Ryan Reynolds said this was one of his favorite roles, and I agree, this movie didn't get the appreciation it deserved. But that's typical for psychological horror. Rip Jerry.

I appreciate this comment section because this movie is massively underrated even when that word gets tossed around too easily. It’s so, so heartbreaking, and injected with the perfect amount of humor to keep us from complete dread, while still respecting the delicate subject matter.
I loved this movie because Ryan Reynolds does so good playing a schizophrenic. I really thought it was sad too because of his characters background :,( but on the up side i like to sing a happy song too, makes me have a good day

Interesting how his view of his dad, even in this attempt at a bright scenery, is still of a guy who grunts "creep" at him. He can never see his dad in any other way.
Absolutely. Great catch. It's subtly indicating that's the only memory he has of him. This film was incredible at showing horrible tragedies under a funny joyful depiction.
I watched this movie with my dad for the first time tge other day. The story is very impressive, I struggle to find movies like this that i enjoy. I also enjoy the characterisation of Jerey and how tragic he is.
Honestly probably the best end-credits sequence in cinema history. Artsy, classy, stunning…melancholy. This is an amazing movie. Sad-though so glowing.
I laughed and cried, while watching this movie. It was kind of heavy, at the end. I was glad that this was the way they chose to close the movie. Very Ryan Reynolds. I need to see this movie, again and again.
I think people often mistake this ending for a typical "randum xD" type of ending, when in reality its really deep and even quite depressing In his last breaths, as Jerry slowly dies, he reflects on his life, on all the things he did, but most importantly, he finally reaches a balance betwen his "good/bad side" (represented by his cat and his dog), a point in which they no longer fight and accept their fate, after he reaches said balance, Jerry meets all the people that he had met and made him feel anything like colorfull and happy people despite all the things he did to them, as well as the things they did to him, as he sings a happy song with them, but most importantly, he meets amd forgives God, after hating him for his entire life, he forgives him, and thanks him for his life, but something is still missing, despite the happy song, he is still the only one dressed in blue, representing the fact that he is still sorry, sad and depressed after everything that happened
Cat and dog leaving are Jerry dying, while his two personalities accept their fait. Finally accepting what he did, while still wishing he killed more. What a film.
Сука Блять That if actually there is a god why he allows that things to happen Its kinda a dilema jerry goe to hell beacause yeah he do terrible things but he wasnt contcous So if God is fair would it be fair, jerry goes to hell?
Cuque Stjeens Good and Evil are just concepts. You can kill someone, but doesn't mean you have to. Saying why God allow this to happen is stupid. That's like some guy having a son, and the son eventually becomes an adult and is not being responsible to his actions and does something horrible. Obviously, the father of that son is not responsible for the son's actions, but the son is responsible for the actions he committed on his own. Putting God and the Devil's into other people actions are stupid, people should be responsible for their actions not blaming it on others.
@@AVoid165 I honestly think it just means that if you're a bad person and you know it, you should "get rid of yourself." Doesn't necessarily have to mean death like it does here, but it could mean reinvent yourself, become someone new and better.
Same. The reason I get sad at this ending is partly due to the fact that, although Jerry killed many people and kidnapped his therapist, I think that by taking his meds he could of become the good, happy person he wanted to be. He was just so scared of being alone that he didn't, and so when bad things happened he only knew one way of helping those he though needed it: kill them, just like his mother asked of him. This ending is also particularly sad, not just because everything depicted here is what Jerry wanted in his life (friends, happiness, assurance from Jesus that he was a good person), but because it is highly debatable whether it is actually happening, is Jerry in heaven with the people he killed due to his mental disorders or is he just having another delusion. Hell, I don't think it's even confirmed that Jerry died in the fire: there is a possibility that the cops found him unconscious, and this is Jerry's mind thinking he died before he wakes up in a psychiatric ward. If a person is a real, and I mean _real_ dingus and “doesn’t see anything wrong” with anything they’ve done, despite having it spelled out for them, they likely aren’t going to have the epiphany moments before death.
