If anyone is doing this for school these are the definitions in the video Ecology: The study of organisms' relationship to other organisms and the physical environment. Interdependence: Interdependence is the idea that in order to survive a species needs other living organisms and nonliving things. Biosphere: The “thin veil” over the Earth. All living organisms(on earth) live in the biosphere. Ecosystem: All the organisms and nonliving environments found in a certain place. Community: All the interacting organisms in an area(or ecosystem). Population: All of the organisms of one type of species in a certain area. Individual / Organism: An individual living thing. Abiotic: Abiotic factors are the nonliving parts of a habitat. examples: Water, rocks, soil, sunlight, and temperature. Niche: The niche is the job or role of an organism in its environment. Generalist: Generalists eat a variety of foods. Specialist: Specialists eat very little one type of food.

OML YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER - Have a science test tomorrow about ecology, and since my teacher is so boring; nobody normally listens. THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING VIDEO!
the sad thing is I was searching for an indepth explanation of ecosystems (although this is not indepth and it seems the ones that have shown up are very introductory style.) I wish when I was searching for this stuff I knew the keywords that would give me the more indepth results but i’m looking for info I didn’t already know.
Now this is awesome, even as an adult I learned a lot from this. I am an organic gardener and use organism to create a quality compost, using compost worms to finalise the process. Thanks Marty

Great video. My Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies class just watched this video and gained a greater understanding of our theory work. Thanks you so much! From Mr Ty Cover.
About to graduate from college in a few weeks and despite the fact that my degree literally has nothing to do with it, lately I’ve been drawn to learn more about ecology. Happy to know a lot of this stuff is still vaguely familiar to me from elementary school. However, it also just reminded me of my unfortunate mispronunciation of “organism” during popcorn reading one time. It’s a memory I’d hoped I would’ve forgotten fully by now 😅 Anyway, happy learning everyone!
1)Meaning of ecosystem ? Ans- it is a community or group of living organisms that live in and interact with each other in a specific environment. 2) More about ecosystems? Ans- 1. An ecosystem is a structural and functional unit of ecology where the living organism interact with each other and the surrounding environment. 2. The term ecosystem was first coined by AG translate on English botanist in 1935. 3) What is ecology? Ans- the term ecology is given by Ernst hackel. The study of interaction between living organism and their environment is called ecology.
Teacher here - Glad to see so many of you actually watching this vid as compared to so many who copy and paste questions into Google search and then copy and paste answers into your work - with no thought at all!
Awesome video, how beneficial would a few courses of ecology be for a woodsmen. In regards to understanding animal behavior and living with the land in a nonparasitic way? Just a passion of mine, I also want to do mechanical engendering and business.
A point to note: An organism isn't referred to as a single 'animal', but rather an animal, plant, bacteria or anything that possesses the characteristics of life.
Equilibrium. Let's say we have a graph structure. Nodes colored red and black. Assign weights to nodes, integers. If the sum of the blacks and the sum of the reds are only within some small difference of each other, that's an equilibrium. It means one can still fall both ways. if the game goes on indefinitely.... Unfortunately in this game we require the full exhaustive list of perpetrators in order to have some assurance that we have won.
To whatever trickster that thought it would be ok to leave their mark on the subtitles of this beautiful video. Please stop being a bully, bullies make me angry ):

Y’all lucky, I have to teach myself ecology because my councilor messed my schedules up and I need to take AP physics next year but I was never tought ecology 😂 and you need it for the big junior test.
This is great vid, and I use it in my class, but I must point out one significant error... You discuss 'generalists vs specialists' and point to the weaknesses of specialists without discussing their adaptive strengths. In abundant environments, such as a rainforest or jungle, being a specialist often provides adaptive advantages. 'Generalists vs specialists' is therefore a function of species, niche, and environment - and one is not blanketly more or less resistant to extinction that the other. Even in a basic video such as this, it's important to be clear, and not be misleading. That said, it's still one of the best intros out there! I just wish this little piece were fixed up a bit. Cheers!
Being more or less susceptible to extinction in the circumstances of "punctuated equilibrium" is not the final test of being a successful species. By that measure, the dinosaurs were less successful than we are, and they lived for hundreds of millions of years, with modern descendants in the form of birds and reptiles whereas we humans are having trouble finding balance after about 100,000 years, and even in an extended species form (homo erectus) for only about a million. Generalists often do not have the specialized physical traits to adapt in highly competitive environments such as rainforests, where species co-evolve to support each other - such as hummingbirds with specific orchid species. Yes, in highly volatile environments, which are actually much rarer over geological / ecological history, generalists have an advantage. But specialization has distinct advantages as well, such as limiting competition with other species over niche food sources, and digestive adaptation for maximum use of those resources. In the context of the "Anthropocene", where gorillas, elephants, and pandas are being endangered by human activity, and human activity alone, it is unfair to label them as weaker species. WE are the punctuated equilibrium, and hiding our own misbehavior behind the guise of ecological vocabulary is a mistake. My only gripe with this excellent video is that it blanketly oversimplifies a fascinating ecological question - why is it some species have specialized over millions of years, while others have become generalists? It's like saying Columbus discovered America. Guess what, he didn't ;). If we teach our children the truth from the beginning, though of course through the correct and age appropriate vocabulary for the group, we will be much better off as a society. I will continue to use this video in my classes, university level ones!, but will maintain the caveat that there is more to think about with generalists and specialists than is presented, and I hope that others will do the same.
May I also point out that a panda used to be a carnivore and had to adapt to become a herbivore, so this is a good example of how they are capable of adapting. Although this may not always occur, they still have a higher chance of extinction than generalists.
saing dinosaurs lived hundreds of millions of years is not quite correct i think. while dinausors in general where present this long on earth i dont think that a specific dinosaur species actually lived the entire span. also they did not extinct due to not being adapted to their normal environment, rather our planet was struck by a meteor almost killing everything living on it.
