I can’t believe that hotel NPC is hoarding az Floette smh
But real talk I like how this more or less ushered the age of datamining the Pokémon games. Obviously the info on light of ruin had to come from somewhere which led to the formerly unused Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows being discovered and, well the rest is history at this point. Imagine if this random chance of dialogue never even happened or you just skipped through it without thinking. Absolutely wild thing to think about

theres something so exciting about learning or discovering something new in pokemon, whether its playing a new generation and seeing the new pokemon or little secrets like this. theres something so magical about new pokemon releases and all the new content to discover that somewhat fades away after a few months or even a few weeks after, but its fun to look back and remember how exciting it was

Love this insight into what the early days of xy were like! cool how all the common lore in our fandom and cool hidden knowledge ultimately stems from small moments like this

I remember having a similar moment in the early days of sword and shield. When I was originally playing through the games a trainer’s clefable somehow got the move freeze shock via metronome, kyurem-black’s signature move. I found it odd that that move was even in the game despite kyurem and zekrom not being present in the games after the dex cut, and low and behold they were some of the first mons to be transfer only via Pokémon home when that released. Certainly not as grand of a discovery as yours but it’s always fun to find those things that feel like they shouldn’t be there in games that later turn out to have some sort of significance to them

Dang this video was nostalgic as hell. X and Y datamines were so interesting with well this move of course, but mega latios and latias as well as the mythicals.
