Just bought a 2011 Freelander 2 HSE SD4 and I have been hoovering up all the Freelander vids I can find to watch. These are some of the best in terms of entertainment/delivery. Your tech Vids are excellent also.
I can assure you the start of the video was more stressful when George had forgotten the GoPro... but once the off road fun started we had a great morning out.
Great video again, well done. Just one word of advice, when driving off road try and keep your thumbs out of the steering wheel. If you were to hit a hole or rut the steering wheel could spin and break your thumb . Cracking lane too. Regards Non Stick Nick
As a Freelander 2 driver since 2012, it puts a smile on my face seeing this car doing so well offroad. It is a very capable and reliable car, never let me down, and had never a serious issue that made the car unavailable to drive. I am curious what random people in the UK thinks of this car in general. Here in germany you see some of them driving around but unfortunately british cars have still a damaged image to ordinary people. Cheers!
Hi there, LandRover is a bit of an odd brand, it's seen as a premium brand for the brave, people still pay a lot of money for one even though they aren't the best for reliability. I guess when they are bought on lease hire it's not so much of a problem. Out of interest, BMW, Audi and Merc... these used to be seen as premium but quality and reliability don't appear to be what it used to be with increasing use of plastics...what are the German people's view on the brands. Btw, this isn't me trying to defend LandRover, I have always wanted a silky smooth 6 cylinder BMW 4 series but have heard bad things about plastic components for timing chains and cooling
The Freelander 2 are very popular here in UK and seem to hold their value better than most land rover models, very comfortable and generally reliable and capable. So far love my 2013 HSE :-) our other car is a BMW 428i which has proved quite reliable too.
@@matthewhocken9133 I've owned 2 FL2s and never had a single issue with reliability. Took both off road as well. Just keep up with servicing and maintenance etc.
Great vid. Definitely need more external cams.. Roof cam and grill cam..I would have never found the channel if I hadn't brought my D3 last year.. Now I love your stuff. Need to do more of these vids, they look cool 👍
What a gorgeous narrow road. When you were at the bridge the overview was amazing. So much green and the only thing to ear is …. Silence. Lovely path and your enthusiasm as a team is marvelous to see. Simon you don’t need to kiss the tarmac because as I said before you are becoming a true off road master. Awesome video. Congrats you guys 🎊🎉👍💪
In the winter the ‘stream’ you crossed (which is actually the River Frome) really gets flowing and on occasion can be deep enough to flow back down the track you drove along just before it, may be worth a return trip later in the year! The drops the woman spoke of are at exactly 2:06, directly at the side of the right rut is a sheer 1-2m drop, if you put a wheel over you may well not get back out too easily. 👍
The correct rating for that route js "easy" but "with some undergrowth that could scratch your car." I feel sorry for greenlaners in England. So many restrictions with lots a short unconnected trails. Enjoyed the video. Just got a FL2 my 2010. I'm in Catalonia
In my humble opinion, straight off the production line with no mods, the Freelander 2 is probably the best - what I would call "fake 4x4" - ever made by a manufacturer. Its angles, clearance, and 4WD system are great. The Discovery Spoof cannot compare to the F2, nor the Range Rover Ejoke.
Awesome video, very enjoyable to watch - who needs mainstream TV ! Seriously I'm impressed with the Freelander. I'm currently driving a 2016 Shogun (NX). I would love to join you for a Shogun - Freelander challenge or maybe a Shogun - Defender challenge! I recently fitted a Warn winch, we can see who would be winching first. Unfortunately I'm in the North East (near Hexham), we have some good green lanes so if you want to venture up North let me know.
The confidence of youth. 🤣 Great lane though! Maybe a bit scratchy for my 2020 Defender. 😬 (Found it on TW2 though 😉) I'll be over your way in a month or so, it would be good to go laning with the Stig. 👍🏻
The Freelander loves it! Seems you you a cracked windscreen though. If you do the route again, try going the other way through it, then it will be a whole newish experience.
Yes this is the joy of our project car - it did not cost a lot so we are not too worried about any scratches... we did look at doing this in the Defender a few weeks back but i was too worried about the scratches.
Love the enthusiasm …. Will there be bikes in the future?? Bit off topic but as a possible product idea for the middle row ion the 110. Could the mounting holes between the skylight windows be adapted to have some form of hook 3D printed maybe?
Is there an easier green lane in the kingdom? Perhaps for the next vid, you could demonstrate that the Freelander can do a school run just as easily as a Range Rover
Green laning can be great, there's 2 things spoil it, local idiots that place nails, sharp objects in the puddles and block lanes with tree trunks and idiots that go off piste and rip up the countryside. I know someone who had 2 tyres wrecked on his disco 3 due to barbs placed in a puddle, Wales is bad for this.
