Suresh Gopi is an Indian actor, politician, playback singer and television presenter. He works predominantly in Malayalam cinema and has also appeared in some Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bollywood films. Suresh made his acting debut as a child in the 1965 film Odayil Ninnu. He made his debut as an adult in 1986 and since then, he has acted in more than 250 films. Suresh Gopi is a recipient of the National Film Award and the Kerala State Film Award in 1998 for his performance in Kaliyattam. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India.
On 8 February 1990, Suresh married Radhika Nair, the granddaughter of actress Aranmula Ponnamma. They have five children-Lakshmi Suresh, Gokul Suresh, Bhagya Suresh, Bhavni Suresh, and Madhav Suresh. Lakshmi died in a car accident while she was one-and-a-half years old. Gokul Suresh is a young actor in Malayalam cinema. Suresh resides with family in Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram.
Garudan is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language legal thriller film directed by Arun Varma in his directorial debut, written by Midhun Manuel Thomas and produced by Listin Stephen. It stars Suresh Gopi and Biju Menon in lead roles, alongside an ensemble cast including Jagadish, Siddique, Thalaivasal Vijay, Dileesh Pothan, Abhirami, Divya Pillai, Arjun Nandhakumar, Nishanth Sagar, Major Ravi and Jayan Cherthala.
The film was officially announced in April 2023. Principal photography commenced in May 2023 in Kochi and was wrapped up in August 2023. The music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, while Ajay David Kachappilly and Sreejith Sarang handled the cinematography and editing.
Garudan marks the reunion of Suresh Gopi and Biju Menon after 13 years. They previously acted together in the 2011 film Christian Brothers. The film is produced by Listin Stephen under his banner Magic Frames. Midhun Manuel Thomas wrote the screenplay for the film, following Anjaam Pathiraa in 2020. The story is written by Jinesh M.
