I don't know why I love dis song so bad but I just do. I'm an American born to parents of Afro-Guyanese descent. I love chutney in general just as I love all my West Indian music but dis song does just mek me go wild. I love the arrangement, how he sing it and he speaking the truth. Oh ma ninja, oh ma ninja, Guyana deh unda wattaaaaah!!! And to hell with all the haters!
i so agree with you .. in matter of fact, the ones who are arguing are actually 1st generation Americans, born of Indo-Carib parents.. Most of them are not even from Guyana or Trinidad and yet they are fighting lolz
I love this song! Big up all my guyanese ppl no matter what race. Is nah only indians does listen chutney yuh know! To dat person who seh dat it's all about "GT koolie people" ppl. Stueps!
If allyuh guyanese love goin guyana so much..then alyuh must love goin tuh TRINIDAD cause alyuh hadda stop off in TRINIDAD before alyuh cud reach guyana in d firss place...... an ah sure sum ah yall guyanese doh undastan dis comment ,so in simpler words...it doh even have no direct flights to alyuh dam country!
What the hell is with all the arguing, where is the love?!? Why do people from guyana don't like trinis? We should stick together if anything. There is good and bad in any country regardless. I have met some of the most ignorant trinis and guyanese, and some of the nicest guyanese and trini. I strongly believe we should let any indifference stand between the countries, and at end of the day all we have is ourselves and what we stand for, and what we contributed to this earth.
If your talking to me no i was correct when i said she took Indo-Guyanese songs and made them popular (also including Indo-Trini songs). Popular songs like Hai Ray Balamwa, Benji Darling, O Maninga, etc.. are from Guyana.
That why when guyanese go to guyana to visit, their can't wate to get the hell out of that place. All my guyanese friend told me that; my girl friend say she hat to hold-up her shit for an week' ontill there landed in Thrinidad to go to the restroom to shit becouse she not whanted to use the out-house that you guys still use down thire...lol
culturally its the anglophone carribbean...most never heard of it...and nothin wrong wit it ...my friend from guyana...i'm just sayin....its no better or well known than anywhere else
the song "O Maninga" is a Guyanese Poltical song that was sung by Nisha Benjamin. The song talks about the opression of the Indo-Guyanese community when Burnham was in control(An example: he banned all kind of Indian food items like flour, which can make roti). This song then was sung my Kanchan. Even to this day the Indo-Guyanese community in Guyana is still being oppresed.
Guyanese culture is different from Trinidad, Only Guyanese lovers will tell you it is the same as Trinibago. Guyanese whant it to be the same by doing, whatching what trini people do.
o lawd..ppl cant we jus get along...gt n trini is da same ppl, jus has a slight difference in da culture..its sad seeing ppl hate on their own indians and hating on your own ppl instead of uniting is da most ignorant thing out there.
You think i will not go there to see it for my self; let me tell you this! i travel a lot and don't make fun of other coutrys becouse yours is not grat it plenty of ways. I whent for a wedding but i stay there for tow weeks. Guyana have so much muddy waters, and plenty empty land and bush everyware i cant imegain. And i have nothing to do rely because the country don't have nothing to entertain people only nature.
TerminatingIdiots, I have no idea if it's suppose to be a continuation of "O Maninga," but from what i see it seems so. DJ Prakz chose a political based song and talked about the current condition Guyana was in. Anyways i totally agree with you this song can never come close to how Kanchan sang the original piece. I still consider her the Queen of Chutney even though she died. Her voice was soo beautiful. She took Indo-Guyanese folk songs and made them really popular.
Guyanese people don't have an identity of their own, but one that they adopted from Trinidad and like to call their "own". Soca Music, Chutney Music, Tassa, Steelpan.. etc - is all Trinidadian.
trinidad and gt people have similarities 1. both have high concentration of blacks and indians 2. both country's have problems with race i,e blacks fighting with indians. 3. both country main music is soca thats all i can think of for now. stop fight with each other and unite. love from a jamaica
finally someone agree with me. i have being trying to get torontodon to see and maybe realize how stupid he sounds, but it appears i was just talking to a brick wall.
