      Some do, some don't, some will and some won't. Let others do what they will and do not judge them for it. God is the judge. Personally I don't celebrate any man made festivals and feast days. If you do your research and find their origins then it's up to the individual whether they want to celebrate these things or not. We only have one to answer to and that is our heavenly father.

    And Jeremiah warned against the cutting and decorating of trees- so it is more than a heart issue. I just want to love Yah the way he desires me to love him…otherwise who am I loving more?

      Christ Mass is what we know as Christmas. It’s a celebration of the Eucharist. Celebrating the birth, life and the sacrifice of Christ. The Eucharist begins with the preparation of the gifts and the altar. As the ministers prepare the altar, representatives of the people bring forward the bread and wine that will become the Body and Blood of Christ. The celebrant blesses and praises God for these gifts and places them on the altar, the place of the Eucharistic sacrifice. In addition to the bread and wine, monetary gifts for the support of the Church and the care of the poor may be brought forward. The Prayer over the Offerings concludes this preparation and disposes all for the Eucharistic Prayer.

    The earliest Christians remembered the place of Christ's birth, crucifixion, and resurrection. They passed down these memories so that when Helena (Constantine's mother) came to the holy land in the early 300s, the people showed her where various events of Jesus' life occurred. We commorate His birth regardless of whether other ancient cultures had similar winter festivals. If the ancient believers venerated the place of his birth and honored the event, that's good enough for me.

    Jeremiah 10 was what convicted and convinced me to not bring a tree in to my home and decorate it anymore. As fun as it is God hates it. He tells us plainly in His word to not worship Him the same way the pagans worshipped their gods. And decorating trees in their homes is how they worshipped their gods. I'm not saying a christmas tree is used as a form of worship to the true God ( which God would definitely hate as His word says) but I am saying a christmas tree is very similar to the trees pagans used in their worship which God hated.

    • @Wraiths_and_Wreckage
      @Wraiths_and_Wreckage 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Never have i considered a christmas tree a form of worship. Who does? Im thinking of expanding the concept to an autumn tree, etc... it's a pretty decoration that makes things cozy, nothing more. Pagans bowed to their gods, so dont bow to God.

      @@Wraiths_and_WreckageI don't think people are purposely using a Christmas tree for worship and I said so in my OP. Even though there technically is actual bowing or sitting before the Christmas tree in every home on the 25th in collective celebration as you gather and open gifts, I honestly don't think people have it in mind to worship the tree on purpose.

    • @valeriehinkle8995
      @valeriehinkle8995 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Wraiths_and_Wreckageright ..out of a tree ..that they get from the woods....and decorate. It's a form of worship that God hates. Deuteronomy 12. :4 "you shall not worship the LORD your God in that way". God is letting us know He doesn't want us doing the same things in worship to Him that the idolators did in worship to their gods. If you don't feel conviction for it after seeking and praying then okay. But God's word is clear.

      I hope you don't drive an Audi, Mazda, Mercedes, Ram, Toyota, Alpha Romero... Because if you do you're obviously worshipping the god of the symbology behind the brand. Also better not have a wreath on your front door. Or make bouquets of flowers to decorate your home. All these things have pagan roots. If we need to live our lives dodging anything that some pagan group at some point in history did we would be constantly walking on egg shells. For what? To prove that we know the history of all these types of things? Knowing the origin of hanging wreaths won't save someone's soul.

    Thank you for this. Ive run into this so many times. Christians who condemn other Christians for putting up a tree or giving gifts. Pretty sure we are to be loving and I think there’s something in the Bible about correcting with love and patience. The importance of fellowship and not causing problems unnecessarily amongst each other. I must be wrong on it because they assure me i am wrong and their mistreatment and disgust towards others putting up a tree is not only justified, it’s their calling. I guess Christian’s who celebrate Christmas are like the pagans and are going to hell. If you disagree, I guess you will be damned. At least, they assure me of this.

      We focus on Jesus and celebrate Him. His birth is pretty significant and that tree reminds us of the tree He hung on for you and me- that He was born to accomplish- and He is the light of the world! The “wise men brought gifts” which are significant of His divinity and fragrant sacrifice and that He took our pain without any painkillers. There is so much to all of it old and New Testament. Those grumpy people want to pick a fight - they can write to Santa Claus.

    And I agree. I certainly don't worship a tree but sometimes we are unhappy, especially us women, if we don't have just the right tree after goung through the whole tree farm. Is that a form of idolatry? My boys are adult fathers now. I think we struck a good balance with gift giving. We aren't wealthy and don't believe expensive gifts are the thing for Christmas. They had small gifts around the tree and the best gift ( their #1 pick) came from us not from Santa. I've noticed they practice that.

    I always thought that the date's proximity to the Winter Solstice which celebrates the birth of the sun. Our Creator created the sun, moon, and stars for times and seasons. Just because pagans worship the sun doesn't mean a Christian can worship the Creator who gives meaning to the universe.

      @charlesprimbs5270 right but I'm saying that it's in the interpretation and action. There is natural evidence that the days get longer after the darkest day of the year. GOD made it that way, and He already knew that Christmas would be celebrated around this time of year. The pagans don't know GOD,so they worship the creatures rather than the Creator.

We don't participate because it's a corrupt "hold-day". It's not about Christ no m atter how you paint it. I guarantee none of those traditions are celebrated in the Kingdom. How can you preach against it all year long, then comprise on this unholy tradition of men? It's not a salvation issue but it teaches ungodly traditions.

      I hear about this idea in Christianity a lot.
      Not to put words in your mouth, but I can't help but draw connections to similar ideas like the phrase "Do as thou wilt" and "Know thyself". I could go into it, but I feel that is sufficient.
      In any case, we are not told to determine what is right for ourselves, but to obey.
      This is a slippery slope, although the loss of ones culture seems even more daunting.

    The one thing about Christmas that I believe should be considered by all Christians is children..
    Think about how you felt about thought about Christmas when you were a child..
    If you were like me, you were filled with wonder and excitement. You could barely stand counting down the days.. not for christ nor a celebration of his birthday, but for gifts and food and family..
    Sitting and staring at the tree filled with lights and ornaments..
    Kneeling in front of it daily... laying under it staring up it's skirt at all the beautiful colors and flashing lights..
    Almost worshipping it, huh?
    Thar right there is the worry.. was there any pagan in your thoughts? No.. but for most, Jesus wasn't front and center either, if you thought much about him at all...
    That's how it was for me. My parents weren't religious. They believed in God, and they told us what the holiday was about, but there wasn't much stress on importance.. and I'm not sure they knew any better.
    Christmas also spoils children and often the holiday is filled with attitude from tired kids being drug to and fro in the maylay of shopping and appointments.
    We should all stand against the commercialization of the holiday and fight to take it down 50 notches and back to one special gift for each person in your family, including special close friends, with emphasis on giving gifts to those less fortunate who are in need, as Yeshua gave to those in need, bringing him back front and center... and throw out Santa for the real Saint Nicholas who gave gifts to those less fortunate, teaching that the caring for of those less fortunate and showing Yeshua's love for and upon them in remembrance of him is what the holiday should truly be about.
