  • Greetings, birders. Enjoy an hour of exotic native tropical and migrating birds, photographed near Nuevo Arenal, Costa Rica. This area is on the edge of the rain forest, and attracts many types of birds.
Here you'll see Montezuma Oropendulas, Euphonias, Clay-Colored Thrush, Blue-Gray Tanagers, Palm Tanagers, Hoffman's Woodpeckers, Black-Cheeked Woodpeckers, and Great Kiskadees.
Your cats, dogs, and birds may enjoy watching and hearing the birds also! I get a lot of comments about animals who watch the videos.
The video was shot at Vista Isla (my home) on seven different feeders. I used a Canon 750d and a GoPro Hero+
Pura Vida from Costa Rica Bird Cam!

Yes, he's a pretty one. I have a video coming this Sunday that shows the Oropendula building a nest. Fascinating! Stay tuned!

My pleasure, Anne. My wife watched last night and pointed out that the titles got out of sync at some point. I can't fix it now because it'll break the link. Oh well...

What do you feed them besides bananas? Where I live, we have 4 seasons, so theres only a few months of summer. Most birds love the tropical weather. These birds are exotic and exquisite!

They like sweet fruits - papayas, pineapple, mango, etc., but bananas are the least expensive and the birds love them! We only get the birds for a few months - from November through February, give or take. It's really quiet now.

Yeah, sorry! The birds have all moved on until the fall (except for the toucans). But I’ve got a new camera and I’m making plans to shoot at some exotic new locations. I’ve been shooting some video of other wildlife every time I get a chance, but I don’t have enough to edit together. Sorry for the delay! I’ll get to work!!

My favorite is the Montezuma oropendola is a very distinguish bird, as per Costa rica national bird... I am not impress, sorry.

Shh, they read these comments! :-) I know what you're saying. They're not the prettiest bird we see. I think the reasons they're the national bird is (1) there are a lot of them, and (2) they have a beautiful, melodic mating song. In the spring, sometimes you can hear dozens singing at the same time. It's really beautiful. It reminds me a bit of the Mockingbirds we have in Texas. Here's an example of the song: th-cam.com/video/IyT4XB3Re_o/w-d-xo.html
