I almost got lured into one of those bars that scam you, or at least I was told afterwards that I would've been scammed. I went to the robot restaurant in Kabukicho, with some people I'd met earlier who were staying at a different hostel. So after the show and a few drinks, we went our separate ways. I was a bit tipsy and on while my way to the station I was looking around to see if there was something else to do before I went home. Then this African guy with a thick accent starts talking to me like: "hey there's a cool bar round the corner. First drink is free etc etc." So my dumb ass follows him inside into the elevator, and then he starts telling me that there are lots of pretty girls inside and "you can look all you want, and maybe touch". He gave me a strange look when he said the last part. So then I was like "oh shit, this sounds sus AF", so I told him I changed my mind and told him I was leaving. He didn't look pleased (guessing he works on commission), but he brought the elevator back down and I left. This happened in the summer of 2011, heard it's gotten safer since then.
