecture etc. Not literally when Sparta and Athens fought.
Greek history isn't my forté so I don't understand any of this

holy crap I really love this game. after watching you two played it I went and got it the next day and have probably played it 15 times in the past 3 days. I really want to see the yogscast do a tournament with this games. This reminds me of civ soo much except the games only last 30 min! not 6 hours best game ever.

I think a rule correction: you only add to cost of buying resources based on your opponents brown cards. High tech resources don’t apply.
It applies to brown and gray, but not yellow.
This was actually super interesting. I thought Lewis was screwed but then he got that OP architecture just let him spam his wonders. Geez.

At 16:30 does Architecture cancel 2 of ANY resource needed to build a wonder, or only 2 of the SAME resource?

So at 10:00, when a wonder is built...the blue card he takes from the pyramid is essentially "burned" (he's not gaining anything from it except using it to build the wonder)? So if that card he pulled was a clay pit, by using it to build his wonder he is not gaining any clay from it for future plays. Is that right?

If you have control of the Decree token chamber which is a "Blue card +2".
You have just acquired a Senate card.
Which is correct?
If you have No Blue cards, do you have
2 Senate actions 0+2=2
OR
If you have No Blue cards, do you have
1 Senate actions 0+1=1

he had an Urbanism science token which generates 4 gold each time you build a card via chain.
Statue card he picked has a mask symbol, and he already owned a Theatre with the same mask symbol.

This is by far the best video I have watched. I had to replay much of it as they talked over each other. But overall, the game is jsut too complicated. Sad, because it looks like it may be a good one. Too many things to remember.

the normal 7 wonders game is 2 to 7 players
MrGruntly Wow, must be a really slow game with 7, since each player only gets one wonder (I assume) and they can't super-aggro like Lewis did this game with his military victory.
Peter Senior 7 Wonders proper is actually faster (at least in my experience). There is no Military Victory or Tech Victory, you just win via points, and Military is a *lot* worse. Almost everything is simpler, but it has a few nice mechanics Duel doesn't.
Got it backwards. The original "7 Wonders" game is 3-7 players with a special 2 player variant that's clunky as hell. This was a different game with similar concepts made because someone finally figured out that card drafting with two people is like trying both players playing a fighting game on the same controller.

I have a feeling that's why they play them on the main channel and let the more... 'one-on-one'-types of games shine here.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for that to happen but... Games Night has for the most part not been about the big things that are dramatic and summoning Cthulu into the world... but rather the more "Let's sit down at a table, have a cup of tea and play something that will last at least an hour or so".
I mean, they are making more episodes of this after all so... it kinda falls into that category as well! ^^'
