I was lucky enough to get a second chance and about five years later met my Thai wife. After thirty six years of marriage she has just been diagnosed with cancer. I've had nearly forty years living here in Thailand and have a wonderful family and in-laws. But of course it's what you put into your marriage that counts and it's not money. I'll be ninety in December, I hope. My wife is seventy four and who knows what the future may bring. A cure and a longer life for her, I hope. Regarding me as a glimpse whom I am, I am 69, great health for my age staying slim and active, financialy independendant, do not smoke or drink, and through my life became Theravada Buddhist. So obvious is no bars or such, not obvious is I prefer countryside living. I have been to Thailand 3 times, my neighbour here in Canada is Thai, I have a background of working for Japan, my late wife was Chinese, Vietnamese friends, thus I have what I would consider an appreciation of Asian and now Thai way of thinking. So alone I am fine and can be happy in Thailand and exploring retirement. I would prefer a Thai partner. I tried fo better or worse dating site and discovered there are those that are city based and wish to live there, and those that are rural based or wish to return rural. My definite way of life and wish is the rural style way of living. At my age not too far from good medical would make futur sense. The interest I receive is often from say a 49 year old Thai Lady, thus 20 years younger, and I do not know if this is attraction ( maybe??) or just more a security appeal. I am very upfront about being Buddhist and that seems to sort out the scammers that do not follow the Buddhist path of noble truth ( my assumption ). Of course there are thousands of videos so you can see what you want to see, or perhaps hear what you see for happy and sad outcomes. So in the end everything is my thoughts and what I manifest. I would appreciate your general comment with no strings attached if a 69 year old fa-lang should in general stay away from 20 years younger ? Your wife is a jewel and any farang thinking of marriage to a Thai needs to really understand that family is way way more important than you will ever be no matter how well you look after them. If you can accept that and i did, you can have a wonderful life. But a word of advice. Observe the family before making your decision. I'll leave it at that.
Funny. My Thai wife grew up in the country down south. There was 3 daughters and they all moved off the farm. At this point maybe one would give on the farm but my wife isn't one of them. She's living California but we'll buy a place for her when I pass on a place she chooses. But she's a city girl from the country. And she doesn't drink 😜

I know what you mean., and it’s a common source of conflict in Thailand farang couples. When a Thai encounters a problem they just let it be and they process it it quietly , but we farang can t resist to externalize it, our culture actually encourages us to do so. In a nutshell we are taught to not bottle things up and thais are taught sabai sabai. This then causes tension in a Thai farang couple where the Thai cannot comprehend why we have huff and puff about our frustrations and equally we can’t understand why our partner doesn’t want to discuss our problems🤷♂️ It’s nice to discuss these challenges with other Thai farang couples. We re not alone 😆
There’s no way I would sleep separately from my husband or a live in boyfriend, you guy’s are married you should be together at night in the same bed, that is just weird, maybe you guy’s shouldn’t get married, that’s my thought 😏
