I'm reminded of a man who was waiting for me in bed, and I had "cleaned up" and brushed my teeth and came into bed with a big smile and he was pissed and snorted "I can't believe you washed your face!". People expect women to be made up in to something we aren't and then begrudge us if we aren't made up. Sure, it makes you look pretty, but what's wrong with being ourselves? As usual, men get to be themselves.... I love it that Alicia looks younger and fresh faced and is showing her freckles. Good for her.
+Cindy A. I totally agree with you. but I also think that women are too superficial nowadays. we don't allow ourselves to be loved the way we are instead we want to please everyone with means hiding our imperfections and pretending to be perfect. men are hairy but they don't like hairy women , they can be fat , but won't date fat women. and beauty has become a competition. we all want to be seen as sexy what we don't realize is that there's sex in the word sexy so a man who likes you because you're sexy will never love you as a person because he sees you as a fantasy and these men often don't care of your feelings .
Cindy A. , I so agree Cindy. Men don't even care about it. Its women who are in competition with one another . Sure, makeup enhances your look but it's not the real you.
I'm with this no makeup thing....I used to wear a full face of makeup and I felt so powerless and insecure, since cutting it out I feel so much more free and better about myself.
wearing makeup or not does not define who we are. Happiness and self worth is an inner job. If she has learned how to love herself unconditionally then she's on the right path. I think she's attractive with or without cosmetics. We all have the right to choose what makes us happy.
Spoken like a man☺ Some wear make-up because they enjoy it, because they see the person they create as someone they can identify with, someone artist, creative or use the time it takes to put on the make-up as self care time. Do not presume all who wear make-up have low self worth, or wear it to impress or win the approval of others. Do not label people. Fair play to Alicia Keys and more power to her, but we should all do what suits us, once we are not hurting others and enjoy who we are and our choices.☺
When a woman is naturally beautiful, no more or less amount of make-up will change that.Much respect to Alicia for establishing a real comfort zone with her natural self. Haters would be the ones who can't seem to accomplish the same.
Agreed...She is not only beautiful but soulful, and inspiring. That face without makeup is GORGEOUS. I love what she had to say as well...don't let others expectations of you... stop you from being you.
+Maru Kye haha Hilarious! I thought I looked homeless at first! haha I used to wear makeup every single day until one day I just stopped. I live in a hot climate now so I just do my eyebrows and MAYBE mascara. I just paid more attention to skin care and now wear makeup when I'm "going out." It is freeing in the sense you accept how you look and don't worry about the "possible opinions" of others. It wasn't always like that nor easy.
I do not need makeup to make me look beautiful. I know I am even without makeup. Some people wear makeup for most of their lives and sometimes taking it off they look old. Once in a while you can put makeup not all the time?
I am a makeup artist, I say live and let live. Personally I have a problem with what women and Men are doing to their faces today. I do not judge, but as I have people coming to me for application I am astounded by the look girls want... It seems (in my experience) to come down to people not being individuals and wanting to follow the masses. I swear every single girl under 23 keeps bringing me the same few pictures for their makeup as references that are not only cake face but highly face tuned. (nothings real anymore) Unfortunately for them I am physically incapable of putting layers and layers of concealer, foundation ect to the point that it no longer looks like a face but a mask. Good on You Alicia. And I can't wait to hear your new music. :)
You're right. Look at all the makeup tutorials on TH-cam these days. Bozo the Clown wear less makeup than all those girls. Just a layer upon a layer upon a layer.... You're not paining the Sistine Chapel, honey!
But who cares...? if it's not harming anyone, and it makes the individual feel better, or whatever, literally the reason doesn't matter.. cake face, or makeup-less, if they want it to look like a mask.. who cares! Like Alicia said - "You do what feels good for you" i'm sure there are more important things to worry about!
Alot of women would go makeup free if they felt they had beauty like her. I think the issue is that women don't accept what they have as being beautiful, they look to someone like A.keys or Beyonce' as the standard of beauty....even with no makeup on. The message is still powerful and I agree with her. But even with no makeup on colorism plays a big part in our community of what we think is or isn't beauty...so sad but so true. If we could accept that all shades are beautiful, going makeup free would be a no brainer even more so.
So true my best friend is Biracial and everyone goes crazy over her I'm dark skin and men don't gawk or ask me what you mixed with love your eyes etc etc. it hurts my self esteem smh 😔
+Nickelwindow53 don't let it hurt your self esteem!!! You're beautiful just like everyone else don't let your beauty or self confidence be determined by what men or society thinks! It has to come from within, it has to come from you! Then nobody can break you down!
What your friend is getting is attention. Its fleeting. Don't begrudge her for that, and don't let hurt your self-esteem. LOVE is the goal right? Lots of attention does not equal LOVE. Quality over quantity darling. LOVE who you are!
I have never felt the need to wear makeup even through my own insecurities about myself..I love Alicia keys for doing this it makes me feel comfortable in my own skin to know that I don't need to portray an image for the public eye to accept me..I need to accept me for me.
Because she's fully black and Alicia Keys is Half 'White' it's racism... We all want a perfect world but let's face facts, Alicia is lighter 'Essentially Society's Image of TRUE BEAUTY' it's annoying and honestly sickening but it's whatever. Keke don't care about the haters and it's good on her.. People hate the 'truth' they like to believe there are 'BEAUTIFUL' people who are 'Aesthetically' made to be Pretty rather than believe there's nothing really special about ANYONE. Everyone's beautiful naturally.
I stopped wearing make up about 6 years ago and it is liberating to accept myself regardless of how I look. Maybe that looks different for other people, you do you. Love it!
I love her energy. I mean, aside from the whole make up thing, how can you not lift off of her vibe right there? She's all about growth, authenticity and craftsmanship, how can you not agree on that?
She's wearing makeup. As soon as she said "I love my blush, lip gloss and eye liner" I knew it. Its all about a good matte bronzer and blush. A light coverage BB cream. Naturally filling the brows and just being light handed when applying makeup . I know what I'm talking about THAT GLOW IS MAN MADE lmao
she looks so amazing without makeup. its so nice to see her being comfortable in her own skin and embracing thaf beautiful side of her it's incredible. i love it!
Having just become allergic, at age 64, to my makeup, I have been having such a hard time not wearing any. Alicia Keys, you have no idea how much your going makeu free means to me. You are absolutely gorgeous without your makeup. Plus, your attitude about life is spot on! What a great person you are!
E Laulii, the world made up the words "pretty" and "ugly" as forms of separation and distinction between peoples. I believe this is highly unnecessary and contradictory since so many claim we should appreciate and accept differences. You are not ugly. You are not pretty. You are not beautiful. You are not unattractive. All of us are just who we are without society interfering. And that's beyond "beautiful".....that's distilled and pure.
Oh wow! She is so inspiring. She is calm, at peace with herself, as if her soul is on its highest setting. This is what makes her so radiantly beautiful. Makeup is not needed. She is luminous, lit from within. A strong, intelligent, confident beautiful black woman, quietly proud of who she is. What a great lady. Girls, we should all aspire to be like Alicia.
She looks so young and beautiful without make up. She kind of looks like Natalie Portman, but prettier. I don't think she is completely make-up free though, there's atleast tinted moisturizer on, or some very sheer foundation/concealer/highlighter. But still. Beautiful anyway.
you so completely stupid x100...natalie portman is very pretty and always was, but she has wrinkles now, even in thick make up...alicia looks younger and fresher.
it doesn't matter who you think is more beautiful, to me they are equally pretty and equally talented in different ways, same classic beauty type with great cheekbones. My point is natalie now is not as beautiful as she used to be 5+ years ago, she's aged noticeably the past couple years, and can no way be as beautiful as alicia without any make-up (nowadays). Alicia still looks exactly the same, and they are the same age, alicia being abit older. Some people may say it's because she's half-black, but I don't think so...miranda kerr for eg. is white and she looks very young and cute for a 33-34 year old....I think it's just good genetics/face structure (plus some help from the doctor).
I am so much more confident since going makeup free a few months ago! I no longer feel hideous if I have a pimple and I appreciate my flaws. No hate for those who wear make-up. But everyone should try makeup free at least once 😉
After years of spending thousands of dollars to improve her catered skin she now adopts a makeup-free lifestyle and calls women to tell thy self..Good for you Alicia
That's the same thing I said! She used to have really bad skin but since had it worked on now let's be makeup free. She is a beautiful woman makeup or no makeup but I just wonder if her skin were still bad would she be still wanting to go makeup free.
Yesss! I just wish she would have been honest and said hey I was able to clear up my problematic skin and now I wanna just go makeup free since my skin is looking the best it's ever looked. But no she wanna get on tv and tell people to love themselves and be natural girl you was not loving that pock marked face of yours before you spent the money to clear it. And she says she just wants to be honest with herself but she got that fake hair braided onto her head. I don't care makeup no makeup weave no weave just don't front like you had some big revelation.
I commend Alicia for ditching the makeup, but she didn't start the no makeup movement. The movement was started on Twitter about 4 years ago. I guess since she's a celebrity whose bringing it to the mainstream she's credited with starting it. In any case, I think it's a good thing.
One could say we men started it since the vast majority of us have never worn a stitch of it. I don't know why anyone would allow themselves to feel pressured to do something that their counterparts will never do. Men can roll out of bed and women are expected to spend hours screwing with their natural look to impress whom?
The point is that she's doing it all the time, and in public, not just a makeup free selfie on social media. She hardly ever wears makeup in public anymore. And in a world where all of our celebrities plaster their faces with makeup, its so refreshing to see one who never wears it anymore.
Idc what she did or didn't do, she is spreading a beautiful message for young girls and I support the he'll our of it. in HS, I wouldn't go to class until I had makeup on and then now I've realized that NO ONE else even cares about your face except you. People will accept you for being you, especially in college- there are so many people here to meet and become great friends with!
+Malia Leonard it's because celebrities set trends it's been the case since the world was formed. If Kanye wear a g-string then his millions of followers will follow suit...Kris Kross wore jeans backwards and we followed it.Shes not forcing anyone to copy her bt she knows she's got the power of influence that ordinary folk like u n me don't possess.
She's beautiful without make up but can we acknowledge that if a beautiful woman goes make up free, it's praised. If a plainer woman goes without make up, she's criticized for being lazy, letting herself go, not making an effort. Even without make up, she still has beauty privilege.
I just wish she would have displayed this empowerment when she had serious acne. That's when it would've mattered. Now it's just like, I had a series of chemical peels, did some other dermatological treatments, now I feel empowered.
Who would feel empowered with acne all over there face..? Really that was a ridiculous statement! You feel empowered by taking control of your health & well-being amongst other entities of/in your life.. She's doing just that and then some. What are you doing besides criticizing this well accomplished artist?
I like the fact that Alicia Keys wants people to show their natural selves just like she has been doing. However, if she would have gone make-up free when she had bad skin, her movement would have seem much more authentic. Now that her skin is clear, most likely due to her going through expensive skin treatments like skin peals and laser treatments for dark under eye circles and dark spots, she's promoting this #nomakeup movement because she can afford it, and she's confident about how her skin is now after these treatments. Or, maybe she needs something to grab people's attention in order to sell her new album since, well, her album is about to drop and her music isn't selling as much as it used to.
Well there's a hater...she's not asking anyone not to wear make up. She just says something to inspire other women and men. Express your authentic self and be comfortable in who you are with or without make. Don't twist her message. I think she gets enough attention through her talent and doesn't need more...
She looks beautiful without the makeup. I also went "makeup free" a few years back. For me, it was a "health" decisio. I only use "all natural" cleansing products on my face and hair, and I feel so much better.
Can someone please read her down for choosing to go makeup free now that her skin is perfect? Where was this ten years ago Alicia? And this is coming from someone who thinks Alicia can do no wrong, but it's easy to be 'raw, and truthful' when you don't have any skin problems anymore!
You're missed the point. She's saying don't rely on make up. Some women can't leave the house without make up on...not even to go to the grocery store! When she was younger, she was like those women who thought that they needed make up to feel beautiful. Now she's older and wiser and understands that she's enough without make up.
Rubarb84 Yeah, older and wiser, also prettier too. It's just like getting the best of both worlds in my opinion. Nobody ever denied Alicia's beauty, even when her skin wasn't perfect. It's like you get to wear makeup when you have flaws, and then once those are eliminated, then you get to be the poster child for embracing those flaws by NOT wearing makeup???? I'm sorry I just can't get with that.
+Alex Chen Yeah, I agree with you completely. This is great and women/men should do whatever makes them feel good but it's easy to say no to makeup when you have flawless skin.
+Alex Chen Yeah, I agree with you completely. This is great and women/men should do whatever makes them feel good but it's easy to say no to makeup when you have flawless skin.
Lol pretty easy to do when u fit in to the American European standard of beauty. Pretty easy to do when you have access to professional quality skincare. Pretty easy when you have access to the best foods that promote healthy skin from within. Pretty easy to do when you are financially sound. She is a wonderful artist and a beautiful woman but it's not that serious.
American European standards of beauty? Why are you grouping America and Europe into the same category? Pretty sure they have different beauty standards.
Yaaaasssss lets get a debate going. Lol. Make up is so serious. Peoples choices to wear it or not extremely serious. This is a world crisis. What ever shall we do?
Harlie, I can totally understand where you are coming from. If Alicia said she wasn't going to wear make-up ever again and that she would be showcasing her face, as is, 365 days, facial issues or not, I would have taken this interview a little bit differently.
I love that she's going makeup free. So many celebrities don't look like what we see them looking like all the time and it's so freeing to see a beautiful face make up free, not red and splotchy were you're trying to figure out what face it is that you're seeing.
same. If I feel like wearing makeup, imma do it. if I don't feel like it, WHO CARES. I haven't worn makeup consistently ever, but once in a blue moon, yeah, I like eyeliner! I feel like the lack of makeup really forces you to see the PERSONality. But I also feel like makeup is just another way of expressing yourself.
She said she's the first woman of color on the show, but Shakira, who is latina/hispanic, was a judge before her? I know Shakira has lighter skin, but that doesn't make her a non POC. Come on now.
latinos we are not people of colour darling.... what is with all this crazy amount of ignorance? black is black yellow is yellow white is white and Latino is Latino darling
+AdventurousDaydreamer I guess maybe it's the background? I would consider Zoe Zaldana a woman of color because she has a Haitian background but Shakira is like Lebanese and Spanish I think. I don't even know if JLo would qualify lol but I'm sure others would beg to differ haha for many reasons.
Shakira bloodline is from lebenon and spain...she is not a woman of color. Spanish people (not to be confused with spanish speakers) are not people of color.
she never said she had work done and she never said she doesn't ever wear makeup she just doesn't wear it right now or as often. she's such an inspiration and she's talented and soulful and a gold role model for those her she and younger. who can even say one bad thing about her. y'all must have issues.
I know right... sure she's never said she's natural or had a nose job(search up before and after photos, most of these celebs have had nose jobs including Alicia Keys)... but c'mon... it just doesn't seem too genuinine. it's like, "oh I meet the beauty standards now (no acne and a Hollywood nose), let's go makeup free." and she's trying too hard to be unique.
Good for her, but I mean...I would find this actually empowering if she did this when she was struggling with acne and before her nose job....now that she has "fixed" her little "flaws" she decides to be "honest with herself"?...sorry but no,I don't buy this
but why do we always have to put people in boxes? just because somebody had surgery or is acne-free doesnt mean they're not entitled to feel empowered now. we need to stop labeling people. its like people who say they're vegeterian but eat meat twice a year and people be like "and you call yourself a vegeterian?". why do people even care?..we need to stop labelling ourselves and others and leave space for individual living.
sanda.x the thing is I don't care actually, like I said, good for her,but she is the one drawing attention to her "no make up movement" so I'm entilted to share my thoughts about the subjet. What bugs me a little bit is that I feel like this could be a publicity stunt tbh and also like I mentioned before, the fact that she is preaching about loving herself and being "honest with herself" NOW that she has fixed her "little flaws".
Whilst I like her "love thyself" attitude I think that so many people disdain her current comments is because obviously she has had a lot of work done to get skin that clear. She had bad acne and thus acne scarring. It took a lot of time, patience and money to clear that up. I am happy that she is happy with herself and wants to spread that message. But it does comes off as a wee bit hypocritical.
Excuse the world! but she did not start the no makeup trend! Black women have been doing this for decades and just because she is a "Celebrity" she gets all the credit for it I do not think so! just goes to show how people in the world are going out ass backwards!😶
Give me a break. She acts like she's saving the world by not wearing makeup. Big deal. Sign up in the military or do something actually heroic then we'll talk
If anything, she only did it because of the lighting and camera. Not because she wants to look pretty but because you literally have to for that kind of lighting. Even the guy is wearing make up.
+RandomGus No, you're not forced to wear it they probably suggested it,and she could of mentioned it for the viewers because that is not makeup free.(that's the whole point of her movement ) She has on some sort of bb cream, bit of blush, and it looks like a tinted rose colored chapstick. You would be surprised how a little bit of color goes along way. Especially for someone who you can tell is pretty without much makeup.
I agree , but you are advised to wear a skin protector that might some what resemble make-up. What difference does it make. Bottom line , Alicia probably look more radiant than all those that are hating on her.
+Sexy New Yorker Speaks it's not hating lol she's being misleading. You don't have to wear be cream you can wear moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin. I don't care if she wears make up or not, she just shouldn't act like she's not if she is
This is so refreshing. Sick of piles of makeup and people thinking you’re hating if you don’t like a cake face. People are forgetting who they are just because they can transform into someone else with makeup. Self love is best because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as you deem yourself as gorgeous, who cares what others think.
Alicia"s always been her own person and I really admire her even more for being honest with herself and the world. It takes alot of guts to be challenged by all the idealism that goes on. She handles herself gracefully and I am digging this new Alicia!!
She's not beautiful on the inside. She had an affair with a married man when his wife was pregnant. He left his wife and married her. That to me is not a beautiful woman inside.
what a person does doesn't afflect how they are on the inside. we aren't perfect! she's been a good humble and loving person even before her fame. you don't know her so don't judge!
Get your facts straight. You probably read a headline. Swizz wrecked his own marriage. He got another woman pregnant before He was even seeing Alicia smh
Yes your actions do reflect what you have on the inside.. It's in how you deal with yourself after realizing you've made a mistake that shows true character.. No one is perfect, but some fail to acknowledge their imperfections and live as if their wrong has gone unnoticed
"We each have something that no one else has" I completely agree. I have always felt that way about wearing makeup or coloring my hair - do it if you want to, but you're kind of giving up a piece of your unique identity.
+nes sie if you see other pics of her without makeup you can tell the difference. She has her brows lightly painted in as well as some glowy blush. Also lip gloss. I mean, it is way less than all other celebrities wear.
She's probably wearing the bare minimum for studio lights so we can actually see her face. It's pretty difficult to go under studio or theater lights without makeup and look natural.
Did you watch the interview? She literally said she likes lip gloss, eye makeup, and blush. Any why should it matter? The point is, it's her choice when she wears makeup and not. Just because she's decided to not wear makeup anymore, doesn't mean we need to be pointing out every second we see a single speck of it on her face. It's the principle behind her choice. Back up.
Y'all have to understand: Alicia keys has MILLIONS. Even if she doesn't wear make up she can still have thousands and thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff done to her to make her look gorgeous. The average person doesn't have that. I mean come on, look how her skin shines and looks so healthy. That's not soap and water. That's COSMETIC SURGERY
y'all hating on her because she's naturally pretty? Really?
yuppp you know you are too
+fai naz I'm not.
No ones hating on her lmfao

I live in a hot climate now so I just do my eyebrows and MAYBE mascara. I just paid more attention to skin care and now wear makeup when I'm "going out." It is freeing in the sense you accept how you look and don't worry about the "possible opinions" of others. It wasn't always like that nor easy.
I do not need makeup to make me look beautiful. I know I am even without makeup. Some people wear makeup for most of their lives and sometimes taking it off they look old. Once in a while you can put makeup not all the time?
LOL. Didn't Demi Lovato have a similar imitative with her no makeup day of the week on social media last year?
same
+Geni-us Aggregait That is exactly what my husband thinks. He says it is better to kiss a woman when she is not wearing makeup.
(nothings real anymore)
Unfortunately for them I am physically incapable of putting layers and layers of concealer, foundation ect to the point that it no longer looks like a face but a mask.
Good on You Alicia. And I can't wait to hear your new music. :)
This is too true.
good point
You're right. Look at all the makeup tutorials on TH-cam these days. Bozo the Clown wear less makeup than all those girls. Just a layer upon a layer upon a layer.... You're not paining the Sistine Chapel, honey!
But who cares...? if it's not harming anyone, and it makes the individual feel better, or whatever, literally the reason doesn't matter.. cake face, or makeup-less, if they want it to look like a mask.. who cares! Like Alicia said - "You do what feels good for you"
i'm sure there are more important things to worry about!
preach
Alot of women would go makeup free if they felt they had beauty like her. I think the issue is that women don't accept what they have as being beautiful, they look to someone like A.keys or Beyonce' as the standard of beauty....even with no makeup on. The message is still powerful and I agree with her. But even with no makeup on colorism plays a big part in our community of what we think is or isn't beauty...so sad but so true. If we could accept that all shades are beautiful, going makeup free would be a no brainer even more so.
SO TRUE 1000%
well said
So true my best friend is Biracial and everyone goes crazy over her I'm dark skin and men don't gawk or ask me what you mixed with love your eyes etc etc. it hurts my self esteem smh 😔
Alicia Keys is beautiful inside and out.
she's my role model
I'm proud of her!!x
same
+miguel let me too
biracial that's why..
Finally, i don't have to feel like im the only one not using make up 😃
I have never felt the need to wear makeup even through my own insecurities about myself..I love Alicia keys for doing this it makes me feel comfortable in my own skin to know that I don't need to portray an image for the public eye to accept me..I need to accept me for me.
But when KeKe Palmer doesn't wear makeup, people call her ugly.....
love her!
Yes! Keke is beautiful inside and out.
Lia Christie damn you sound mad
+Marisella DavisEsparza I'm not I'm simply explaining why there's such a disheveled in the media for alicia....
"Do what feels good for you, be who you are"
She looks much younger with no make up! Her skin is perfection
She's wearing makeup. As soon as she said "I love my blush, lip gloss and eye liner" I knew it. Its all about a good matte bronzer and blush. A light coverage BB cream. Naturally filling the brows and just being light handed when applying makeup . I know what I'm talking about THAT GLOW IS MAN MADE lmao
at least it is not the clown make up that almost all women go for it.
you're right. you know what that glow comes from? CAMERA LIGHTS -_-
vasaline goes a long way and that's not make up.
Alicia isn't wearing any makeup.
true vaseline and cocoa butter too
she looks so amazing without makeup. its so nice to see her being comfortable in her own skin and embracing thaf beautiful side of her it's incredible. i love it!
Alicia looks great. And she also looks younger without makeup.
Having just become allergic, at age 64, to my makeup, I have been having such a hard time not wearing any. Alicia Keys, you have no idea how much your going makeu free means to me. You are absolutely gorgeous without your makeup. Plus, your attitude about life is spot on! What a great person you are!
love it! there's almost no celebrities who embrace a no makeup look.
Omg She's SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Natural, honest, genuine, incredible!!!!
Yeah but she's still super attractive without makeup😭😭😭😭😭 i look so ugly
Damn Gina
Don't say that to yourself. I'm betting you have loved ones who think you're absolutely beautiful just as you are. Give yourself some love.
skincare girl !!!! good skincare !!
Lol you guys are so cute! But no. Lol! I appreciate the encouragiingg words- this is how the internet should be.
Makeup free works very well...when you look like Alicia Keys lol. Some of us need a little help.
TheZchristina97 well said
@naimitsume She's probably only saying that cause she doesn't want backlash...
No one likes catfishes. At least I don't.
water and a great diet, and the gym...that's all it takes to improve skin and sexual well being.
You need a little self esteem, and a therapist
She seems to be in a really good place with herself. .bravo
I can see the resemblance with Natalie `Portman, but I think Natalie Portman is the more beautiful of these two beautiful women.
it doesn't matter who you think is more beautiful, to me they are equally pretty and equally talented in different ways, same classic beauty type with great cheekbones.
I am 40 I have not worn makeup in six years and do not miss it. I like seeing the real me.
I am so much more confident since going makeup free a few months ago! I no longer feel hideous if I have a pimple and I appreciate my flaws. No hate for those who wear make-up. But everyone should try makeup free at least once 😉
she's so great. forever a fan. love the girl she was back then and the woman she has become now. has never strayed from her path. gotta admire that!
I love Alicia Keys and this message.
She is so naturally beautiful
She got balls a lot of woman nowadays definitely can't go without makeup without feeling like they look Ugly smh
I'm sure you are one of them
+fai naz hahahahahah😀
+MsOldSoul hehe girl you beautiful regardless though 😉😉 we all are!
+fai naz Yup thanks hun And we are all definitely beautiful with or without makeup
makeup is too high maintenance for me
After years of spending thousands of dollars to improve her catered skin she now adopts a makeup-free lifestyle and calls women to tell thy self..Good for you Alicia
Love*
2:36 WHO NOTICED HIM 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 🤣
Seeing someone being so raw, spontaneous and accepting towards her/him self in mainstream media is so damn refreshing!!! Yo go girl!
She looks so much younger without makeup! Most people do!
I never wear make up and I love it. I'm glad she's embracing her true beauty.
She has a man who TRULY loves her. That creates an incredible amount of confidence and self love. I'm sure he tells her she's beautiful every day.
Wow imagine looking this pretty without makeup
I commend Alicia for ditching the makeup, but she didn't start the no makeup movement. The movement was started on Twitter about 4 years ago. I guess since she's a celebrity whose bringing it to the mainstream she's credited with starting it. In any case, I think it's a good thing.
Pretty sure the no makeup movement started more than 4 years ago. It's been around for quite a while actually.... Like thousands of years.
+LexDomino empowering comment. And you're right, to impress whom?
I see your point @MiniFlowerDrumSong
Idc what she did or didn't do, she is spreading a beautiful message for young girls and I support the he'll our of it. in HS, I wouldn't go to class until I had makeup on and then now I've realized that NO ONE else even cares about your face except you. People will accept you for being you, especially in college- there are so many people here to meet and become great friends with!
okay so she wears no make up and everyone is praising her? why? because shes a celebrity? WHATEVER!
i dont get it either
+Malia Leonard it's because celebrities set trends it's been the case since the world was formed. If Kanye wear a g-string then his millions of followers will follow suit...Kris Kross wore jeans backwards and we followed it.Shes not forcing anyone to copy her bt she knows she's got the power of influence that ordinary folk like u n me don't possess.
good way to suddenly get attention after being irrelevant for a few years..:-/
mad?
is she still messing with married men lol
She's beautiful without make up but can we acknowledge that if a beautiful woman goes make up free, it's praised. If a plainer woman goes without make up, she's criticized for being lazy, letting herself go, not making an effort. Even without make up, she still has beauty privilege.
I just wish she would have displayed this empowerment when she had serious acne. That's when it would've mattered. Now it's just like, I had a series of chemical peels, did some other dermatological treatments, now I feel empowered.
I said that too!! Lol
Who would feel empowered with acne all over there face..? Really that was a ridiculous statement! You feel empowered by taking control of your health & well-being amongst other entities of/in your life.. She's doing just that and then some. What are you doing besides criticizing this well accomplished artist?
+Pamela Kelley awesome
+Pamela Kelley awesome
So true. easy to be natural when you've had 5 years of glutathione .lol
FINALLY someone giving shout out to accepting yourself and knowing you don't gotta wear makeup all the time!! Everyone has that natural beauty!! :D
Yeah I have to agree.
you could be onto something. ...lol
She looks beautiful without the makeup. I also went "makeup free" a few years back. For me, it was a "health" decisio. I only use "all natural" cleansing products on my face and hair, and I feel so much better.
THIIIISSS GIRL IS ON FIIIREEEEE
kudos for Alicea!!! our children needs someone like her, be comfortable with your own skin, no matter what
Can someone please read her down for choosing to go makeup free now that her skin is perfect? Where was this ten years ago Alicia? And this is coming from someone who thinks Alicia can do no wrong, but it's easy to be 'raw, and truthful' when you don't have any skin problems anymore!
You're missed the point. She's saying don't rely on make up. Some women can't leave the house without make up on...not even to go to the grocery store!
When she was younger, she was like those women who thought that they needed make up to feel beautiful. Now she's older and wiser and understands that she's enough without make up.
Rubarb84
Yeah, older and wiser, also prettier too.
Sarah Smith
Thank you. I'm in no way trying to come for Alicia, but there's a problem here. Thanks for understanding where I'm coming from.
So Humble..💓💓💓
She definitely don't need Make up at all, she is just BEAUTIFUL.
WHY IS SHE SO PRETTY
Gwen Thomas ..Because she lives her life in simple way
She has money to get great facials and messages. Less stress helps you look young
@@flygirlmetaphysics5049 👌
Lol pretty easy to do when u fit in to the American European standard of beauty. Pretty easy to do when you have access to professional quality skincare. Pretty easy when you have access to the best foods that promote healthy skin from within. Pretty easy to do when you are financially sound. She is a wonderful artist and a beautiful woman but it's not that serious.
American European standards of beauty? Why are you grouping America and Europe into the same category? Pretty sure they have different beauty standards.
+Cammy Ruez she has a point
salty
But I also feel like makeup is just another way of expressing yourself.
although I do feel a bit like a clown when I wear it haha
+The Comedy Hangnail right! , I'm 40 and still don't like it. makes me break out
I agree! It's great to jazz it up once + a while
Contradiction...... get some self esteem
She ' s such a natural beauty !!!
She said she's the first woman of color on the show, but Shakira, who is latina/hispanic, was a judge before her? I know Shakira has lighter skin, but that doesn't make her a non POC. Come on now.
Stop lying to yourself, you know and we know she's not a person of color.
latinos we are not people of colour darling.... what is with all this crazy amount of ignorance? black is black yellow is yellow white is white and Latino is Latino darling
I thought there were different races within the Latin culture? ei. Afro-Latinos, Dominicans ...
I know I'm a little late to comment about THIS. But , women, to me ARE beautiful naturally! And she owns, not wearing makeup. Astonishingly beautiful.
She looks great, well done...women don't have to do or wear anything they don't want.
She looks ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS without makeup!
She is gorgeous , love that head band !
she's simply beautiful!!
How natural can she be when she's had a nose job?
Who hates on Alicia keys
She didn't claim to be natural, she just wants to be makeup free for a while.
she never said she had work done and she never said she doesn't ever wear makeup she just doesn't wear it right now or as often. she's such an inspiration and she's talented and soulful and a gold role model for those her she and younger. who can even say one bad thing about her. y'all must have issues.
HUH!?? Where did u get that from????
I know right... sure she's never said she's natural or had a nose job(search up before and after photos, most of these celebs have had nose jobs including Alicia Keys)... but c'mon... it just doesn't seem too genuinine. it's like, "oh I meet the beauty standards now (no acne and a Hollywood nose), let's go makeup free." and she's trying too hard to be unique.
I'm make up free for years and it's soooooooo liberating! do it - you'll love it- so empowering
Now I think about all the Makeup tutorials I watched, for nothing
She is so charismatic and down to earth just so completely LIKEABLE
Good for her, but I mean...I would find this actually empowering if she did this when she was struggling with acne and before her nose job....now that she has "fixed" her little "flaws" she decides to be "honest with herself"?...sorry but no,I don't buy this
I love Alicia but you're speaking the truth.
She has on highlighter...sorry.
i feel that. ... 💯
but why do we always have to put people in boxes? just because somebody had surgery or is acne-free doesnt mean they're not entitled to feel empowered now. we need to stop labeling people. its like people who say they're vegeterian but eat meat twice a year and people be like "and you call yourself a vegeterian?". why do people even care?..we need to stop labelling ourselves and others and leave space for individual living.
sanda.x the thing is I don't care actually, like I said, good for her,but she is the one drawing attention to her "no make up movement" so I'm entilted to share my thoughts about the subjet. What bugs me a little bit is that I feel like this could be a publicity stunt tbh and also like I mentioned before, the fact that she is preaching about loving herself and being "honest with herself" NOW that she has fixed her "little flaws".
I started this process age 22 which was 18 years ago, for similar reasons. No going back
A lot of people slapping on makeup to cover up their nasty skin don't realize that the makeup is creating the problem.
I love how she's just so chill
It would be wonderful to look as beautiful as Alicia does (with and) without cosmetics. It helps if you choose your parents wisely.
Black women have been doing this for decades and just because she is a "Celebrity" she gets all the credit for it I do not think so! just goes to show how people in the world are going out ass backwards!😶
i feel like shes always smiling!!!! so beautiful
WOW, she's so beautiful even without cosmetics! She has an even complexion, clear skin, supple skin texture, and her skin is GLOWING.
She's probably glowing cus of how free and happy she feels on the inside. Positive emotions SHOW on your skin!
she has concealor on
She also has lip gloss on
no im not black. why do u say
no she doesn't
under her eyes she does. thats where i meant her concealor. i don't know about anywhere else.
but good on her for leading this trend.
Be honest myself!!! such a beautiful messages she gave to me
Give me a break. She acts like she's saving the world by not wearing makeup. Big deal. Sign up in the military or do something actually heroic then we'll talk
And
Why on Earth all the confusion in the fabric all over her?... To compensate?... Weird.
She's representing the black women in a positive healthy light. Can you honestly say she have not done anything heroic in her life time ?
seriously ? she has influence on so many people. this is actually a pretty big deal. what happens most in this industry ? and she's going against it.
omg who knew she had such a baby face ... love it
If you're saying you're going to go makeup free than I better not see a drop of makeup. She is wearing something for sure that's not fair.
And she has her eyebrows filled in
I agree , but you are advised to wear a skin protector that might some what resemble make-up.
She is beautiful with or without makeup. 😍😘😉😀
Alicia"s always been her own person and I really admire her even more for being honest with herself and the world. It takes alot of guts to be challenged by all the idealism that goes on. She handles herself gracefully and I am digging this new Alicia!!
Also Lauryn Hill did this #nonmakeup
Yeah.. But she seem so unhappy inside at times that it didn't come across as well. The happy Lauren is black and beautiful
I guess she didn't Some Jane! LoL
+Some Jane You said that! Ha!
I would love to find myself in the place where she is right now about not using make up.. I love that! She's so naturally beautiful 💖
i knew i'd see a bunch of bullshit hating/trolling before i scrolled down the comment section.
if i was religious i'd be praying for y'all right now.
" every damn body" KILLED it for me, u go girl, love u alicia...sending out a positive message in this interview..X
I agree with you completely she's gonna see some karma in her life soon cuz the dirt she did 2that woman will come back to her.
Yes your actions do reflect what you have on the inside.. It's in how you deal with yourself after realizing you've made a mistake that shows true character.. No one is perfect, but some fail to acknowledge their imperfections and live as if their wrong has gone unnoticed
+Mattie love I really don't think that's how it went. If it did go that way , I believe , the way you get a man , will be the same way you lose him.
"We each have something that no one else has" I completely agree. I have always felt that way about wearing makeup or coloring my hair - do it if you want to, but you're kind of giving up a piece of your unique identity.
But she's totally wearing makeup here though
how do you know?
Back up.
It's called coconut oil. Not makeup boo. Stop hating.
