To be fair to the umpire, close run outs like these are extremely difficult to give out on the spot. Easier to see in the slow motion:) Also most grounds have white lines non visible from the where the leg umpire is standing, making it very hard to judge. I have given few not outs in my life like these, as I always give the benefit of doubt to the batsman when it is 50/50. Some people disagree with this approach though!
