Molybdenum glycinate (a chelated form of the trace micronutrient molybdenum) shows potential to treat "traveler's diarrhea" (along with secretory diarrhea in general) because it can lead to inhibition of adenylate cyclase, which gets cAMP going. That helps explain why travelers to regions where legume consumption is high (legumes are a very good source of dietary molybdenum) get hit so hard with diarrhea while the local people tend not to be. Also, molybdenum is stored in the liver and delivered to the duodenum via the biliary tract, which helps explain why young children--who have immature livers--get hit so hard by diarrhea compared to adults.
Excellent teaching, good info. will use it to help train my staff. Thank you!
