The price is really high, but I have to admit that the PRX looks damn good with a gold fluted bezel. I hope they make a steel version or even a PVD coated version for us regular folks!

I immediately wondered how much gold was used in this! At least they could have used blued screws on the movement to dress it up a bit more and set it apart further from the non-gold models.

Tissot is probably testing the waters with this one. The fact that they released just one color variant is telling of that. They saw the success of PRX, had demands of different sizing and they gave us that. From the looks of it they will also do well. Now they want to see if the following of PRX is strong enough to be expanded to different price tiers and their customer base. Let's see if this becomes Tissot's Submariner/Datejust

@@eugenevedensky6071 I knew you were going to resort to Jomashop because that's the only gray market dealer that lists it for that price. Jomashop does NOT provide papers for any Tudor purchases. This means you don't get the RFID card with stamped serial number and date of purchase or the 5 year warranty card which means you're forfeiting your warranty with Tudor. This is a huge deal breaker . Not only do you not know the current status of the watch (was it purchased from an AD? was it stolen? was it serviced and re-purposed as "new"? who knows! LOL) but you also miss out on the warranty which allows you to take the watch to any Rolex Service Center or Tudor boutique to have the watch serviced free of charge for any reason whatsoever for 5 years. Even something as minor as getting it calibrated because it's not running to specification is covered under the Tudor warranty. And you know they'll calibrate it correctly unlike Jomashop. The reason knowing the status of the watch is so important is because let's say Jomashop purchased this watch brand new from who knows where. And even though it's "new" in the box let's say it was stolen from AD or maybe even directly from Tudor. That means that serial number is hot. If you ever take the watch for servicing in the future to any Rolex service center or Tudor service boutique and the SN is reported as stolen, they keep the watch and dont give it back. You also can't just buy the watch from jomashop and walk into an AD and have them check the SN. Only Rolex service centers and Tudor boutiques can look up serial numbers. If you're lucky enough to have one near you and you take the watch to "get it checked" at a service center they won't check it for you or "authenticate" it unless you agree to perform a service on it which you'll have to pay. Way too many caveats and drawbacks. I'm speaking from a lot of personal experience with Rolex and Tudor. And yes, I have bough both from ADs and from Jomashop in the past. Also wIth jomashop you get their 2 year warranty and have to go through them for anything. No thanks.

If this had solid gold indexes and hands, was a deep satin or gloss black lacquer dial (similar to how Rolex has on the newer explorer's) and was yellow gold, i'd *consider* it at $1500. But, i'm not sure that bezel is even 10g of gold, and as Teddy mentioned, it doesn't really justify the price. I also think as Teddy mentioned, a bit of work on the movement, chronometer, a bit of perlage here and there if we're really trying to class it up.
Edit: Looked up a Rolex day date, the bezel has about 4 grams worth of pure gold, at modern prices that's $240 of gold, let's call it $300 since this is a 40mm watch and we're being generous. Even if you add another 2g of gold for solid gold indexes and hands, i still don't see this anywhere close to $1850 like it is. I think Tissot is smoking a bit of crack with this one.

This watch just grows more and more on me. At first, I was meh, gold for an entry level watch ... now I see it as an attractive option. I do with the markers and hands where gold though. It's a big price jump.

Love my PRX 80. You are correct with the fluted bezel you are just paying for the gold. Also, the bezel is giving Rolex and I don’t want to look like I’m in a poor man’s Rolex.

Why are the majority of relatively lower priced gold options done in rose gold? I'd be all over a yellow gold version.

$1200 would've been a fair price. Good looking, but needs more. Maybe more gold accents on the bracelet, and an upgraded mvt

at 7:50 the price drops to $1350? are we getting a discount LOL there's like $200 worth of gold on that watch and they are charging $1000 over the price of the original. Tissot is just being greedy now

That is an expensive bezel. But it's a good looking watch. I think they will still move. Not my $2000 pick. But I would compliment anyone wearing one.

  • @andywilliams4887
    @andywilliams4887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Whilst the Tissot Powermatic 80 movement is pretty solid and fairly accurate at the regular price point - let's remember it shares it's lineage with many from Swatch Group's ETA, such as the Hamilton H10 - the price hike is way too high considering it's just for the thin gold bezel and it remains essentially an entry-level Swiss-made automatic watch.

Horoligicaly Tissot is older, better, and politically much more correct brand than Rolex. I would much rather pay for Tissot than for Rolex.

That is a beautiful timepiece. But why is it so much more costly that the other PRX watches??? I love everything about it, very striking look. Love that bezel, they have a homerun here, just not at that price point.

  • @darrenmay3578

Price aside, this is a fantastic looking dress watch! A complimentary leather strap option would add more value. Gold logo, indices and dial markings would add a luxury touch of refinement. However as is, for the price is questionable. Cheers!

  • @zachsousa8261

Personally I don’t like the look of a gold bezel on an all stainless bracelet. I think that even a small amount of gold on the bracelet would complete the two tone look. Also the finishing of the movement at this price point isn’t good. I know, maybe not a dealbreaker to some people but still it would be nice to see.
That being said I plan on buying the 35mm PRX when it comes out.

I have an 18k rose gold and carbon wedding band and am looking for a watch to match. Love this watch, although the brown doesn't quite match the black on my ring. Any other watches at this price or lower that use genuine 18k rose gold?
