I think man's escape from Freedom by Erich Fromm can help explain why womens dissatisfaction grew in proportion to the progression of their rights. Freedom brings anxiety because of the consequences of taking personal responsibility (for men and women). Unfortunately, personal responsibility is hard to collectively organize around
