Anytime I see footage from back in those days , I often wonder how many of us from then are still around and maybe feeling nostalgic for them. Wherever you might be, if you’re still around and reading this, cheers to you.
I remember seeing this!!! This is an awesome theme..And I really like the part after the credits...well...The bottom right..I really like that..the way it flips up like that like someone's turning the page in a book. LOL.
Sucks they don't use this theme anymore. It is a really good theme. Personally, the Tribune Broadcasting logo at the end as the music climaxed (like WGN did for a time) would have been a nice touch, but meh.
@nubianprince6 They sort of did & didn't. When the WB started in '95, it was only on one night of the week, so for promoting the WB shows that aired on that night, the "WB11" branding was in effect, anything else--news, movies, syndicated shows was just "Channel 11" for the remaining 6 days of the week. Cut to a year later when the WB network expanded their prime time lineup, and TPTB just found it easier to incorporate "WB11" into all their branding. And that's how a bill becomes a law.
Promos actually used a hybridized version-- the 11 had the WB logo attached, and the voiceovers generally referred to the station as "The WB, Channel 11"-- KTLA did a similar thing around that time.
...in contrast to As Time Goes By and Hello! Ma Baby, also, the original version of the WPIX Custom Music Package debuted in 1993 and was expanded in 1995 and updated in 1998 and 2001.

@@mattjackson2172 But you told me that the 1998 update debuted along with new graphics in September that year, just before Jack Cafferty was ousted and replaced by former WNBC weekend anchor Jim Watkins (who appealed to a younger audience).
Why can't they do closings like this anymore? So simple but yet so great!!!
I asked myself the same question
"WPIX LATE 1996: The Dependent Era"
The transition was complete.

Used to watch WPIX on Pay TV in northern Canada. WPIX was awesome for long closings like this one.

Lol...I never seen anything like that before
Amazing long close. Almost rare to find this
Good old days especially the 90’s
Linda Church was weekend weather anchor for years, until Joe Cioffi (from News 12 Long Island) joined the station and replaced her.
A 63-second montage of the Mid 1990s New York City Skyline with THIS playing in the background would be IN SYNC to the Max. From 0:20 to 1:23 exactly.

NextG that didn’t come in until the late 90’s
@@mamatemari6061 Don't you mean 1998?
No, I believe WB branding was in use at this point, but I don't think it crossed over to news until the late 1990s...
Don't you mean 1997?
UPDATE: Sorry, WGN still does have a Tribune logo at the end of their newscasts. But still...

@@TimothyMischka In 1996, they changed the branding from The WB, Channel 11 to The WB11.
This usually happens on weekends like Friday nights and Saturday evening.
