That was verging on sacred. I listened to this just before I went into my favorite teriyaki restaurant. I went in and Naum greeted me. I asked how she was and through tears said her father in law died that morning. Her husband was in the back working hard on more orders. She put her hand over her heart and talked about his dad doing her best to keep it together. I couldn’t hold back the tears. I knew how she felt. It was a great moment. I think in a way this song helped soften me for the upcoming moment.
I remember when I was young listening to this album every night on a Walkman I would hide under my pillow and try to escape life for a minute. Completely understand bro.
Excellent performance. Thank you. I find myself closing my eyes and floating and rocking, like soft wind through the tree tops. This song is angelic, powerful and deeply healing to me. And I hope they are to you, as well!
@@redadamearth Yeah, there was stereo audio already in the 60s, and that's what we're using today so it's not like audio evolved. Well, with internet and audio compression we could even say that audio degraded.
I remember this song, it came out right in my early 20’s. Those were the days. Hanging with friends and listening to alternive music as well as many other genres of music. Great song. I personally can mirror the 2nd two verses of this song to my life.
I remember the day after I watched this on Conan back in 1994, literally running to buy this CD. It's always amazing to hear how excited the audience gets when he introduces the band, right before they start to play.
Yeah I wonder if the audience on this show was always this excited for any kind of live music, or did the Crash Test Dummies just have a lot of their fans get tickets for Conan?
I agree I am 35 almost 36 and grew up as a kid in 90s good memories with the music and movies and being able to enjoy being a kid playing outside before the over abundance of technology like texting, video visits etc took over.
To remember, Crash Test Dummies came out at the same time as Nirvana … I bought their album immediately, as well as the first bootleg Dave Matthews. Their lyrics, sound and cover art was just so different.
She has help from another background vocalist on this rendition, not sure who that woman is but she certainly helps with the "ethereal" sound in this rendition that is not quite present in their official studio recorded version.
"I guess i forgot that you never ever make a mistaake😭" 😂 All i ever picture when i hear the harmony is Harry walking down the road with his thumb out lol
Even when I heard this song as a child for the first time, the weird mediant harmonies it uses totally amazed me. I had no idea about music back then, of course, but I knew there was something special about this song. These days I study (classical) music theory and mediant harmonies are the most normal thing in the world to me now, but this song still touches me. Chord progressions like these are used too infrequently in popular music. They really make this song stand out as much as the lyrics do.
The musicianship this band had especially playing live on tv, is remarkable. Not something many bands have ever pulled off. Let alone the harmony’s that took place. Amazing.
Hard to believe its been so long - the Crash Test Dummies from Winnipeg - a Canadian dream, on Conan, on Letterman; on a movie soundtrack - they did so well! And who doesn't love singing along?
Well, had I not been going through some Weird Al stuff yesterday, I might never have heard this but I must have listened to it 20 or 30 times since! It's amazing sometimes how songs are brought to your attention. Such a haunting hook and wonderful chord progression...and these harmony vocals here are incredible! I'll have to start getting into the rest of the band's music, see what else there is to find.
This song randomly came up on a Spotify playlist for me and I immediately ran to TH-cam and played it on repeat I think 20+ times 😂 there’s something about this song man, I’m so happy I came accross it
I wished I had fallen in love with this song earlier in life, but I only listened to the full song about 8 months ago.. This song would have been perfect to sing for school talent shows or something
The unsung hero... the sound engineer on the TV studio set! Brilliant sound! :-)
The vocal harmonies are ethereal. I didn’t realize they were this good.
Yes - this was SOOOO GOOOOD LIVE!!!!
Brad has such unique vocals
Amazing and still in 2022 gives me chills
@@SpinDoctor91 perfect for this lovely tune
@@thomaskemer8109 I agree amazing performance 💯
The sound quality of this live performance is simply awesome.
Incredible job by the sound production crew. I used to be a sound guy.

The harmony is heavenly.
This song makes me really miss being a kid. Brings back alot of good memories.
Words don’t do this song justice you can’t imagine as a boy with a terrible childhood this song and many others from this band saved me 🤘🏼❤️
Lyrics deintifintly could b better!!!

This song is literally stupid as fuq. If this is your savior, holy shit, you could look at anything and thank it...
I remember hearing it for the first time as a small town outsider and feeling less alone in the world.
A special song and a special performance.
Totally outstanding live performance of this now legendary song.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Can I just have the last minute of this recording play on a loop in my head for eternity
Totally. So pretty and emotional.
I agree! That drop off doesn’t ever want to drop off. It’s one of a kind.
maybe that makes us play it over. i agree. i think even bach would have thumbs upped it
This could be the cleanest live performance I’ve ever heard and it’s old audio
Not even close.
"Old audio"? Dude, it's from 1994. There's perfect live performance sound and 4K picture quality from the 60's. You must be extremely young.
@@redadamearth Yeah, there was stereo audio already in the 60s, and that's what we're using today so it's not like audio evolved. Well, with internet and audio compression we could even say that audio degraded.

God I miss the mid 90s.
It’s not all about you, nerd!
Same here! Just a different time. We same age id say. I get the best vibes from that jam! What a time to been around to enjoy!
Hold on, you'll be 55...60...65 soon. Life goes fast. Treasure the moments.
62 here! It’s ok for me. Lol!
Love the bass line. The nostalgia hits hard, beautiful times.

An entire decade a moment? You possess needs that are special

Dude this performance is amazing. The storytelling, the vocals, the harmonies. Stellar.
The lyrics are straight garbage though lol
amazing sound for a live performance
Possibly the best live version of any song ever written
Give 'STEELTOWN' by Big Country - on the 'Without The Aid Of A Safety Net' tour a listen to........ THAT'S right up there too IMHO. ;-)
hot take
but fair enough
One of the most underrated bands. Pure talent.
To remember, Crash Test Dummies came out at the same time as Nirvana … I bought their album immediately, as well as the first bootleg Dave Matthews.

Ellen's voice really brings this song together.
Yes it does

@gmar7836 she had the voice, and the looks...definitely a sight for sore eyes
This was an exceptional time for very interesting music.
The harmony is beautiful - awesome job ❤️
One of my all time favorite bands! Never really got the recognition they deserved!!
That happened to a number of Canadian bands.
He is such a unique voice. It's mesmerizing
I’ve always been impressed with their drummer too! He and the bass player are incredible rhythm section!
One of those songs/bands I didn't appreciate enough when it was new.
I really love and appreciate it now.
I LOVE towards the end when the harmony fills in with AHHHHHH, AHHHHHHH. So nice!
Omg, I remember watching this as a senior in high school. Damn time flys
Conan brought me here. That SiriusXM interview was hilarious!
This is the most 90s thing I've ever seen and it's beautiful
Didn't realize how much I liked this song till 20 something years later... kinda magical
I never noticed in the music video just now but Crash Test Dummies had a hot pianist.
“Well pardon me mr PERFECT!!!”
Absolutely!
"I guess i forgot that you never ever make a mistaake😭" 😂 All i ever picture when i hear the harmony is Harry walking down the road with his thumb out lol
Such a great scene in that movie with this song.

Home. I'm WALKING HOME, Lloyd.
Vocals are excellent as is the tune! Super stuff from this band over the years, content and themes are so interesting!

Hauntingly beautiful.
A radio classic....brilliant song ....a song that takes you back to a moment ...good or bad....brilliant.....just brilliant.
Le duo des 2 chanteuses est aussi une merveille .❤️❤️
great harmonies
I think the real heroes are those two keyboardists. Transcendent vocals and chords that reach for the sky.

Wow sounds just like the album. Respect

How's it going?
look into supermans song
In an interview later in life, Brad admitted the lyrics are all related to his own life experiences
Indeed! It's an incredibly poignant song. He is a brilliant songwriter.
Each verse is about a different person that he heard or read about. Not really things he experienced.
SO GOOD LIVE - I WAS IMPRESSED!!!!
Simply Superb!
WOW! I Love This Music and it is Performed So Well, Thank You CTD's
