    Oats are actually naturally gluten free! :) It’s only an issue if your celiac as oats can cross contaminate with gluten in the processing factories xx

    • @laurenh3013
      @laurenh3013 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think also sometimes how the oats 'bind' and become sticky can mimic gluten which can cause problems too

    • @aimeecrosland3205
      @aimeecrosland3205 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sophia Jaques oats do contain a different type of gluten, so they aren’t fully gluten free. I’m gluten free but not celiac, but still react to oats and oat milk 😓

  • @HeyyyBabyyy4
    @HeyyyBabyyy4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Cartiaaa, Regular Oats don’t actuaclly contain Gluten.. However, they are processed in the same factories as rhye, wheat, etc. Therefore they can’t claim that the oats are gluten free for safety/alergy reasons..
    Thought you might want to know ;)

    It makes me kind of sad hearing you say that you don't eat bananas when you are trying to get "fit".
    Fruit is so healthy!! We are designed to eat fruit. I'm not say that you should eat 10 bananas a day, but there's no need to cut them out of your diet.
    I've had leaky gut and some of the things that have helped me were; probiotics, collagen, Vitamin B complex, vitamin D (because I was deficient), whole plant based diet focusing on LOTS of greens and healthy fats.
    And lowering stress (that's the hardest part) but CBD oil has helped me a lot!
    Hope this tips help you or anyone else reading this 💛

      I think people don't understand that fruit sugar is completely different from processed sugar. She's always had a problem with her weight since she was young she was extremely overweight as a child.

    Hi Cartia! I went through exactly the same digestive issues and it took me a while to get rid of them but I finally did and here are a few things that really helped me:
    -Drinking water with apple cider and lemon first thing in the morning
    -Digestive enzymes
    -Aloe vera ( easier when you take in capsules)
    -PROBIOTICS are definitely a must
    - Stay away from dairy
    - Lower the amount of gluten that you consume
    -Triphala pills are really helpful for balancing the digestive system
    - and most importantly less stress :)
    Hope this helps!! :)

    There isn't anything wrong with any fruits that are high in fructose when you are on a 'weight loss' program. Health aside, weight loss literally just comes down to calories/energy in vs out. But it is still definitely important to eat healthy so that we can feel and perform at our best :) Side note, if your struggling with muscle aches and pain especially from your workouts you should buy a pack of epsom magnesium salts and a bit of bicarb soda and have them in a hot bath 1-2x per week. You will feel amazing afterwards!

    Cartia thankyou so much for starting this series! I’ve had quite severe IBS for 2 1/2 years now and let me tell you anxiety is such a big cause of my problems! Obviously everybody is different but my advice would be focus on reducing the stress rather than the good issues, I do have food intolerances so definitely go that route aswell but I know for me the anxiety is the cause for like 90% of my symptoms x love from London 💕🇬🇧

  • @summersam1999
    @summersam1999 5 ปีที่แล้ว +92

    Cartia, I feel so horrible that you are suffering with all these issues !
    Please please please though, prompting naturopaths over registered doctors and dietitians is dangerous. While there are some individual bodies out there who do regulate registration of naturopaths their isn’t any legal bodies governing this , while doctors and dietitians have APHRA.
    I think it’s wise to prompt giving people more autonomy over their own health, however prompting scepticism into traditional medicine is dangerous to your viewers who may have serious life-threatening illnesses!
    As a nurse working in the public health system and studied for 3 years and had extensive placements and has to go through extensive lengths to work, please please provide your viewers with all the facts! ❤️

    • @summersam1999
      @summersam1999 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      C E Thank you heaps your comment !
      100% agree with you about highlighting various opinions
      I think it’s very valid to be scared of the doctor, however what makes me worried is just some things stated, including not believing a doctor with her blood test and not thinking the ranges are off.
      I’m worried that this will influence others to think flat out not believe any doctors and go to professional who many not even have any training or regulations
      I believe that all health professionals should be heavenly regulate and governed because it helps reduce poor practice.
      Bad practice happened everywhere but studies highlight that with regulation comes safer practice.
      Alternative health care needs to be taken seriously and shouldn’t replace treatments that have high amounts of evidence that states they are effective
      E.g. I know a wide variety of people who stop chemotherapy treatments for natural alternatives (more on the extreme side but it’s one I see commonly)
      I’m glad she gave a disclaimer at the start but I think it’s important my comment is under this video so people have more perspective!
      Thanks for your feedback 😊

      Samuel Marchant for 7 years I struggled with gut health, IBS issues, anxiety and depression. Unfortunately during that time I went to SO MANY doctors and they, for me, did nothing at all to help...I then got advised to see a holistic doctor and naturopath and have been on a year long health journey and I have never ever ever felt better in my life using natural remedies. I know maybe it’s sceptical but for people like me I couldn’t recommend natural remedies and holistic doctors more.

    • @kasia6598
      @kasia6598 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Unknown User Completely agree! I got diagnosed with gluten intolerance, ibs, celiac disease, all my blood tests kept coming out fine with doctors and they kept blaming all my symptoms on my anxiety. I knew that wasn’t it and there was something going on and turns out I had parasites that were causing my gut to go out of whack which essentially messed up the rest of my body!!! Doctors are only taught so much, textbook definitions dont cover natural medicines and what u have to remember is the medical industry profits off illness and providing people with medicine. Have u noticed how doctors never test for the cause of anything? They’ll diagnose u with cancer or diabetes or arthritis or ibs and treat the SYMPTOMS of it not the Cause. Doctors are very good for diagnosing things but at the end of the day they prescribe medicine for the symptoms of something or to reduce it/ slow it down, not to get rid of it:)

    • @maddiekendallll
      @maddiekendallll 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Uhh as a medical student I completely disagree! I am all for people going to dietitians and naturopaths to compliment western medicine, and I'm glad she's following advice from all three, if that's what she wishes.
      1. We definitely cover natural medicines - we know there's evidence for st. john's wort, echinacea etc
      2. Medical industry (in Australia) is usually heavily subsidized by the government, not industry.
      3. We learn about the cause of all the diseases, and sometimes it's impossible to treat the cause. Take cancer - The cause is genetic mutations! You obviously can't rewrite a person's genome and get rid of the mutations! So the treatment is to eradicate the cells that cause cancer. Effectively Treating the symptoms and the cause.
      For Type 2 Diabetes - the cause is usually obesity, poor diet, lack of exercise and age. The doctors first line management is lifestyle control for one month to get sugar levels in control before drugs like metformin are added on.
      Please be informed before you judge medical practitioners like this - we study hard for 5+ at uni, looking at quality evidence, before going out into the field. We prescribe to cure the disease where possible, but if that's not an option (because it isn't in some cases) we treat the symptoms so the patient lives a more comfortable life!

    • @soraysunshine
      @soraysunshine 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      kasia what are you on, saying doctors don’t test for the cause of illnesses? I.e. if someone is has some type of poisoning, they find out what they were poisoned by - therefore TO treat the symptoms the patient is suffering from from the illness. Their MAIN job is to stop your suffering from your painful symptoms, but when they first see you - do you not fill out a shit ton of questionnaires and answer lots of questions so they can find the root CAUSE? They can’t treat an illness without knowing what the cause is. Again, i.e. lung cancer - cause: tumor in lungs, treatment: remove tumor. You’re clearly not very educated on traditional medicine and speaking from your own experience, so please don’t mislead others.

    definitely send your results onto your naturopath! my gp said my results were "normal" but when my naturopath looked at them I had low b12, iron, and I was borderline insulin resistant! doctors don't mention borderline levels, but even if you're a little bit low in something it can make you feel like shit!

    I have also suffered from gut issues and anxiety, it's not easy. I tried everything to fix my issues and here are some things that helped. The low FODMAP diet, this was recommended by my naturopath and is very similar to what you're already doing but I had to cut out some things like onion and garlic, which seems weird but I swear it made all the difference. I eventually put them back in once my gut healed. I went fully vegan, sort of a personal preference but I do believe it helped. I had açai bowls almost every morning for breakfast and I swear that also helped. I got antibiotics for a parasite that my doctor wasn't sure I necessarily needed to treat but I did anyway, doesn't hurt to try. You're already doing on this but working on managing your anxiety is huge, because if you get sick you get anxious and if you get anxious you get sick and it can seem never ending. Also get lots of fresh air and go for walks without the stress of getting exercise, it's nice to just walk without a time limit or a purpose. Hope this can help anyone struggling with the same stuff.

    You can make quinoa porridge! Its so good with a little honey and berries etc. Also bananas are really good for you! Don't avoid fruit because of the fructose. I like to think of foods as a whole package, so yes bananas do have fructose but they also have fiber, energy, vitamins and minerals! So definitely good for you when looking at the bigger picture :) if bananas make you happy then eat them!

    Bone broth was my saviour when I was struggling with gut health a few years ago. It was hard to consume animal product, but I decided to put my health first. I also switched to an autoimmune diet (AIP) to help me heal. Game changer. I now intermittent fast and eat Keto and haven’t felt this healthy in years.

  • @kasia6598
    @kasia6598 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi cartia, I’m a massive advocate for healing the gut and diet etc, like u i suffered for anxiety for so long, not sure if u have a gluten intolerance but i did alongside an intolerance that kept spreading to other foods leaving me constantly tired no matter how much sleep I got alongside other issues. Its so so wonderful to finally see a youtuber delving deep down to fix the main organ for most bodily issues but I just wanted to tell u to look into parasites. As u will probably guess, gut issues dont form on their own ur doing so well with probiotics digestive enzymes keep it up!!! but many times theres an even bigger underlaying cause. Most of us have parasites without knowing about it, it sounds horrid i know but its normal, especially with the fact that u often walk on the beach barefoot. I suggest u check out natural channels on yt who talk about parasites or read on it. I promise its not as scary as it sounds n once u remove them ur anxiety will go, ull get ur clarity of mind and concentration back and itll heal ur gut completely which u can then support using supplements :)

    hi cartia! I literally don’t think I’ve ever commented on yt before but I felt really compelled because I recently dealt with really similar issues. For almost 3 months I would bloat like CRAZY and nothing helped... I was diagnosed with sibo, ibs, and a gluten intolerance. The ONE thing that actually worked for me was proper food combining. Look into Kenzie Burke on Instagram, she has an amazing reset program that is a majority plant based. Ive cut out gluten, dairy, meat, and refined sugar while doing food combining and I’ve been able to actually heal myself without gut killing antibiotics that the doctor wanted to prescribe. I also did a colonic a few months back that really helped with my bad digestion. Good luck my love!

    Get your thyroid levels checked!! they could be unbalanced but you have to get blood tests every couple of weeks as they may be find one week and not the next. I watched your latest video and I get eye strain with certain lights and the symptoms you have in this video and I was diagnosed with hashimotos disease it’s a autoimmune thyroid conditions that’s quite common in females x

    Only about half way through your vlog but there is a place called mind + gut (or another place called the gut centre). I went there about a year ago and they do hypnosis specifically for gut issues (like leaky gut, IBS etc). I went to the one in Sydney but there might be one in Brisbane too. It was sooooo helpful and it decreased the sensitivity to my gut without even having to make other lifestyle changes. I recommend checking it out if your having gut issues!

    Sometimes a normal blood test won't show low b12 even if you are deficient. Sometimes it has to do with your receptors and whether or not your body is able to absorb and use the b12 your consuming. This is also why some people overlook low b12 as the problem as b12 shots wont help if you aren't able to absorb it.

    Try out food combining and look into Kenzie Burkes 21 day reset! It's all about optimizing your digestive system and I can say for myself it has made all the difference in how I feel and look!

    You should watch Barbara O'Neill's health series on her channel "Misty Mountain Health Retreat". She's a nutritionalist and she covers everything you need to know about leaky gut, anxiety etc. Each video is an hour long, and super informative! 💜I think it's a 13 hour series in total, but well worth watching every video. :)

    Thank you so much for sharing!! I'm in the exact same situation as you, Ive recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease so I can't eat any gluten what so ever. I'm on a gut healing journey too so its nice to follow along with someone who's also healing their gut. I also have the exact same opinion on bone broth, everyone says its amazing but I am an ex vegan and even though I still don't eat meat, I find eating animals bones gross

    How do you build up your willpower to not eat the junky food in your house? I struggle with that a lot, I live with my family and they have soooo much junk haha. What is a good tip to prevent me grabbing and snacking on something like that? Xx

    Do what’s best for you ! Doctor or naturopath. I’ve had experience with a naturopath and had great experience. You have to understand doctors, naturopaths, dieticians all have a certain place for everyone. We are human and for the people in the comments who are anti naturopath need to know all these professions have their place. Leaky gut It a real thing. Gut health is soooo important

    The first thing you need to do is detox all the toxic stuff in your body and you will start feeling better then take probiotics and prebiotic.

    Btw I know what you mean about cravings when other people you live with have junk food out it can be frustrating. I’m not perfect but I looked up that you can find substitutes for cravings like stevia for sugar or coconut sugar or cacao nibs for chocolate. Wishing you all the best💞ily

    Girl I love you a lot and I truly look up to you as a role model. But I’m currently studying pharmacy & it’s amazing the medications we have and the intense training people who to go through to prescribe them (aka doctors). As a viewer looking up to you it kinda hurts when you say you don’t ‘trust’ my profession.

    Collagen Peptide is really great for hair, skin, nails and joints. Apple Cider Vinegar, lemon juice and water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning will would really help you out. Have you heard of Organifi or the Green Detox. I do this everyday it has has help me and my kids so much. Great video
