Bolin is good at both written and spoken Chinese.
He can be wonderful at spoken English 99% of the time but when he messes up it is hilarious!
Renae is good at both written and spoken English.
And as seen in this video she can be wonderful at spoken Chinese, her confident accent is replete with gusto and vitality. However during the small instances when she gets the pronunciation off target it still makes people smile and lightens all our moods!
I am imagining an event where Bolin and Renae are the emcees.

Basically for all the people who don't speak Chinese,
In English we put comma (,) before someone speaks.
She said, "Nonsensical sentence."
In Chinese, we put colon (:) before someone speaks.
She said : “废话。”

this issue happens not just in singapore, even in places like china, young people are finding it hard to even write out chinese characters due to their over reliance on typing it out on their phones and computers.

Agree. It is depressing when people are not embarrassed by what they should be embarrassed about.
Embarassment may not work. Inspiration and encouragement will work better instead!
Best part? With embarrassment techniques there is a certain quota before the recipient gets fed up.
But with encouragement and inspiration techniques there is no quota. You can rest and carry on the encouragement tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that!
The best best part? Encouragement and inspiration techniques that you find are effective for others can be effective when used on yourself too.

My Chinese score isn’t the top of the line, it’s pretty so so. I got a B3 for Chinese in my O Levels. I tend to have the upper hand because I speak Chinese everyday with my parents
