- The WDR BIG BAND performs "Quién lo diría" (composer: Rita Payés / arranger: Ansgar Striepens) with Rita Payés (trombone, vocals) and Elisabeth Roma (guitar). The WDR BIG BAND is conducted by Ansgar Striepens. Solos are played by Andy Haderer on trumpet, Rita Payés on trombone and Elisabeth Roma on guitar. Produced at WDR Studios Bocklemünd / Cologne (September 2022).

At the end Rita rightly thanks Ansgar for a very tasteful arrangement bringing out new possibilities in her song.
In an interview Rita talks of her delight at performing her material differently each time. I now notice Rita enjoying the adventure far more after hearing that. There are some stunning arrangements here.

"Music does things that God never could imagine." Ivan Lins, 2018. Though this song is full of mixed emotions, especially loss and regret, it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. It's a shame that only 10,000 people have viewed this! Ansgar's arrangement is stunning and this should absolutely be the theme to a major motion picture. Dozens of images come to mind of unforgivingly stark landscapes, physical isolation, emotional solitude and contemplative flash backs to earlier periods in the protagonist's life where he did things he can never escape from. It speaks of a journey both physical and emotional where the extreme hardships are eclipsed by the psychic endeavor to survive what his life has become. And yet, with this struggle, the protagonist is surrounded by unparalleled beauty - in an environment that just may kill him. This theme though, isn't without hope; there's always hope that things will end well. It's just mind boggling that Rita could write such a composition at her age, and all the performances are simply flawless!
