    Honestly,I hate to be that guy, but I quit because of the Speedsofters that ruined the culture of my local field. There used to be a culture of Fair play and educating the newer players. Now the game evolved into Speedsofters mag-dumping “rentals” for clout. Where’s the fun in using your $2,000 build to shoot up new players? Don’t you want to be challenged?

    You forgot two more easy ways to make it more interesting. One is to try to change the way you play. If you are used to rushing forward, try to stay behind, go slowly. If you are used to hiding more, try running more. Another is to try playing with a weaker hand. Not only will it be more interesting, but you will also be a better airsoft player when you are able to use both hands.

    I think the decline of airsoft in the US can be blamed on four factors: 1. Lack of professionally operated and marshalled gaming facilities. 2. The decline of serious mil sim type gameplay in a lot of airsoft fields, which now favor "speed soft." 3. The lack of quality support and talented technicians in most airsoft fields. 4. The lack of innovation within the GBBR space. Fortunately, there still a few fields out there that do recognize this such as Ballahack Airsoft VA and other that put out serious Mil sim type events where strict codes of conduct are implemented and participation in different scenarios are encouraged.

    Simple rules, everybody learns how to load one bb into their chosen weapon. All players have to shoot and load one round at a time.
    Ive done this 20 years ago in paintball groups. Its more wild than you think.
    Would be cool to see maybe groups squad up to do disciplined fire and moving. Would be interesting and fun in general.

    However, I think the main reason why people end up leaving the sport entirely is other players. There are several groups/types of players that ultimately make up a minority of the overall community, but they always tend to zap the fun out, and regardless of how you try to ignore them, eventually they'll get to you. To save your fun and your whole experience and the experience for others: play GBBR only and throw out the AEG‘s and HPA‘s because Gas Blowback not only is a hell of fun and a nicer feeling and everything, it also makes the game way more tactical and eliminates the just trigger-fingering and shooting a 1000 rounds/BB‘s on one opponent - you have to be way more tactical and more precise and save on BB‘s because your mag‘s are real/low-cap mags with max 30 BB‘s per mag and that’s hella fun!

    I haven't played in forever because we only have one field in the Tucson, AZ area. It's a relatively open field with a lot of die hard players who have spent a thousand or so in their gun alone. It just got to the point where it was an expensive little trip where I couldn't compete and there was no other reason to go other than to run and get shot. Plus every time I went I had at least one issue with my guns. So I either had to struggle or spend to fix them. I had gone 10 to 20 times in my life and invested a decent amount into guns and gear to make the game more comfortable than renting. But the experience was getting quickly degraded and just didn't feel worth it anymore. I love to shoot and would love to play, but it's too expensive for me in admission and consumables alone to not be able to do anything and have a redeeming experience.

    Me personally, I haven't given up on airsoft, it's just because of financial reasons, mainly due to the amount of equipment and parts; I haven't been able to play airsoft for months because of work and college, but now that I've already graduated, and am looking for new job to sustain my hobby, I am planning to get back into airsoft very soon. I still have my AEGs, but I am start thinking of getting at least 2 GBBs. One Rifle and one SMG. I might have to lay low on the PCs and go with just a harness that I still have because I've gained weight since I played airsoft, and I am going to be biding time until I have enough money to get a new PC. Still practicing with my AEGs holding rifles techniques and speed reloadings. So, unless there's a life-changing altercation, I haven't quit on airsoft, just a long hiatus.

    I was actually trying to get into airsoft but the local arisoft seller was surprisingly rude; he didn't want to let me check the gun (I guess to avoid wear on the replica?) and then got upset when I pointed out the sights were painted poorly.
    Then he went on a rant of how airsoft replicas are just toys and how he shot real guns, and I was like okay cool thanks and left. I'm spending my money on something else

    Yeah unfortunately the problem I had that caused me to quit playing can't be fixed with money. I already primary a 1911A1, secondary a pump shotgun, tertiary a P90, quaternary a basic clam shell M4 for indoor and use either a Famas or RPK for outdoor in addition to having more platforms I can swap whenever I wanted. My problems were with the players. My friend and I basically hated everyone we ever met regardless of the field we went to. All the rampant cheating and elitism drove us away from it. I want to give it another shot now that im on the other side of the country but I'm still very hesitant especially since I got back into paintball and have met great people at both the fields I've played at.

    To be honest I don’t think it’s the lack of platform variety or gameplay styles. It’s the financial impact on customers and businesses. A lot the the places near me have started focusing on paintball or shut down entirely. Airsoft just doesn’t make enough money to sustain business in certain locations. As for customers/players. Everything is getting more expensive. Airsoft fields aren’t open anymore during certain time schedules. People have to put more time into their jobs. It’s becoming stressful instead of an enjoyable hobby/sport for players. As well as just a job instead of a passion for businesses.

    I feel like airsoft is 2 different games. Speedsoft and OG airsoft. People struggle enjoying the game when people are just sprinting and feathering a trigger while others are actually playing tactically. The 2 groups of airsoft don't mesh well.

    • @ChucksSEADnDEAD
      @ChucksSEADnDEAD 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, the side playing tactically should use actual tactics.
      I want to agree with the sentiment, but the fact that speedsofters can "ruin" games just says the side playing "tactically" isn't using tactics.
      Coverage of angles, multiple targets to force the speedsofter to always get traded by a second man in the room, cheesing and holding devious angles should make a speedsofting team slow the heck down.

    • @Gerwulf97
      @Gerwulf97 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly. The same platform doesn't make it the same game at all. Even a simple rule change like making rifles semi-only or full auto capable at a field completely changes it.

    • @Gerwulf97
      @Gerwulf97 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear you but I think you're missing that Milsim is kind of arbitrary because of the platform. If in real life bullets didn't rip through most "cover" like they do, people had thousands of rounds of ammo on them that didn't weigh anything, they didn't really care about death because infinite respawns at an open play, bullets only went 100 yards at most, can wear no armor because no fear of death again, and there's no artillery, and on and on and on, real tactics would look very different. Airsoft guns are one of the closest options for training and the most accessible, but milsim rules have to be imposed, such as ammo restrictions, and healing restricitions, and like milsim west having people react to fire that can't actually hurt them because they're too far away. Speedsofts only limit is the airsoft technology, so if everything is allowed with infinite respawns, no armor requirements, noo arbitarily using realistic gear, no lower capacity mags or at least ammo, it will win, even if there's a well coordinated group of milsim guys, and it will make it hard for them to coordinate.

    I've only been in for a week since I made my first shot from a GBB pistol and I could already tell that I only want to do this sport for range shooting only. There doesn't seem to have a lot convincing reasons to play PvP in this if the facilitators aren't going to be professional about it or the players cheat without consequences. PvP doesn't seem to be worth the time.

When kids get old enough to join in, a lot of us jump back in again. Also where I live the closest field is over an hour away, the nicer fields are closer to two hours away. Requires planning and even when playing I can maybe hit up 1-2 times a month.

    I quit for about a year and sold everything but I’m getting back into it this summer. I found it to be boring because people don’t want to play to tactics or they just hang back & don’t move forward meaning I was one of the few main runners that went for objectives etc. I also found that I had too many RIFs which made choosing labour some. Now I only have two upgraded hi-capas that I didn’t sell first time round and a new T10 which I’m upgrading just now with Ulysses, shimming, piston, piston head, cylinder, cylinder head with a motor, barrel and maybe a new gear ratio to come.
    Before I had a Tango Down M4, TM VSR-10, Eve-4, Mod.1, TM MK23, TM MP7A1. All upgraded to the max possible.
