He wrote a short story called Trucks a full decade before Christine, and then just after Christine was published he wrote and directed a movie named Maximum Overdrive based on that short story. In both stories, multiple vehicles (mostly semi trucks) "come to life" and kill people, and one of those vehicles is a military jeep (M274 Mule) with a machine gun, which is fully functional, attached to the back.

I’m not sure about other countries but “Pocket Circuit” was HUGE in Japan back in the late 80’s/early 90’s. What the game calls Pocket Circuit is actually based on the Mini 4WD model kit cars and the kids were all about the Cyclone Magnums and Tridagger X (I have probably lost all non-Japanese people by this point lol). I was genuinely amazed at just how much attention and details the developers got right, right down to the parts customization and the feel of the races they’d have at department stores. A lot of places even had the promoter/judge like the Pocket Circuit Fighter, except they were called Mini4 Fighters. Honestly, playing that minigame really brought me back to when I was a kid, and it’s truly amazing when any piece of entertainment can bring back such memories and emotions ;’)

@@flanaganb76 Oh, right. It's been awhile since I'd played ME2. I don't know, I mean, it's a tossup. Having to roam around in featureless mountains to put flags down where resources are, vs. just shooting the probes... eh. I liked the Mako, but mostly during story bits and the few planets that had better terrain, but roaming over the mountains I can't say was all that fun. So, the probes.... I can't say I hate them.
I'd say the best vehicle I ever handled from a non-driving game is the Seamoth from Subnautica. It's zippy, feels really good, and--best part--you can jump out of the water like you're a dolphin. Then again, I don't really play games that have "diving sections", unless we start counting horseback riding. Or flying around as a literal bird, in which case I recommend the Guardians of Ga'Hoole game. It's a short little game that was a tie-in with the movie, but aerial combat as an owl is quite fun.

I won't lie to you, the Dog Fights in COD IW are super fun & and fresh in the franchise regardless of the generic shooting it has throughout the campaign and the bad multiplayer mode... It would be worth buying the game if the game would be 20-25 dollars cause the dogfight sections are worth that much... IW campaign is decent too and the dog fighting side missions other than main missions made it fun of a game. The game tanked for other different reasons, in all honestly IW was a pretty decent game...
I really enjoyed that one mission in the new mw2 where you start in a helicopter before falling out and then parkouring your way up the convoy, high jacking vehicles and stuff

Speaking of vehicle sections in COD games, Black Ops has several memorable ones. Like that part where you get to drive around in Cuba for roughly 15 seconds. But my favorite part is probably the one where you and Woods steal an enemy attack helicopter and somehow know how to operate it. What makes it even better is the fact that just about anything you shoot causes a massive explosion. Like that oil pipeline that runs all across the level for some reason.
Would the Mantine Surfing in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon count? If it does than I really had a lot fun getting from island to island while raking up points. Not to mention doing all sorts of tricks, *sigh* it's so so good!
That Uncharted 4 chase was the most beautifully chaotic Michael - BAYHEM I've seen in a game in a WHILE! And to think, I decided to take a break on that game right before that chase starts in Madagascar, because I'm backlogged with so many other new-ish games that I haven't finished, after seeing THAT, I need to go boot up Uncharted 4 & finish it NOW! 😂
Might I make a suggestion? Destiny 2's tank segments. Rolling around with a massively powerful main gun, slinging lock-on missiles and plowing over enemies that are normally a pain to kill yourself. And the sound of the cannon is amazing.
When I saw the thumbnail of Yakuza0 in the title card I was like, WTH, that's the worst section of zero! Glad to see than Andy and I are on the same page. I remember spending hours on pocket circuit, ti the point I had to go fight people to make more money to buy more parts... I was well into my 30s when this occurred.
Enough shading the Mako already. It was great fun to go bouncing around the ridiculous planetary terrains in search of random points of interest, occasionally rolling over and laughing my arse off. Hammerhead had its moments too, but it was just jumping the Mako in comparison.

"The button Nintendo insists is A"
pretty sure if you're the first to make a controller with an A button you get to insist
I say once Nintendo reaches the sales figures Microsoft and Sony have they can insist.
@@clothar23 Nintendo singlehandedly revived the games industry and the DS outsold everything but the PS2 (which doesn't even have an A button). They invented everything great about game controllers including the d-pad, shoulder buttons, and a (useful) analog stick
Really appreciate the inclusion of the Halo driving escape sequence. it really was one of the most memorable moments in gaming history. I still have fond memories of that last mission.
Never understood the issue with the Mako. I thought it was pretty simple and easy to control.
A lot of it has to do with "off-roading" and exploring the more rocky parts of the maps where the bouncing and jostling the Mako does can be a pain when trying to get to those more obscure locations.
If you just go to Therum, Feros, Noveria, Virmire & Ilos then there's nothing wrong with it lol 🤣
Not complaining. But I feel like we are stretching the definition of "vehicle sections" a bit.
yeah no kidding lol
Anything can be a vehicle if you try hard and believe in yourself!
With that SMO entry, I kind of wonder if the Goron Race from Majora's Mask would have qualified. Would the Goron Mask be considered the vehicle, in that case?
@Leonidas Piledriver Don't watch it then...?
@@kamen.rider.decade this sounds like the concept for a driving game where the main goal is to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible.

I absolutely love the Mako segments in the original ME.
If Zelda is driving games now, let's not forget about the Goron Race in Majora's Mask. Love it!
i'm a simple man, i see Kazuma Kiryu i click (the Yakuza series is my favourite game series of all time and to anyone who hasn't playesd it yet, Pick up Yakuza 0, you won't regret it i promise, the stories and characters are so good and you'll really develop feelings for the characters, they feel so real) i'm still a bit bummed that Yakuza 7 is goinng to be a turn based RPG but i'll still play it as i love the series :)
I'm halfway through Yakuza 0. I can't believe I've waited this long without checking it out. The story is amazing! I love playing all the mini games and Mr shakedown was a pain to deal with when i was in the beginning. Love the game, im glad to see yakuza added to game pass and on xbox period. Xbox needs more Japanese games.
@@JimmyCooks25 good to see more people giving the series a go, it's incredible
James, I am downloading Yakuza Kiwami as I type this, should I play 0 first?
Chris Shukis you can start with Kiwami first because it is a remake of the first Yakuza game but imo zero is the better game
@@James-gj8rn Kiwami 2 is better than Kiwami though.
Commenter suggestion: James Bond: Everything or Nothing, the Aston Martin sections.
Such an underrated game!

The space battle in Halo Reach was such a cool break from the run and gun of the game. Its only heartbreaking that they never revisited it.
They did in Halo 4, but it wasn't as exciting as Reach's.
The Mako handled like a refrigerator on rocket skates and I loved it
“the button nintendo insists is A” but didn’t nintendo have the A button before xbox was even created 🤔🤔
Was looking for that comment ^^ sometimes you forget they come from a Xbox focused channel ^^
Luke, is that you, in Andy's body?
It doesnt matter. It's still in the wrong spot
Edit: and Nintendo has moved the A button to a different location for most all their consoles. only the handhelds are remotely consistant
@@JevinJohnson-CloudShift It does matter. Whoever designs a thing first sets the standard. Anyone who does something different is the one that's wrong. Nintendo had the A button first. It's always been the rightmost button on all their controllers. Therefore, the A button is the rightmost button. Xbox is the one that's wrong.
It might also be a joke about the game calling it A despite the player’s control setup, like if you where for some reason some madlad playing with the left joy-con it wouldn’t register
I can say with absolute certainty that the forklift racing isn't realistic unless somebody drives into a warehouse door, but this sport existing absolutely explains how much work i got as a warehouse door technician for a decade 🤔
But Jane, I love the Mako 😭
Where's Pontchartrain Bridge from 007: Everything or Nothing? That motorbike was insane!
Slander! The Mako sections were amazing.
I thought i was the only one 😭 thank you Sir
I wouldn't say they were amazing, but I didn't hate them.
I take it you weren't one of those people who felt the need to collect everything like myself and so bumped into those horrible Slippery Rock sections that you had to try and find a way to maneuver around by finding the tiniest bit of grass so that the Mako didn't slide down to get stuck in a pit for an hour?
@@Heartshapedbox81 Mate you think I spent way more time than necessary riding my Mako around whenever possible without collecting everything on every planet? :D
@@matternativ Fair enough lol, but I do agree that the Mako isn't nearly as bad as people make it out just that those particular terrains i mentioned are infuriating to deal with and real time wasters to get around
5:26 "Like Stephen King's evil possessed car Christine if she had a mounted machine gun. Which, you missed a trick Steve." ... Um, no he didn't.

Oof, forklift racing, that actually sounds fun.
On a side note when drifting a forklift they either slip or grip (no in between). I found that out the hard way when screwing around on the job and slammed into the lumber door of a HomeDepot while working freight... Don't know how but no one found out it was me that did it...
THE MAKO TRIED THEIR BEST, y'all so mean
People seem so confused. It’s the terrain not the vehicle.
I actually loved the Mako and would spend hours driving around in it.
Not by choice mind you, but because of the fucking empty planets you were forced to use it on...

I really liked the Mako...
“The button Nintendo insists is A.” Lmaoooo I’ve wondered about this same thing many times.
Whenever Mike starts talking, I start grinning.
Whenever Jane starts talking, I start relaxing.

8:32 no you're not! You're the hero of Wilds!
The mako in mass effect is fun. It feels like a buggy on a different planet! It handles fine! And it’s miles more fun than those crap probes that ME2 had!
I love the Mako! It's my personal challenge to see how many things I can implausibly ramp off of whenever I play ME1.
I didn't like the mako in ME1, but it wasn't terrible. Those probes are bullshit, though.
@@archmagusofevil Probes? You talking about the Hammerhead? I loved both vehicles for differing reasons.
@@Dhalin They're talking about the part where you don't actually land on most of the planets on the star chart. You just scan the surface for mineral deposits and shoot probes to collect them
@@flanaganb76 Oh, right.
If a shield and a walrus are vehicles, a horse can be one
I loved driving around in Mass Effect.
I also would consider the race in Majoras mask where you play as a Goron and turn into a ball with spikes alot of fun
NO DISSING MAKO!
I honestly *loved* that wonky af tank xD
OK but as someone who operates a forklift for a living, those forks are way too low to the ground if you’re going to drive them.
The motorcycle part of black ops after escaping the prison will always be in my heart

That spaceship sequence almost, *ALMOST* convinced me to waste my money on another COD game. That was shiny.
You guys just remind me of the sub story on Yakuza 6 when I have to help the Pocket Circuit Fighter with his son. That detail in which the "fight" you have at the end of the sub story is the Pocket Circuit Theme was just glorious.
Who wrote this one? I couldn’t stop laughing! The delivery, the jokes, the timing, the absolute comedy *chefs kiss*

andy: did you think this was about the highway section, are you out of your mind?
Speaking of vehicle sections in COD games, Black Ops has several memorable ones. Like that part where you get to drive around in Cuba for roughly 15 seconds. But my favorite part is probably the one where you and Woods steal an enemy attack helicopter and somehow know how to operate it. What makes it even better is the fact that just about anything you shoot causes a massive explosion. Like that oil pipeline that runs all across the level for some reason.
On the other hand, I remember Mafia 1 having a car racing section that almost made me hate all vehicles and their inventor.
Old-timey F1 was amazing. The bit the night before where you have to drive the car through town unseen to rig it so you win, though, was _not_.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.. You drive a tank and can run over enemy soldiers
Might I make a suggestion?
Destiny 2's tank segments. Rolling around with a massively powerful main gun, slinging lock-on missiles and plowing over enemies that are normally a pain to kill yourself. And the sound of the cannon is amazing.
It was a nice change spamming supers and using Sweet Business.
When I saw the thumbnail of Yakuza0 in the title card I was like, WTH, that's the worst section of zero! Glad to see than Andy and I are on the same page.
