My dad, Private Thomson Brown, was a soldier in Karachi during this time. It gave me chills watching the video. Its his birthday today and he would have been 93 years old. Thanks for sharing. I truly loved watching it.
I am very interested in talking to you. I want to know about his memories and what he saw here. his experience. I am from karachi and the thing is that there is hardly any proper documentation of these historical things here. Because people over here are just not interested because well... its a 3rd world country. I would like to know everything he told you about his visit. Thanks.
Excellent filming of Karachi of 1945. Imperial Bank of India building - resembles the one at Chennai Parrys Corner Building built during the British Regime. By the way, many a constructions of the British are identical throughout their colonies - particularly the Indian subcontinent. The Railway station is similar to that of (Madras) Chennai Egmore, seen in some other old documentary, more or less of the same period. Thanks to the editor. I want to see more such documentaries.

After World War II, Afghanistan and Pakistan were occasionally on unfriendly terms.
Pakistan sometimes refused to let the Afghans use its port of Karachi.
This forced the Afghans to become friendly with the Soviet Union to obtain badly needed imports.
