Your face at the release date was so meeee. When the screen faded to black I thought our hopes of a release date went down the drain. I’m thinking they waited until the last moment to release the trailer, so that the wait for the release wouldn’t be so long. As long as the wait was, I am happy they did it this way. As far as the graphics go, I think its definitely an improvement from MID, and as much as I love the old graphics, I know it’s unrealistic to make a game in 2024 with 2000s style graphics. Plus there’s the whole issue of not running on newer computers. I’m feeling hopeful and trying not to be too critical until I actually get to play the game
I can't help but wonder if the lines, "Traditions are not changed easily," and, "You can never be too careful on the internet these days," are shade at the fandom xDD
I was feeling salty from HeR's multi-year marketing strategy, but I think they finally delivered with this trailer. Lots of puzzles, characters, and a RELEASE DATE - they exceeded my expectations yesterday and the game is coming much sooner than I expected. Obviously, we'll have to wait and see how the game turns out, but I'm actually feeling excited (just please don't play with my heart again, HeR). 🙏
The release date *shook* me. I wasnt expecting it so soon! The new game style is so different. Its essentially an entire new series with elements that pay homage to the original. This was probably the most cinematic trailer we've gotten yet!
It's not a good sign. Normally you'd expect for them to wait to release it at Christmas. It suggests that maybe they can't wait that long, and need the revenue now. I hope it's not getting kicked out the door early. We'll see. I'll probably play it but definitely not before seeing a lot of reviews.
@@GraemeCree they used to release games twice a year, one in spring (around may) and one in fall/winter. But I was surprised it's releasing this soon. There wasn't much indication it would be.
I am excited for the game. Unfortunately, I worry people will focus on the negative, no matter how much the game gets right. The old Nancy Drew is gone, but we have 32 games to celebrate that version of Nancy. Change is inevitable, and comparison is the thief of joy. I hope people can appreciate the new game for what it is.
A great point! We do need to remember that this is basically a new company and a new series, inspired by the old one. This is essentially the new Stay Tuned for Danger!
It's far more likely that fans of the series will give it undeserved praise than undeserved criticism. Think back to MID, and try to think of any unfair criticism that it got. There really wasn't any, was there? It was mostly legit.
To me, it seems like Covid severely impacted the timeline on this. I'll be interested to see if there is a preview at the end of this game or not. We know they have trademarked more titles so more games likely in store. Hopefully not quite as long next time. Excited to play, happy the release is coming soon 😊
I would like to believe that we'd get a quicker turnaround for the next one, but the timeline for both MID and KEY was about four and a half years. Hopefully you're right, though, and they can start making them more efficiently!
what I got from the trailer was Nancy was invited to Prague to recover family heirloom Gems I love the fact that they made it seem like someone was following Nancy and she was a little freaked out by it but I want more info on the black smog and the KNIGHT I love the story that reads along as the trailer plays
@@WizardKittenYT I love a good scare factor in a mystery video game so if Nancy's trip to the Czech Republic and the capital city of Prague has that element I'm all in for it
The entire bit of the knight moving from a posed position and 'following' Nancy seriously reminds me of the knight in Halloweentown High. Anyone else?!
I’m so happy you were streaming when this dropped! Nobody I rather experience this with! I have renewed hope in this game. I don’t mind graphics so much as long as the puzzles and story make sense. I definitely agree! I can look past less than fantastic graphics if the story delivers, so we'll see. I do at least need the graphics to meet the bare minimum though. No missing curtains, no rain in one window and not in another, etc.
@@WizardKittenYT I commend your attention to detail! I tend to rush through the games and didn’t notice these kinds of mistakes in MID. It was the navigation for me 😩
Now that I've calmed down, I AM excited for this game. The visuals of the knight and horse statue look so good, I like that this game seems to have a spooky vibe, the animation seems much smoother, I think I like the soundtrack, and I like what we've heard of this cast of character so far (I think I even hear Elisabet in there??). However, I wouldn't call this a game that looks like it was made in 2024, as some of the clues look flat, especially paper items. Also, I'm sorry to say, but this new Nancy still doesn't wow me. She sounds almost unemotive and like she's simply reading words off a page. Maybe she'll sound more natural within the full context of the game, but, sadly, Nancy is still a low point for me when I consider how hyped I am for this ND game. All that being said, I'm still happy and excited. I'm only bummed that I'll be in the office the day of release. Releasing a long-awaited game on a Tuesday was a strange choice, but so be it lol
Yes, there definitely seem to be lots of improvements and definitely some aspects where improvements need to continue to be made! I'm so curious to see the final product!
I'm going to miss the 2D backgrounds, which were so cluttered and brought the Nancy Drew world to life. Also, Nancy's voice direction feels... off in this trailer. (No hate to the actress, she is amazing in GI.) I'm still going to play though, I really hope this game is just one out of many more in the future.
CLUTTERED, yes!! Having detail in the environments makes SUCH a huge difference. The spaces need to feel curated and like every piece had thought put into it!
I wanted to pop back to this video and specifically point out Nancy's line delivery at 7:18 where she says "I wonder if I'm looking in the wrong place." I think this shows one of the most egregious acts of poor vocal direction. This line should be thoughtful, introspective, or maybe even murmured in frustration if it's meant to be pushed. Instead, it sounds like she's smiling with the line pitched up at the end. Nancy's direction really is an area that needs improvement. But as I said before, I am just stoked to go on this journey together! :) I'm sure we'll have laughs and gripes and just lots of fun this summer!
I saw the lockpicking and thought of a topic like "Nancy Drew characters as Skyrim (or another TES game) builds" but Nancy always starts the game at 0 Lockpicking.
Maybe I'm weird but I'm excited for the game. I've stayed in the dark for the most part. I like the idea and am waiting to see it before having a strong opinion either way 🤷♀️
You’re not weird! You actually have realistic expectations and letting yourself enjoy this gift of a game that they did NOT have to make for us. It’s those who can’t see past their own negativity and misery who are weird tbh 👀

Some thoughts: 1. Your excitement for the release date made me smile. However, I will point out that if Her Interactive does find a problem, I would rather they delay the game and fix it than release a broken mess. One more of those and the franchise is dead. 2. The line “Traditions are not changed easily” worries me more than I care to say. If they are trying to turn Nancy into a survival horror genre, I am….concerned. 3. Has there ever been a…how to say…unexplained “supernatural” phenomenon in the Nancy series? I couldn’t think of one off the top of my head. 4. I’m a huge fan of your Nancy drew analysis videos and can’t wait to see your blind playthrough of this, keep up the great work! :)
@@WizardKittenYT Also as my “way too early” plot prediction, I’m going to say this is a “the person who called us in is the culprit” game, I’m probably horribly wrong, but it’s fun to guess.
My first thought was !!!!! Yay new game! Second thought: Oooh looks much better already than the last one. Third thought: Oh no it looks like the same UI from the last and I didn't like that. Final thought: Circle back to yay! Then I thought what does Wizard think?! In regards to the UI, I have to remind myself that the UI updated several times from the first games to the last and while I didn't like it to begin with I did get used to it and adapt. As for the graphics, as long as I can play it without having to change the settings in order for it to load properly like in Midnight in Salem than I'll be happy. It looks like we get to explore more in this game and hopefully they listened to the fans and will give us more things to click on and learn about, instead of wasting that opportunity. I think the biggest problem in Midnight was that they changed too much too quickly after making us wait 6 years for a new game. Almost all of the game play that made the Nancy Drew series enjoyable had been removed and that shook a lot of us. I've seen several videos of people who started the series with Midnight and they loved it because they didn't have the expectations of the other games. I'm trying to not let my feelings of what happened with the previous voice actor for Nancy get in the way of the new one. Let's be honest, there were several times in the old games where the voice actress missed context clues while reading the script and put emphasis in weird places. But that got better with time, so I'm hopeful this new actress will also get better. Overall, I'm hopeful but not going to be naive and pretend this will be different enough from Midnight. I like that they were releasing clues and hints about the game, but not enough to get our hopes up like they did with Midnight. I think it was smart to wait to release the trailer close to the game release date. I think if they had released the trailer any sooner, it would have allowed too much time for over analyzing and then disappointment when the game is actually played. I can't wait to play, and I'm excited it's going to be here so soon.
are you 100 percent sure these will be the graphics or not and also i want to be excited about it but i worry that after so long on hiatus i wonder if its even possible to make a good game anymore but we will see the plot looks somewhat intresting i like jewel heists also i don't know if we should judge based off a trailer my sister said the trailer for wonka looked horrible but she enjoyed it and i think most other people did to what do you think
I can't be 100% sure, especially because the trailer mostly showed cutscenes and less game play! I guess we'll have to see what it looks like when it releases!
I'm gonna be very honest about this, but the game does not look that promising to me at all. while sure it looks like they are trying to bring in the puzzles, second chances, etc. that were lacking in the last game. However, what sets off warning flags is the releasing the game so soon and the game graphics. Yes graphics are not everything and I am not expecting some AAA-level realistic-style game, but there are so many inconsistencies and such that need to be brought up. Namely, you can see many scenes where the game features no shadows and lighting while in other areas there are, which tells me this game might have some heavy performance issues and many scenes/locations have had lighting and shadows toned down or turned off to help performance. The fact that this trailer presents some inconsistent graphics kind of tells me that despite the game 4 year development it is still not complete, but they can't keep delaying it so they are just releasing it right away as is. So, sure could be a possible step up from MID, but from the way it looks the red flags tell me this game is gonna be a performance mess like MID, Let hope I'm wrong of course.
Oof, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you for describing the graphics in that way, it helps me understand better what I'm seeing! I bet you're right...
WHELP! I am flabbergasted!! The game looks GREAT! I was sure they were gonna punk out and give us a date like "Coming Winter of 2024!" So, SUPER impressed that they cowboyed up and gave us a REAL date...and so soon, too! I'm not gonna buy it til i watch some reviews rolling in. The plot is still pretty vague. I think this looks a TON better than MID did. Faces look not-that-great to me...moreso when they are talking. Brittany's acting continues to underwhelm me. Overall, I think this game MIGHT turn out to be a keeper..I hope I'm right
I was waiting to see your thoughts because I know you are critical like me! I don’t want to negate the hard work of the team but I’m not thrilled. Will of course watch you play though! 🥳
There is one character of color out of the nine, but yes, the proportions are definitely lower. This game does take place in Eastern Europe, so there's that, but your point is definitely valid. Diversity is something they should be considering!
I want to like this game but I'm super wary. It worries me that we don't really see any gameplay at all. I hope they didn't put all their money/effort into the cutscenes and only halfheartedly did the rest of the game
My only big complaint is I just can't get behind Nancy's voice. I don't care that they changed the voice, but the voice acting is so terrible. It sounds like she's Dora talking to a baby audience every sentence.
agreed, her voice acting kind of feels like the standard preschoolers' cartoon protagonist. it's so stilted and lacks the charm the previous voice actress exuded
Okay, yes, but what I don’t understand is why. I’ve heard other characters she’s done and she’s pretty good. Why does she sound like a robot?!? I don’t get it!!! What are they directing her to do?!?

Brittany's acting continues to underwhelm me. Overall, I think this game MIGHT turn out to be a keeper..I hope I'm right
I hope you're right too!! I agree that there are still so many unknowns and I can't wait to see how they pan out!
I was waiting to see your thoughts because I know you are critical like me! I don’t want to negate the hard work of the team but I’m not thrilled. Will of course watch you play though! 🥳
Yes, definitely viewing through my critical analytical lens!! I see some improvements, but we'll have to see if there's enough to salvage things!
May seven is basically tomorrow 😭😭
Right?! So sooooon!
Anyone else think the all white cast of suspects is bizarre? The older games did a decent job with being more diverse but this is pretty surprising..
I definitely agree! Cutscenes can only do so much. I guess we'll see! 🤞
It does feel very "stock character." I wish there was more personality there!!
Nancy confronts the culprit with “Swiper no swiping!”
Okay, yes, but what I don’t understand is why. I’ve heard other characters she’s done and she’s pretty good. Why does she sound like a robot?!? I don’t get it!!! What are they directing her to do?!?
I want to love this so bad but Brittany’s voice for Nancy is just not it, it’s so distracting 😭 why does she sound like Siri
