I think in one of the previous podcasts they floated the idea of bringing Nish back to do the tasks even though he's not a contestant anymore, and just never acknowledging it. I could get behind adding Acaster to that plan.
"Even now if you say the word 'Taskmaster' around Phil, he suddenly looks like someone has taken the air out of him." Oh no, I really hope that isn't true!! The series was really one of the best, a fantastic line-up, all 5 contestants equally contributed to the season being an absolute delight, in my opinion. I loved Phil on the show! The season would not have been the same without him. I hope he knows this!!!
I didn’t expect James to be both such a big fan of the show that he’s watching outtakes and so serious about it to debate the merit of so many of Greg’s decisions. Brilliant.
I agree that his series was the best. Just off the top of my head I can think of 3 of the most hilarious moments ever on television; 1). The water bottle fountain, 2). James being scolded by Greg in the studio, 3). Greg's reaction at his mom in a bathtub with a fez. The only moment that comes remotely close to these is "Bastard's cryin innit?" That said, I still haven't even seen series 9, because they never uploaded it to this channel.

Yes to all.these except Carr, Suttie, Ancona and Jupitus. I'd like to see Coren Mitchell and Andrew Doyle as they might be quite interesting thinkers. Reg D Hunter would be good to see how Greg handled him. Jack Dee (can't remember if he's been on?) Alun Cochrane. Mickey Flanagan would argue well. Kevin Bridges. Jennifer Saunders and/or Dawn French. Graham Norton.
No way. It's much better that Katherine claimed she weighed an absolutely absurd amount and then put Alex in the position of feeling too awkward to push her. It wouldn't work from a snotty contestant that argues all the time, but when the sweet, nervous, confused, and all around lovely contestant does it, it's perfect. A bald-faced lie from that sweetheart? I bet Greg loved it. Deserved.
I think if james had brought the "5 point" as the pointiest thing, greg might have just given them to the winner of that week's show and the 5 points would be seperate to the scoring point from winning the prize task round

There did seem to be a bit of a theme for redoing past tasks this time. 'Melon buffet revisited' was an obvious similarly but the studio task was a very similar idea to Series 4 Ep.3 and the £20 task reminded me of the 'buy a present for The Taskmaster' tasks in series 1-3.

The Xmas Tree thing task... At no point did it say "throw" the item into the machine. Just says the heaviest thing from the furthest away... Nothing about having g to chuck it in...

If Alex had shoved Katherine from up a hill in the direction of the machine, and neither of them applied any more force to change her trajectory or speed, and she went into the machine, you'd be right.
Im thinking the christmas tree wrapper task a bit like in sports. Long jump for example, its when you life off from the ground. Same with the javelin throwing etc if you for some odd reason dont put yourself through the wrapper.
Hearing James saying he would have won on any other series is amusing, considering to me, he seems to have intentionally chosen silly over effective on multiple tasks.
