You don’t need to mess around with the display screen for wash wipe. Just press the button on the stalk. Half press for wipe, full press for wash wipe. You would have benefited by viewing the training videos before you drove.

Then when newbies watch this video, they will be like "omg i can't deal with it, no physical buttons". In reality, you only need to adjust the wing mirrors, steering wheel only once and save settings in your own profile. The car will recognise you next time you come close to the car and adjust everything based on your personal settings saved in profile.

Very true! You can also change the setting of the wipers (from Auto to 3 for example) once your press the button on the stalk and immediately use the left button on the steering wheel (the one used to adjust the mirrors and the wheel).

It's a fun newbie experience. Something to think about when you let friends borrow your tesla. For owners, they will have researched the functions.

I've just test drive a model Y, and the speedo being offset didnt bother me half as much as I thought it would, it was always just in my peripheral vision, so no need to look away from the road for it. The wiper thing did get me at first as it started raining during the drive, and whilst I didnt know about the stalk use for it, I did remember you could voice command it, so quick press of the right button on the steering wheel and "wipers on" and hey presto clear windscreen. I'm still not fully convinced, I think I'd like a longer test drive, do some distance and experience charging before making my mind up though

You can do a lot of things with the vocal assistant..lower ventilation, higher temperature, change radio station, listen to a sound

You should explain to non-Tesla users that the phone key is pretty awesome where you don't have to do anything.

    Thanks for the review.
It was generally fair I thought - although, I felt like a lot of your complaints about the car being complicated were just simply because you didn't take 15 minutes to watch a quick TH-cam tutorial or something. Many of your complaints about the car were simply due to the fact you had to rush and didn't have time to take a look through the settings.
The video gives off the false impression that you have to go into a menu whilst driving to get to the wipers, when all you have to do is use the scroll wheel, for example. Also, yes you CAN change the regenerative braking to 0. You can also change the steering and acceleration feel.
I do understand you had very little time with the car though. I enjoyed watching nevertheless.

Thanks for your comment and input.
Correct, it was on short notice (as are most of the cars I review on my channel) and I only had the car for a couple hours. My review was about ‘first impressions’ - not an in depth review. There is allot I don’t know about the car, I do hope to do another in-depth review (and possibly tutorial) on the Tesla.
Like everything, once you know how it’s done - I’m sure it’s easy. I did however, find the wipers a little too sensitive to the rain.
In regard to the regen breaking: this, I did look into online and there, it says they stopped this from 2020. When I returned the car, Tesla confirmed changing the regen breaking is no longer available 😩😩

@@shollysgarage Sorry I might be mistaken about the Regen braking then, though I just googled it and it seems like they have brought back that option via a software update - you can now choose between 'low' and 'high' regen I believe.
But yes my apologies, I wasn't aware they removed that option and you are correct.
      Thanks for the review.

One pedal driving is awesome thanks to the amazing regenerative braking once you get accustomed to it.

Ive had a Tesla Model 3 for about 18 months and I love it. For me the regen braking is a plus especially on narrow country roads. About the only complaint I have is the turning circle and the small mirrors.

wipers - click once on stalk then set level with scroll wheel (if set up in settings)
Regen breaking can be set to "roll" if you don't like it.

    • @shollysgarage
      @shollysgarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!
The “roll” is for when you come to a stop, you can choose roll, hold etc…

The regenerative breaking is something you just have to get used to for a minute. Putting the acceleration in chill mode can help with jerky driving during that time. No idea why they removed the feature to change the amount of regen though. I actually prefer the strong breaking because I drove in a different EV and it barely slowed down releasing the pedal. With Tesla you have almost no wear on your breaks.
You can also press the button on the end of the stalk to engage the wipers. Hold for spraying the windshield. Having a HUD with the speed would be a great feature, but I don't think we will see that on a Tesla because they're still going for the full self driving future.

To activate the wipers you can press them once for one wipe and adjust them on the bottom right press and hold to do a wash regen is done for battery and range key card is 1 below camera would say don’t want to say anything for build quality but is ok

I own a Tesla but i still enjoy watching these videos to see the reactions. Personally I love the car, except for the auto wipers and paper thin glass.
You'd get used to the controls pretty quick I think, I get in a gas car now and i'm yelling at it trying to re-learn the old ways. 🤣

one of the main problem of this car is it’s heavy battery.thats why people have drive carefully, specially watch-out potholes.changing tyres is another pain in the ass.specifically EV tyres are very expensive.

The regen braking is brilliant, just spend a day to get used to it. I hardly ever touch the brake pedal. Press right steering wheel button and tell it what you want it to do, eg "wipers on/off". Forget buttons, they are so yesterday :-) Oh, and the lexus is pretty useless compared to the Y (Compare charging... Lexus is stoneage)

It’s interesting to hear from a Tesla owner (I understand from your comment you are?)
In all fairness, by the time I returned the car, I was warming up to the regen breaking - I get why people would like it.
The lack of buttons is a personal thing - personally, I found myself getting distracted for the lack of them.
The Lexus maybe stoneage with its outdated infotainment system and Tesla being far ahead with the charging system - however, one cannot compare the superior quality and comfort of the Lexus over the Tesla ☺️

I like some of the innovations but the lack of physical buttons for basic tasks that you sometimes just want to do quickly is disappointing. The cars also look boring, fart sounds in the sound system can't make up for that. When Tesla open up their charging network to other makers the key benefit of buying a Tesla will be less significant.

I have one of these and it's the worst car I've ever driven. It's very ugly and embarrassing to drive. The cheap and tacky feeling interior is like an unfurnished apartment. The lack of controls and everything being done through the tablet makes it dangerous. The phantom braking has almost caused an accident on several occasions. The sensors are terrible which cause the phantom braking and the rain sensors are shocking. The handling is awful and ride very uncomfortable.
Overall it's a really terrible car and I can't wait to see the back of it.
