    I am a Man Utd fan but I watched this match and I will never forget Wilshere’s performance. This was an incredible Barcelona team with some of the greatest midfielders to have ever played the game. Yet Wilshere was the best player on the pitch that night by a mile.

    • @jordanjuniorallen123
      @jordanjuniorallen123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      He does drift past players, thing is now he can’t play like that too much anymore so he picks and chooses his moments. The way he played is the reason he suffered so many injuries. He has to take it abit more slow now and limit himself.

    • @pilgrimpater
      @pilgrimpater 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He chooses his moments in order to avoid being predictable. He has never been physically blisteringly fast as it is the speed of thought that allows him to drift past players. For me, he is still head and shoulders above the rest of Arsenal midfield and it's not his fault that he is no longer surrounded by players who can take advantage. Sometimes when he makes a pass i often wish it was another Jack receiving that pass. For me, hIs weakness? Not enough goals (the only area where the likes of Ali is superior). Either way Wenger is mad to want to get rid of him and Southgate will probably pick the usual journeymen midfield..

    This is why you need to be very careful with some young prospects. Your body doesn't reach its physical peak until you're in your early 20s. Too much game time before then could lead to career defining injuries. Wilshere at 19 played a 49 game season. Remember Michael Owen? When he was 23, he already had 300 appearances. Injuries ruined him too.

      I know this is old but this is kinda dumb. Basically every football talent is playing games regularly, even if its not in the first team it’s with the Academy. So it makes literally no difference. Jack Wilshire was just naturally injury prone, and that causes lack of games and lack of games = lack of form.
      Either way he was bound to fail eventually cause to keep a good form you need to play regularly and if he couldn’t manage that he was gonna lose form anyways

    Just stumbled upon this vid after reading some comments where people were debating whether he can be considered a ‘legend’. A massively overused term obviously. First game live that I saw Wilshere was the Emirates cup when he scored twice against Rangers, he was 17 & looked absolute class from the stands. And regardless of whether people consider him a legend or not, given how phenomenally good this Barca team were, Wilsheres performance that night was legendary. At 19 years old, against Xavi & Iniesta. He also finished off a legendary Arsenal team goal against Norwich. Such a shame that injuries meant we never got to see how good he could’ve been.

    This is the best version of wilshere. Humbly moving the moving the ball, and driving on occasions. It was his style of play that contribute to his injuries. If he played like this more often he may have faired better
