the only reason herbivores are this strong is to give a reason for people to play them
@@r.k845 Our modern ecosystems are somewhat different and shouldn't be too strongly used as a comparison to past ecosystems. Many had Apex predators that specifically evolved to hunt megafauna. Animals like Simbakubwa, Andrewsarchus, and Barinasuchus for instance. Those all being from the Cenozoic, represent niches that are sadly unfilled in our modern ecosystems.
I would also point out that many modern predators tend to be highly size-efficient when it comes to their prey size envelope. Grey wolves hunting Bison for instance. If they were both extinct, and you dug up their fossils in the future, I suppose you wouldn't be the person to speculate that the 75kg one eats the 1000kg one.

Honestly this game is COOKED when it comes to balancing because the players themselves will just pick whatever is strong enough to be oppressive to others.

but you just need a full group. You have to be really unlucky to be hit by a maja. They are also very easy to hit because they have large sides for pounce and turn slowly
I dont rlly mind strong herbivores cuz most of the time ppl play carnivores (im guilty of that too) but what I dont like is when only a few species of herbivores are played and then no one plays the other ones. Like what's the point of playing a hypsi or a dryo or even a galli when you can be a fucking tank of a stego or diablo. Also I want them to make the weaker herbivores more fun to play cuz I all i rlly see is ceratos and stegos and dilos.
@@flappy4792 I have no issue playing smaller herbivores is they are actually fun, because I'm guilty of playing carnivore 90 percent of the time as well. Unfortunately herbi gameplay is pretty bland without nesting atm
I'm an avid small herbi/carni player and the main issue is socialization. They are already fun but it's difficult to group and server limits force people to not waste time on a "dead dino". If groups could be more easily formed and tracked and server sizes increased (the map doesn't have to be 90% dead) you'd naturally see an increase of small and mid tier dinos
I think upon release. Allo should be a 3 ton beast. But as the game matures further and bigger carnos are added Allo shoild drop down to what the dev indent with 2.5 or max 2.7. This would keep balance untill more option are available
if allo gets added ill come back to the game if bray gets added it would be fire

2.8 ton Allo would probably be enough to send a Maia running tbh, since Maia rn is like the least agile land animal in the game and it doesn't do well against bleed.
I'd imagine Allo would probably do more damage compared to Maia aswell but we wont find out until it's out.
My beipi got murdered by a dibble for 0 reason I hopped up on a log tp eat a fish and heard him start running i jumped in the water started swimming and was impaled before i could go a second
My opinion is that the strength of herbivores is realistic. HOWEVER. Hunger is extremely messed up. Take wolves for example, elk hunting is dangerous for them and hunts aren’t always successful, but they can survive for a very long time without food, surviving long enough to keep trying and trying until they hunt something. I think there should also be a server on the isle where you can revive your dinos instead of a sandbox mode.
I've always hated this in survival games. I mean yeah, having slow hunger drain means it's easier to survive but I've always dreamt of something had a huge meal and didn't need to eat for ages. Last time I played the utah/omi I was walking through the forest, and I swear I got hungry so quickly.
With the idea of reviving dinosaurs I'd honestly prefer if you die you lose a certain percentage of growth, I'd like that as much as sandbox servers

Feel like we're playing different games.
90% of all servers is Ceratos (which will just be Allo when it releases instead because of it's oppressive bleed) and there's barely any herbivore players, those that are in solo or 2-man groups.
Release Allo and then just switch all the ceratos for allos and nothing changes (except maybe even fewer herbi players or just Stegos)
I just mean that the herbivores that are in the game are averaging over 3 tons and any time you encounter one, it's in a group of a dozen other mixherding herbivores. Even if the majority of the server is carnivores, (which I already know) I'm just elaborating on the fact that no amount of carnivores can take on these massive groups. (Except for cerato because its vomit mechanic is busted... And it's the best hunter in the game rn even though it's intended to be a scavenger)
yea maia is pretty op i do remmeber a run i had a few days ago i got nested and was always in a group of 6 or more my entire life and then i nested some people and it got to like the 4th generation but people kept logging then i crashed and came back dead

I know it sounds weird but i honeslty dont think it makes sense to judge the game based on the official servers. Its just a fuck fest and i think that if anyone is taking this game seriously, they play on islander/petite type server. In my opinion the isle is the type of game that needs some rules to actually function properly.

The Isle community is unbelievably cringe. I don't care how much anyone cries about how strong x y z herbivore is, carnivores still outnumber herbivores on literally every server all the time. If you look at the species graphs on Petits Pieds, there's always like 3x more carnivores than herbivores and that server has species limitations, so you know it's even worse on officials where everyone can pick whatever tf they want.
It will get like 50 million times worse once Rex and Allo get added so no, I am not looking forward to it. For all I care they can take their sweet ass time adding those abominations, because once they're in the game, seeing anyone play a herbivore that isn't Stego or Trike is gonna be like seeing a unicorn.
That's the only thing I can't stand, is that so many people just choose to play the biggest and strongest carnivore in the game so they can kill everything. Legacy consisted of 99 percent rexes
you're acting like MEGAPACKS of maias doesn't exist.
you're acting like, despite being outnumbered, herbivores, such as stego, diablo, and maia, will and always did DESTROY decently large groups of carnivores.
you're acting like a herbivore being so powerful to the point where the only thing that can kill them is a group of carnivores is a good way to balance the game to begin with.
"hey guys, let's force every single carnivore into grouping up to kill 1 playable. despite the fact that herbivores are MUCH and i mean MUCH easier to grow because they lack the ability to constantly risk their lives to kill and eat something unlike the carnivores."
and btw, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, the fact that people play carnivores more than herbivores is because:
A. they are actually able to start fights unlike the herbivores
B. the herbivores are so overtuned to the point where they find themselves scaring off every carnivore in the vicinity or get fucked by a megapack with no counterplay.
MAYBE if the game had something else to do other than fighting, the herbivores wouldn't be so fucking boring.

Do you know if we will have the allo soon? because the developers of the isle usually add things for Christmas but this time there was nothing and I thought we would have the allo for Christmas.

They nerfed him right after I recorded this. Even including his nerf, Maia can still very well knock over predators and run away with ease. We need some mid tier carnis to fill this massive gap
I'm still playing carno on the hordetest, but my current strategy is run away and look for juvies. Since I haven't even found any juvies that weren't surrounded by aggressive adults yet, my strategy is...run away. Sad.

old 1,800 kg carno with 200 bite force would have faired well against maia, being faster and more agile. Charge would be useless but it'd be a interesting fight.
Carno never had 200 bite force I don’t think but could be wrong. Honestly all carno needs now is its 1.8 tons weight and size, and its charge hitbox fixed (if its even too big which imo its not really) and maybeee a 5% stam cost on charge activation to keep people from spamming it because you’re only hurting yourself if you do that charge does only 100 damage max anyways right now
@dtbrex08 it did I have an old video of me running carno with my friends. Me personally I'd keep charge in a bad spot just to reliantly knock down smaller things like omni, but bring back the old 200 dmg bite force and weight. make it more skilled with landing bites than free dmg through charge.
@ I agree, which is why I think charge should cost about 5 stam on activation. Right now charge does less damage than a bite anyways but has a big hitbox so people overrely on it. I think it should be used more to either gain speed to finish things off or to ambush things from a distance for a quicker kill
@dtbrex08 chances of you landing a successful charge from a distance is unlikely, but yeah charge is a very safe option, I like how it works now as an option for smaller prey but I feel the bite needs more to contend with teno and maia. I really hope you don't follow the small game hunter niche everyone is saying.

why cant they just fill out the roster and make the animals their actual estimated weight. Diablos were no where near 3 tons in real life. our best estimates puts them at 1.3 metric tons or 1.433 US tons. 3 tons is more than double their real life weight.

Personally, I don’t think allo will “save” the isle, mainly because it’s not like the isle is falling apart and unplayable now. I honestly think it’s a pretty good spot from where it was, and I still find the game a ton of fun. the problems that it does have aren’t gonna be solved by having a slightly larger lizard.
The main problem with the game right now is content. A lack of meaningful mechanics to keep a consistent game loop. Hopefully the elder mechanics that are planned will encourage more nesting and make the game more interesting
