    Thanks for the video!! Last year I planted 2 butterfly weeds but didn't realize they were host plants foronarchs til I went out one day and they were covered w those gorgeous white, yellow and black cats lol. I was hooked from then on out I think I ended up having to give buy over 30 milkweed plants to feed all the caterpillars I was finding lol this fall I invested heavily into host plant seeds specifically varieties of milkweed so far I have well over 200 started and I'm so excited but also slightly second guessing that they still might not be enough lol its amazing how much those critters can eat. Bless yall!

      What a wonderful realization! Aren't they the coolest little creatures?! I had them a few years back, but they haven't found them again - I'm crossing my fingers for this year!!! I have a few more varieties this year too, so hopefully I have enough to catch their eye! It is so fun watching the whole life cycle happen in your own backyard - and know that you're helping them along the way! Good for you for focusing on growing so many more for these beautiful creatures! They will thank you for it by visiting more and more often! Good luck with your milkweed grove this year!! I hope you get tons of visitors!!! 💚🐛🐛🐛🦋🦋🦋💚

    Beginner here (year 3). We have a good start. Ready to add new plantings. Learning about biodiversity but unsure about our shopping list. Your video is just what we need, thank you! ❤

      @@TheSuburbanGardenista Zone 7a, Tx Panhandle. We’re very fortunate to have an excellent local nursery with xeriscape and native plants for pollinators. But I welcome your suggestions!

      @@jumprope04so glad you have a nearby source for native plants! I wouldn't want to incorrectly suggest anything for such a different climate to mine (I'm up in Ontario, Canada). I'm sure I could learn from you! With the climate changing, we'll be looking for more and more plants that can handle the heat that I'm sure you're quite accustomed to! Thank you for watching my little video and for commenting 💚

    What beautiful images you've shared - all from your yard! Very inspirational. Also, that last bit about obedient plant got me excited. I got a few seeds and hope something germinates.

      It really is amazing what you can fit in a small space - and the difference it can make for the pollinators!
      I hope your obedient plant grows well for you - I've heard that it can flower in the first year when grown from seed, which is nice for a native perennial! Good luck and happy gardening 💚

    Amazing video! Are all those plants in the video from your garden? I planted more native flowers last fall, but I am hoping to keep adding more, like you mentioned in the video.

      Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it! Yep, all of those plants and critters were from my gardens! I really don't have a huge yard - it's amazing how much you can grow in a small space! That's great that you've started your collection! Fair warning - it can become quite the obsession!!! 🤓

    Perennial sunflowers, goldenrods and asters support the most species of native bees, but plant milkweeds and early spring ephemerals are so important to bumblebees,

      @TheSuburbanGardenista  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! There must be some kind of technical issue - most folks don't have any issues, but a few comment that the sound is a problem. I'm so sorry that you experienced that - especially because I worked so hard on this video. It's such a bummer. Thank you for the kind words - I will definitely try to fix this issue in the future!

    I sowed a bunch of 2 buck chuck wildflower boxes/packets before I knew that they were full of European flowers 😭. Thankfully over a couple years the true wildflowers have taken over but buyer beware.

      Live and learn! I have done the exact same thing only to find out every flower that popped up wasn't native! Such a disappointment when you're trying! Glad we both figured it out! And took the time to identify them all!
