Just rolled out of bed and accidentally had the tv on our Local Alabama news or something Manson was in the middle of his song and I was standing literally 2 feet in front of the tv waiting, waiting, hoping they'd put his name up before commercial They did! And here I am minutes later! Time to practice! I'll be playing his songs in fifty years or so Awesome amazing, beautiful playing.
Two Great bass players playing two great basses. I am sold on this one. I love how each member of the band is loaded with so much potential energy yet no one tries to outplay the other. Just awesome !!!!!!!
Congratulations, Michael! Sound super good, man! Been outta loop lately but super happy for you, Cuz! Looking forward to seeing you and the family soon. Cuz, Bernard (D.C.)
My phone was on autoplay while I was doing a music history report and once the bass started rolling I HAD to see the musician behind the magic!! The phrasing and tone, it's what I've always imagined!! Definitely gonna look through your other stuff. I listen to so many awesome bass players, but this one gave me CHILLS, it really spoke to me.
Use to see Michael in high school. But never official knew him. Glad to see and hear his success! I love smooth jazz and Michael will surely be among the greats!
Big-Mike!!! Superlative!!! I 1st saw you in South Africa in 2002. You were performing in Johannesburg with Kirk Whalum. I was there with my uncle and cousins, I was a young 18yr old Medical student, going through a hard time, you played that special piece dedicated to your son and since then I've been a fan. You music heals people, it gave me a fresh perspective of things. Hope to see you play again. Please come back for another show.... Much love from the MotherLand Bongani
The bass player behind Michael, is seriously off the chain!!! Who is it? He is probably my favorite new bassist... LOL seriously I love his style and feel!!!
Keep it up Mike, I first heard you on "the Gospel According to Jazz (1st one) w/ Whalum.. Like 20 yrs ago. You have my attention! I'm really blessed to hear you play,, recently saw Jaco's kid Felix when he was playin w the Yellowjackets.. Seen some of histories finest like late Ray Brown, Brian Bromberg.. For years Abe Laboriel was a fav.. I was really into Scofields late 90's band w/ Gary Grainger & Chambers in the pocket, super tight. HOWEver,. Keep thumping Mike! The music you played w late G. Duke was OFF the Hook!! Java jazz stuff.! You have become an extremely inspiring sound, and I think, with the trajectory you've got goin' .. Many may perhaps see you, As I do, as one of music history's greatest bassist!!
Man can this guy play! Fell in love with your style from the Casino Lights '99 DVD especially your crazy movements in and out of the groove on "Always There". You inspire me to keep practicing because I OBVIOUSLY have a long way to go. Way to throw down my man!
+Old Jazzy People want to inject race into everything these days. No doubt race plays a prominent role in our society, and there are many social issues involving race. But everything should not be so readily conflated with race.
+Harry D. With due respect, I think freddie jacks was referring to the comments that were made, starting a year ago. He should have shown it as a reply to the above comments - since he didn't do that, it sounded like he just brought it up. I still believe that music is music - it's something that's put out for us to enjoy. This recording by Michael Manson is great and I personally like the latin inflection in it. Thanks for this great music!

Older South Africans had an incredible taste in music, especially Jazz. That generation is dying at a rapid rate the last 10 years or so.

I don't hear color in music, I just hear soul.
+freddie jacks Ditto - music is not color.
+Old Jazzy People want to inject race into everything these days. No doubt race plays a prominent role in our society, and there are many social issues involving race. But everything should not be so readily conflated with race.
+freddie jacks well you thought of color, or esle you wouln't have brought it up...

This is really good
Great keyboard player.
Maurice Fitzgerald!!!!!
I love his bass!!!!
wow love music ♡♡
Sounds tight .
sensacional!!!
