The carrier accepts a signature for a regular certified from any person answering the door because they are in the house. IF carrier accepts a piece of paper (the 3849) that was left in a mailbox, they do not know who signed it....could have been someone else; neighbor, ex spouse, a minor... Many certified letters are used for legal purposes so the carrier must do their part to make sure it was some from someone at the residence. Carriers are actually trained on this procedure. If you know of carriers that accept a pre-signed slip for signature required items, they either don't care, weren't properly trained or are simply breaking a rule because their management doesn't want them to take the time to do their job correctly. As far as the frying pan?...can't help ya with that, just know you're wrong about a signature on a 3849 when it's left for a signature required item...The source, I'm, a 35 year carrier and OJI for 30+ of those.

I don't knock on a door if there is no screen to protect me from dogs, and I write that reason on the item and on the left notice slip. I've had enough dog bites already. Most apartment doors do not have a screen door on the outside, but most houses do. I can't help that.
We can only spend few seconds to each boxes or houses… waiting for resident to put on clothes, or get their pets in a safe distance takes times we understand that, but imagining we have 20-50 certify mail and we have thousand of letters, not counting parcel, magazine to deliver in a crunch time…

Literally just put your signature on the slip they left and they will leave it the next day. You're house isn't the only house that carrier has to go to. Literally like 700 or more depending on the route and they get hammered for being late especially if it's someone that doesn't know the route. People that post crap like this are annoying.

There is no rest of the story. My animals have never attacked a carrier, and are in the house 99% of the time. When they are outside, I keep a watch just in case USPS or UPS come.

"Lazy Lazy Lazy" LMAO me and about thousand other carriers do 10 hours a day 7 days a week walking in 90-110 degree weather delivering not only letters but heavy ass packages the entire time, I got a time quota I gotta meet, I sometimes don't have the time to wait the possibly 3~ minutes it takes you to get to ur door and the time it takes u to figure out how to use the scanner to sign, lazy psht gtfoo

You are a liar. They hold it for 15 days and return to sender but not before writing 3 more notices. And not the carrier. The letter is taken back to a clerk who logs it and writes the next 3 notices.
@@david_kg Have you ever worked in an office that was short staffed? The clerks get behind in 2nd notices all the time...sometimes they are 3 months behind, so it's definitely possible. Carrier leaves 1st notice, then clerks only send out two more...a 2nd notice, then a final notice. There is NOT a 3rd notice from a clerk.

Half the time, these complaints aren't valid, as they received a 2nd notice, which the carrier doesn't even have the item to be signed for that day
We only have the item on us one time unless it is a redelivery. We have far too many packages now to be lugging things back and forth.
The scanner tracks you all day if you take too long to come out he hears it from the supervisor if his time isn’t right at the end of the day
