@Darryl M I rather think that Gary Numan was influenced by David Bowie's Low and Heroes and by Kraftwerk's Autobahn and Radio Activity (not to say Ultravox of the John Foxx period), and then NIN has been influenced by him. Yes, he still putting out music and excellent too in my opinion (but now he imitates NIN that were influenced by him). Anyway Splinter and Savage are great albums.
Hey NICE 1, I play loads of Gary Numan on my home keyboards but just as a hobby. I'm SLOWELY but surely creating my own rendition of I Nearly Married a Human & a few others WONDERFUL Gary Numan did with his PROFOUND talent & WELL DONE again you lot From Rich in good old Edinburgh.
Superb. Really original interpretation of a classic song. They should consider covering Are 'Friends' Electric and adding their genius to that classic Numan song also. Brilliant!
as mr eno has said these are the one of the best new bands around. if not the best i've pretty much hamered the album. can't think of many better debut albums

Having saw Gary Numan in 1981, it was the right tempo for the time. As I've aged and become more mellow, this song is rendered beautifully.
