    Lindy won’t say it, because he’s a professional. But this is personal for him. He came here to win a cup

      I sure hope he's not thinking that. He's got maybe two years left to coach.

    The only lies I've ever heard about Hasek were gross understatements... He's the last single player who literally carried his team well beyond what the team deserved.

    Wayne! This will be the 3rd season I get the privileged of enjoying since finding your channel and I for one am absolutely pumped. I've been waiting patiently for this season ever since last season ended. You better believe I've heard it from my buddies and guys at work (Doubters) about how Lindy is a re-tread and how we are doomed as a hockey club, but I choose to not think that way. In the off season we made some small adjustments with no real "big splashes" but I don't think we needed anything big. I enjoy your channel and I appreciate your insight, your perspective and what you do Wayne. I can't wait for this season to really kick off after what I saw during our first pre-season game. I feel like the boys are fresh and hungry, having plenty to look forward to, along with us fans who also have plenty to look forward to. I have such fond memories becoming a Sabres fan and hockey fan back when I was younger. If it wasn't for my Grandfather, my Dad, Ames back to school shopping and fishing off the peace bridge my great memories associated with this sport and team may have never began, but here I am decades later, still making great memories through the ups and downs right on the precipice of a golden era for the boys. Here's to a great and promising season brother, Cheers!

    I remember walking up those concrete ramps in the Aud, heading for the nosebleed seats to watch the Sabres tear apart the Soviet teams. Then we moved to Metro Detroit. But this year the Wings are going to be changing a lot of goalies as the Sabres show no mercy.

    I'm glad I found your channel, it's exactly what I've been looking for. I was born in 1975, between games vs. the Flyers. I was born a Sabres fan, my heart beats for this team, and I feel really good about this year!!!

    79-80 was a pretty good year, too. No. 2 Sabres upset by No. 5 NYI in the semis, who upset the No. 1 Flyers in the finals. But yeah, 05-06 is still my favourite Sabres season ever.

    • @RoamHockey
      @RoamHockey  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      yes 79-80 we of course had to run into the beginning of an Islanders dynasty..I remember that year so well..it of course was Scotty Bowman having us super ready in his first year with us..I still remember Bourne taking the puck off of Perreault and scoring that empty netter to close out our season..ughhh 😖 but I did like Lindy going after Smith lol

    I was living in NC at the time and that was our year. We were fielding an AHL defense after injuries The cup was ours that season. Man, I’m hoping we can have that same manic. I’m encouraged that quite a few players have come through Roch similar to the 06-07 team.

    The "Ruffalo" Sabres wilbe a force this season. I feel it in my bones. 😉 The Mogilny/Lafontaine era was just before Hasek broke out big time. Relying on Puppa and Draper then Fuhr (and they had there moments) was nothing compared to prime Hasek. I suspect a modern day contract for him would make Carey Price look like a bargain! 😋

    If Lindy can lead this Sabres team to the promise land in this second stint as coach, there 100% needs to be a statue of Ruff erected in downtown Buffalo.

    I have a totally different recollection of Lindy's departure. I remember fans generally being okay with Lindy's firiing. He'd been here so long people were tired of him, rightly or wrongly. I thought he was still doing the job, but I also didn't miss him. Here's a paragraph from a New York Times story about the firing:
    "The consensus that Ruff needed to go had formed well over a year ago. The Sabres have missed the playoffs four of the past six seasons and have not advanced past the first round since 2007. Calling for Ruff’s firing has long been a regular feature of local radio shows."

    I never understood trying to do A Breakup of that Stanley Cup Final Team, especially Maxim Affenogenov (I probably didn't spell it right), who was such A Speedster, who could put the puck in the net. I don't know why they didn't go by Lindy's No Goal Statement & try to go for it, again, with Briere & Drury 1-2 Punch & Miller, in Goalie Duels with Lundqvist. That's Hockey, Baby.

    I grew up a Sabres fan, watched every game for years. Then around 2015, after years of them being bad, and the fact that I was paying like $120 a month for cable only to watch them, I decided to just quit. I recently realized how much fun I had watching them and decided it's time to go back. I found your channel this morning and I really like you catching me up on things. I look forward to watching my first game in almost 10 years tonight (slightly less exciting it's pre-season, but whatever).

    Everyone thinks the lowly Sabres have no chance to pass Tampa, Toronto, Boston and I think we are going to get payback this year. I want us to highlight every division game on the calendar and go to war.

  • @rozzer6501
    @rozzer6501 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Leaf fan here, no way I’d put the Sabres in the last place this year in the Atlantic. Personally I’d have them in around the same area fighting with Detroit and Tampa for a wildcard spot!

    • @RoamHockey
      @RoamHockey  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the Leafs need to be physical again this year and then the cup is up for grabs..the Sabres should surprise a lot of people this year..on a sidenote? I do think getting rid of Marner would be a bad move..instead you guys really need to unload Tavares if possible

    • @rozzer6501
      @rozzer6501 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RoamHockey it looks like they plan on re-signing both guys. Marner will be overpaid if it’s anything higher than Nylanders salary cap percentage. And JT will likely be a bargain at his new number, probably something like 4-5 Mil for a third line centre. Although I agree with your take that signing JT in the first place ruined the leafs salary cap. I will be cheering for the Sabres in any series that isn’t against the leafs when they make it!
