So, naturally, I started amassing a modest collection of switch games (and I still don’t have enough time to play them all lol). Since I got on the Switch bandwagon so late, I figured I would stick with the Switch Lite and hold out for Switch 2. However, for the reasons you brought up, and others like - unforeseen supply chain issues, another chip shortage, initial bugs, firmware updates, and software patches - I decided to pickup a Switch OLED to tide me over until late 2025, possibly 2026 (got a great deal on one). I have lived in a small town with one big store. It was hard to find anything so online would be the only way to buy it. Unfortunately scalping isnt going anywhere. Its kind of necessary at this point.

I would suggest release in 2 diff phase. 1st phase is only for people who already have active nintendo switch account more than 6 months and are offered to preorder online or in shop. The first time user can only get it in shop limited to max 2 console. 2nd phase (weeks later) is open for first time user l they can order online or go to the shop.
Nintendo partially delayed launch to stock pile systems to ease the demand. I agree retailers could do a better job of limiting the impact of bots and scalpers on hot items. Comsumers could also help by not paying scapled pricing and learning patience. Nintendo could also sale them directly to account holders.
Why can't companies have pre-order deposits to get an estimate how many they need at launch? Example.....sign up with nintendo, sign an agreement to not resell the system for 1 year. Then pay $100 deposit. Nintendo would then get and estimate how they need for those who pre-ordered plus for stores. If nintendo doesn't want to deal with logistics, they simply print a $100 voucher for any nintendo store.
This is too much hassle . Nintendo is still a business they need money. Just dont sell preorder online unless u have been an active switch user for at least 6 months. The rest will need to queue in shop physically at least until everyone gets it normal price.plus what will nintendo do if consumer sign agreement but sell within a year due to financial prob?
Got a feeling my nintendo members will be able to buy a switch 2 directly from Nintendo. But obviously the average consumer won't go down that route, and will potentially find stores sold out
You know how you beat the scalpers? Only sell the console in physical stores for the first year… don’t provide to distributor unless they guarantee no online sales for a year.
The issue with that is Nintendo has their own online store, they are surely going to want to sell it in house. The issues with scalpers will be from the physical stores, GameStop, Target and Best Buy, who’ll put up preorders for the console when it’s announced. It’ll be down to the retailers to limit purchases to 1 per account, or like you said limit to in person reservations only. Nintendo’s online stores have been pretty good for preorders in the past, and during the Switch generation in particular, they’ve learned from their mistakes with the Xenoblade 3 special edition, limited edition OLEDs and amiibo of all things on how to handle demand. It’ll either be like trying to buy concert tickets, in a queue to limit traffic. Or an online ballot/ sign up reservations. I’m no expert but surely Nintendo has a fairly reasonable estimate for how many units they expect to sell within the first sales window. Given the switch userbase is 150m~, a 5% turnout seems reasonable, so 7.5 million switch units globally at launch, or even 15m globally seems reasonable. I can only assume the way for Nintendo operates, is to take preorders before actually shipping units, if the preorder period is 10 weeks long, and they receive 10 million orders then these batches are sent out. I’ve never worked at retail, but I can only assume it’s a similar procedure except with a hard cap on total orders. i.e. each target can only accommodate 50,000 units, granted those likely fill up fast, but for less demanded products like the peach switch game last year, if under-fulfilled they wouldn’t send out the maximum units. Nintendo will be proactive in letting consumers know if there are any stock issues, or expected restocks.
I doubt wil be that hard 2 get. Sure it will sell out at the beginning. But the system is based on mostly Easley 2 produce parts. Also nintendo hinted they already producing the system for a while now to get a hughe stock ready when they decide 2 launch.
I still remember being in Gamestop the year the switch came out. I was lucky and had been able to preorder one but a friend of mine had been looking for one cause he wanted to play Mario Odyssey and he didn't want one of those bundles. He just wanted a switch so he could buy Mario when it came out. I asked if they had gotten any in recently and the employees there just laughed at me and proceeded to trash talk Nintendo cause they "sucked" and they weren't shipping any out and they were doing in on purpose to create FOMO. I then brought up all their bundles online and they didn't have anything to say to that.
Now something they could do is a February reveal, and it is out March 21st with Xenoblade X and reveal that the console is a DS-type and they have a dual-screen version of Xenoblade Chronicles X as well for the next console and in 2 weeks have a GIGA Nintendo Direct which showcases Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe which also releases March 21st for the next console only. A big 3D Mario would be in the reveal trailer and for the first holiday of the console. Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe would be Mario Kart Infinite and entail: Everything Mario Kart 8 offers and an entirely new open world sandbox adventure to freely drive around in, nothing with real substance, but would have interesting areas to look at and terrain to navigate around and just be a cool fun thing for Mario Kart.
it's better for them to launch it now and get the scalp started because if they wait until October for a Christmas/ holiday release, no one is having a single shot.
If i understand the industry then they sell the console at cost or below( rarely for a profit) and make the money back on the subscriptions and software(games). If scalpers bots etc. buy up the consoles that means there are consoles that will not be making revenue for Nintendo just sitting in someone's house. I dont understand why company's dont do something about this issue, look at how many people wanted the ps5 but scalpers got all of them at launch. All the scalped consoles could have been making Playstation(Sony) money but the money went to the scalpers.
I think when Valve launched the Steamdeck is was done well. You have to have a Valve account and purchased a game before the announcement date to qualify to preorder. I realize this is probably unfair for new users, but at least it stopped scalpers from creating a million fake day zero accounts to preorder. Nintendo has user accounts on just about everyone (yes, technically you don’t need one) - limit it to one or two per account initially so everyone has a chance to buy one first and then open it up to non accounts and retail customers.
Since the Switch 2 is just another Switch upgrade then we can add it to the current Switch sales. Sony is doing the mid fresh with the Pro adding new stuff so the same can be said with Sw2. So now we wait for it's releases.
Getting a Switch was hard. It took me a few months. Getting a PS5 was an unbelievably difficult process. It took me over a year. When my order finally went through, I couldn't believe it!😅 Maybe Switch 2 is delayed because they are trying to make enough to combat scalpers.
I want to start off by saying I fully agree. Scalpers bad, let people preorder thing, have enough product for us to buy. But thing is… Nintendo already commented on their plans to avoid the resale market and scalpers for this new console? Like, back as early as July, from what 8 saw for articles and videos on the news. Just look up Switch 2 scalpers for what I’m talking about. This is all ranting over what Nintendo have said they plan to avoid this time. If they succeed remains to be seen, obviously, but this is old news, my dude.
I didn’t have a problem getting my original switch day 1 but the ps5 took me many months to find lol I am a little bit worried because I’m a die hard Nintendo fan while the ps5 was an easy wait. I’m also thinking the launch lineup for switch 2 will be a lot more exciting and I refuse to play Metroid Prime 4 on my old crooked switch 😭
How's nintendo going to tell us when gamestop will have pre orders available.... doesn't make sense. I feel you on it being frustrating but preorders on other sites are largely out of their control. They combat it by delaying the release until the have the stock
Nintendo has acknowledged the scalping problem and their claimed solution it to simply produce more than enough consoles for launch. It's a nice idea, and I assume that's partly the reason why it's taken so long to see a successor to the switch, but only time will tell if they actually manufacture enough of them. Ultimately, scalping is a symptom of our suffering economy. Everyones strapped for cash and will do whatever they can for a little extra. That includes scalping
Wasn't it mentioned that Nintendo is planning to increase production in order to meet demand? So I'm hoping this won't be as big of an issue. Though yeah bots and scalpers are a big concern, I'm hoping there are ways to address these issues.
Real answer: if they make, let's say 100 million consoles and only 40 million consoles sell lifetime, you tank the company. The only thing they could do to soft counter scalpers is to have a short period of time where nothing is released for the console until official store release date and lets people buy a console like a month early if they had an active online membership and it be one per household.
As bad as they are, scalpers still equal sales. I have a hard time hating on them for that. I know I won't buy from a scalper, I'm not that desperate to own my next Nintendo console, and I'm willing to wait a year.
I disagree with them not caring who the systems go to after the console has been purchased. Scalpers get em = no software being purchased. Human gets em = spend money on software
The simple answer is price point and demand. Demand is going to be higher on a product that is actually new and is actually affordable to the common consumer. A mid-generation “pro” level device is far less attractive, making it easier for Sony to keep up with demand.
It’ll only be a worry for me if mario kart 9 is a launch title. If it is, I’ll want this thing _day one_ no questions asked. If it isn’t I’ll chill & wait. Either way, I’m planning to order it on Amazon and let them do the hard work for me, as usual 🤷🏻♂️
15:06 And there's the problem. Can they actually produce that many, AND still release the console for FY25? 🤔 Is this why we've been blowing in the wind for far too long without any official glimpses or info on the Switch 2? 🤔🤔 Would it even matter if Nintendo was able to procure 5+ million units to twart bots and scalpers because they would still grab enough of them to cause problems? 🤔🤔🤔 It's a mess, good luck to everyone trying to buy one.
To fight scalpimg must also be of intrest for the companies right ? Didn't Sony lose money because they couldn't sell ps5 exclusives because nobody had a Ps5 ?
I doubt it'll be that difficult. I feel like everyone who wanted a PS5 day 1 hour 1 got one. The mass hysteria came slightly after. Just be as ready as you can. My biggest concern is 3rd party support
Definitely not true for PS5. I can confirm as in the story I told in this video, that I tried for several months to find PS5s for two of my friends. All three of us were on the lookout for months and months and I just HAPPENED to catch GameStop on a day they got a handful in. I also couldn’t find an XSX for over 6 months. It was a shit show.
@@Ruleof2Review PS5 was really not hard to cop day 1. It became a mess after day 1 sure but it was genuinely a non issue if you locked in lol. Nintendo already said they're preparing. Whether this means online members getting first pick or flooding the shelves, as soon as pre orders drop will be there minute one with my console in the checkout, maybe even try for a backup pre order on amazon just like many successful day 1 purchasers of the PS5.
Oh you can bet that most people aren't getting one of these bad boys until a year+ after release. Scalpers ALWAYS find opportunity with nintendo products, and now that scalping has gotten even worse over the years, combined with a $300ish price point? Its gonna be biblical lol.

Nintendo can still sell online (only for active 6 month user) but the rest : physical at least for 6 months
Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe would be Mario Kart Infinite and entail:
Everything Mario Kart 8 offers and an entirely new open world sandbox adventure to freely drive around in, nothing with real substance, but would have interesting areas to look at and terrain to navigate around and just be a cool fun thing for Mario Kart.
it's better for them to launch it now and get the scalp started because if they wait until October for a Christmas/ holiday release, no one is having a single shot.
I don't think they'll wait until October tbh, most are expecting March - july
If they just do what Valve did with the Steam Deck then we could all be happy, but I doubt they will.
Again, only works for however many Nintendo is willing to stock and run logistics for. Buying elsewhere is the real challenge.
Since the Switch 2 is just another Switch upgrade then we can add it to the current Switch sales. Sony is doing the mid fresh with the Pro adding new stuff so the same can be said with Sw2. So now we wait for it's releases.
With my luck I’ll have trouble snagging one. It’s so stressful. Awesome take man! Agree with you 💯.
Sending us all good vibes and good luck to get our own Switch 2 on day one!
Getting a Switch was hard. It took me a few months.
Getting a PS5 was an unbelievably difficult process. It took me over a year. When my order finally went through, I couldn't believe it!😅
Maybe Switch 2 is delayed because they are trying to make enough to combat scalpers.
Sega Genesis sold out in stores the first Christmas. At least where I lived
Nintendo does have reason to care. They make most of their profits on software sales. Scalping slows or even stops potential software sales.
I wonder if the switch 2 will be hacked within a year for homebrew within the first year like the switch was in 2017
I pretty much assume I won’t be able to buy one of these for the first couple of years. 😅
A wise man once said: “Me have money, you take money, me have Switch”.
Hey. I know that guy.
I didn’t have a problem getting my original switch day 1 but the ps5 took me many months to find lol
I am a little bit worried because I’m a die hard Nintendo fan while the ps5 was an easy wait.
Leaks said they were going to make 65 million I think? Maybe 650 mil? I forget which, but the number is high
One switch per owner. Would that work?
Nintendo will likely wait to the tail end of March for a reveal.
How about just not buying from scalpers it's literally that simple
Caveman transaction is crazy 😂💯
Nintendo just drop a trailer for the switch 2 on Nintendo direct live TH-cam channel.
As bad as they are, scalpers still equal sales. I have a hard time hating on them for that. I know I won't buy from a scalper, I'm not that desperate to own my next Nintendo console, and I'm willing to wait a year.
I really Hope ITS coming not to a Desaster Like the ps5 one was...
Make every pre-order in store only problem solve.
One order per adult
It’s easy to figure out the demand, just do pre orders.
Problem solved 💯
The Switch had over 10 million at launch.
March 25-28 range for more information on the successor to the Nintendo Switch.
try March 31st
didn’t Shuntaro Furukawa say that he had a plan to combat scalping
I disagree with them not caring who the systems go to after the console has been purchased. Scalpers get em = no software being purchased. Human gets em = spend money on software
Scalpers were burnt on the PS5 Pro. What makes you think Nintendo will have this problem? PS5 launched during Covid.
Believe me, this problem will affect Nintendo more than you realise..
It's a mess, good luck to everyone trying to buy one.
Whether this means online members getting first pick or flooding the shelves, as soon as pre orders drop will be there minute one with my console in the checkout, maybe even try for a backup pre order on amazon just like many successful day 1 purchasers of the PS5.
everyone be PREPARED the Scalpers are going to STRIKE Mario AND Metroid the most when it comes to next gen..
Oh you can bet that most people aren't getting one of these bad boys until a year+ after release. Scalpers ALWAYS find opportunity with nintendo products, and now that scalping has gotten even worse over the years, combined with a $300ish price point? Its gonna be biblical lol.
Don't buy from eBay where it's 600 700 800 dollars buy from the retailer or from the source
I expect large volumes from nintendo. In sweden I haven't had issues getting nintendo consoles.
Don't worry. Nintendo will overcharge the device and the more Scalpers buy their stuff, the more factory is built for Switch 2 production and stocks
I won't be getting the next Switch day one. Too many bad experiences with the Switch hardware, two Joycon drifts, and lines on the screen for my Lite 😬😬😬
If they don't show us the Switch 2 by the end of the Physical Year Nintendo better prepare for the Protesters!
*Laughs in pc* jokes aside i really hope Nintendo ups their game with the release so there isn't a shortage
Nintendo absolutely cares that real players get Switch 2s and not scalpers. They make money on games, not hardware. Scalpers don't buy games.
Games dont affect a products release
yeah its really stupid had same problem with finding a ps5 825 disc version after 3 years everything got scalped 1 year previous to the ps5 slim release went to mutliple stores just to see empty boxes this marketing tactic should be banned worldwide it only drives price up
It’s the worst.
Nintendo should let those subscribed to NSO or NSO plus expansion order one straight for their website even if it's on back order I would still pay and wait. So bots can't order it
As someone who has bottled, and knows how this actually all works..you don’t have a clue. You think you buy a piece of software and click 2 buttons and check out hundreds of of items….hahaha so not true. Most of the people that are successful doing it have put a ton of time and money and effort into learning and understanding. You, could also learn…or complain. Choice is yours
This is my concern.
Do not worry! Because Nintendo is going to take care of it, but it's not a promise, and I'm pretty sure Nintendo will find a solution for the Scalpers and Bots!
NINTENDO PLz MAKE IT INPERSON PREORDERS !! Atleast for the first month idc I want oneee
Easy, all they gotta do is make more units 😂😂
I blame the capitalist society.
No one knows if the demand is high or not, thinking it is high is very foolish.
Exactly
You don’t think there’s Hugh demand for the Switch 2?
@@Ruleof2Review we know nothing about what the next console is, so any prediction is impossible to make
if go off of sequel console, then the demand is extremely low
@@MasterStaconaIncorrect, we do know the specs with high certainty (custom Tegra on the lower-end for the current version, 12GB shared system RAM, will utilize some combination of DLSS features for upscaling, Joy-Cons will use magnetic lock system to connect instead of a rail system, and LCD screen). We don't know what it actually looks like, but we have peripheral manufacturers already taking pre-orders, so there's stuff to glean from the dimensions of cases and grips. Don't know what the storage configuration will be, backwards compatibility, and some other things.
Still an enigma, but we do know things.
@MasterStacona
Genki just leaked that its the Switch 2 that we have all seen. And no, this isnt a rumor, its in fact a leak.
like the content but ......go bills
Hey no hard feelings. Obviously I’d be ecstatic if my team won. But I know that Buffalo will win and I’m totally okay with that. We’re just thrilled that the Broncos made it! Once we lose I’ll be rooting for the Bills to win the Super Bowl. 👍
@Ruleof2Review yeah I was surprised how far the Broncos came this year actually I think they're going to be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years
Bro you talk so much for no reason
We want switch 3!
I will not buy a bundle
I don't think you have a choice when it comes to Nintendo products. I don't ever remember them selling the console on its own, then again I may be heavily wrong about this..
