Taylor st Little Italy in chicago is mostly not Italian anymore, young students and transplants mostly. An Italian/Scottish ex still lives there in the 3rd floor of her grandparents building, but very few YOUNG ITALIANS there…. Very small handful of the old restaurants and bakeries still around. Carm’s and Al’s for our “Italian Beef with giardinera”, Pompeii for grandma pizza, Ferrara Bakery. Most Italians moved to various other suburbs, especially DuPage County / Addison /Orland Park / Tinley Park areas. And/or other Chicago neighborhoods: Bridgeport was more Irish traditionally, but had lots of Italians, and a famous breaded steak sandwich on 26th at RICOBENE’s Which of the many “Little Italy’s” in NYC still has the most young Italian pop LIVING there ?
