Nian is a beast that came in on the new moon of the new year and killed villagers. And old wise man then told the villagers the beast was scared of certain things (the color red, loud sounds, and many more I'm pretty sure I just can't remember right now) and so the villagers fought back with these things and that's also how the Chinese celebrate their New Year today to bring good luck. But yeah I went off topic but I'm pretty sure alot of those "dragon" design are the beast Nian. But anyway thank you for coming to my TedTalk. Apologies if some of this is a little incorrect as I learn the Chinese language I also learn about the culture and I thought I'd share :)
