This and unity are probably the only game where you can use isu as weapons and there not useless the are truly as powerful in game like sowrd of Aden and the apple are truly powerful artifacts when you use them the game it really gives you the since of power

There may have been some good food in the fridge there but now it's just mush. It's the same with Odyssey. Some interesting ideas albeit ripped off from superior games but placed in the wrong franchise. I just finished Odyssey and I'm still waiting for the assassin parts...

Bro you're honestly one of the most entertaining youtubers i've watched. You never fail to make me chuckle and your content is actually worth watching with genuine thoughts and opinions. Keep up the good work man.
The problem with these fantasy elements is how lazily they're almost "tacked on". The world doesn't give a shit, the main character doesn't give a shit. There's no narrative to it. I think I would've been fine with Odyssey's teleport stealth kills if there'd been a full on side quest where people were talking about a mercenary who could teleport and such. The questline would have cultists worshipping you, bounty hunters and a poet following you, writing songs of your magical powers.
I like Oddysey and Valhalla a lot. What drags them is them being too long. 40 hours of their concentrated content and detail instead of being stretched and they would be much better looked at.
Me: This game was decent but it not a part of assassins creed. Well it shouldn't be at least. Ubisoft: Yeaahhh...about that,we kinda got out of control.
I get how it's not really an Assassin's creed game but the game itself is like really really good like I'd play it over origins any day because the world and gameplay is really beautiful , I feel like Assassin's creed should be more like the original games that were first released, when they released origins everyone knew its gone downhill
I gotta agree with you on this one. Odyssey is the worst in terms of “Assassin’s Creed-ness” but it is still a good game that I enjoy playing. I used to be on the hate train and hated on Odyssey just because everyone else was. Then I gave it a chance one day and found myself having a good time, surprisingly. The story is pretty good and the open world is really well done. It’s such a shame that Ubisoft decided to slap the AC title on this game because it could’ve just been a standalone spartan game. I don’t think so many people would hate on this game if it was just a spartan game. That said, I have switched over from hating Odyssey to loving it now. But this is just my opinion. If anyone disagrees or hates me for it, that’s fine.
I've had a theory that Odyssey was never meant to be an AC game, but at the last minute Ubisoft changed the title to boost sales, And as time goes on I think that's actually true because the only AC thing about this game is the title.
It makes no sense, they already made game about cavemen and called it a Far Cry. And just like Primal, Odyssey is mostly a copy paste of its predecessor, there is no way they ever considered not naming it Assassin's Creed
Actually it was supposed to be called : odyssey: an assassin’s creed story or something and was basically a spin-off but they made it a mainline game to boost sales
If you think of it it kinda makes sense that in the games just as in the real world, the tales from far far gone times are not very realistic. Myths, folklore and stuff are fantasy retellings of some things that actually happend in a less dramatic way. And the less those tails are in the past the more realistic they get. So just like historians the people in the animus get a gameworld that fills the gaps of the unknown with fantastical stories.
Bruh! I literally came here to say the exact same thing. This is allegedlly the beginning of the timeline so our understanding of the events are going to have way more gaps than more recent events. Add to that if there is any historical record at all a master assassin would be PERCEIVED as God or at the very least a Demi-God because their skill set was so rare back than. Just like you said.
AC Odyssey is one of the best games Ive played in my whole life. The main game is amazing, and the DLC was original and perfect. Put in about 170 hours in that game, loved to just explore the islands and immerse myself and get lost in the story of Cassandra.
It's not for AC purists. If you take it as a mythological rpg story about a Greek character. It's amazing. You're an actual demi-god and you get to feel that.
I am a fan of the series since ac1, but honestly, I like the game odyssey. I just keep telling myself "Lets play spartan warrior odyssey- this not an ac! No not an ac..."
Imagine if Ubisoft just sort of did it like “Odyssey an Assassins creed story” type of games same with Valhalla : an assassins creed story separating them from the mainline titles while working to improve the old formula I think that would’ve made me enjoy odyssey and Valhalla more but knowing they changed assassins creed permanently I couldn’t bring myself to liking the new system at all
I've played all AC games and odyssey is my favorite. You may say it's unrealistic but don't forget it's a simulation played with the genetic memories of Layla Hassan. If you jump from a cliff and don't die, it's not that it didn't happen but in the simulation which Layla was playing, the avatar she was controlling didn't die. The same logic applies to kassandra's outfits, phobos skins and the powers of the characters. What really matters in the simulation is to find those pieces of Eden, everything else is just part of the simulation.
@@ilymmiaxi3504 its a different series with the same name, glad you like it but its completely different. look up AC 1, 2 or even Unity and compare to the new games. i wish ubi just made a new series instead but the name makes money.
I respect both opinions and I like how you don't hate on the fans of Odyssey. Personally I hated Odyssey for the longest time, but after playing more of it I grew to love it in its own, goofy way. It's not at all a good Assassin's Creed game. But it is a good game on its own. Mostly. And the world is beautiful.
I find Asgard to be less fantasy compared to the stuff of Odyssey since it's more of like Eviors interpretation of the Isu civilization cause when you see what actually happened when they did the reincarnation thing it's way more in line with the Sci-Fi element of the older games. Still see where you're coming from and understand why people dislike that whole plotline in the game.
Yeah, the story of an incredibly advanced civilization who created human kind and created this high tech devices called the pieces of eden that can manipulate our bodies and brains was pretty much realistic since the beginning ♥️
Assassin's Creed was a game franchise that came out in the era of the realistic game trend with pale colors. You can see this realistic design choice in some of other 2007-2008 titles too. For example GTA 4 was the most realistic game we ever seen and still the most realistic one in the series. At 2007 games with cartoonish and over-saturated colors were not popular in AAA industry except cell shaded cartoon or anime games. People had a different view of the game at that time. If we compare Far Cry 2 which released in 2008 and Far Cry 6, which released in 2021, we can again understand how much the colors, physics, movements and art styles have changed through the years.
I agree with the point that odyssey shouldn't had assassin's creed in its title as the game's story is set before origins and hidden ones were the first assassins from origins, it should be named relevant to before assassins, demigod & isu , overall odyssey has great combat & weapon, gear system and i still love to play it. And people saying combat is clunky are dumb to understand how to use engravings and right weapon
There was a unicorn in Brotherhood, and this game was originally titled “Odyssey: An Assassin’s Creed Story”. Doesn’t make the game any more historically accurate or the Helix Store any less blatantly money-hungry though. ;)
Been watching your vids and Im playing odyssey now. Gotta say you make a lot of good points, mostly spot on even. For me to make this into assassin creed game, I did not use all those magic like skills like the teleport thing, invisibility and corpse insta remove. Ramp up my assassination damage with my pirate gear and 2nd set for hunter damage makes for fun and tactical fort and camp clearing. Still having a blast though. Great channel. Subscribed
First of all odyssey is an assassin's creed game, second of all just play it as an greek demigod assassin like that's essentially what you are but before the assassin's brotherhood existed as like the cult of cosmos basically the early early templars. See its that simple on how odyssey is an assassin's creed game not 'well it is a good game but a bad ac game' and sadly blind delusional fanboys just don't see it that way and continue to hate it for the sake of it. Plus ac odyssey was a goty contender and there are people who hated odyssey only to look back on it and love it.
I'm also a long time assassin's creed fan not a newcomer just because I like odyssey and I guess origins even though so many people don't realise the issues with the story with origins but origins is still very good.
Odyssey was my second ac game, and i liked it. After playing almost every other game in the series, i think that Odyssey is a genuinely fun game, but it is not assassin's creed in (almost) any way.
Well odyssey is an assassin creed game and I'm a long time fan of assassin's creed not one of the blind ones but since you're in early with assassin's creed, odyssey is an assassin creed game. It's not subjective at all.
@@JoeDirtisawsome you totally understand & wholeheartedly know of what's the 'most elements' i'd love to ask you to elaborate but there's really no need unless you want me to ask you to elaborate.
Throw in a new ingredient and slap a shiny label on it, then kick it out the door. I like Mt Dew as much as the next guy. But you can understand dissent when the same applies to top-shelf game development. I like Odyssey. It’s different and well executed. I like how it’s very nature positions the series against shallow reiteration of other annual titles.
I played nearly all ac games and actually I think the problems of ac odyssey are just that unrealistic health bar and too much superpowers. There are superpowers and super-weapons in all ac games, but ac odyssey just includes a lot of superpowers... The unreal places are all possible with isu technology(two aco) or dreams(acv). I guess the story of Kassandra is not over yet... She should be linked with the assassins in the games so that she may be considered as an assassin... Overall, it is still a good assassin creed game to start another big-crisis(Loki and Aletheia) story line... the isu story, assassin-templar like world settings... still an assassin game
Outside of the occasional isu artifact and eagle vision, the other games did not have super weapons or super powers. We saw the end of Kassandra/Alexios's story at the end of odyssey and they spoke against the assassin's and templars. Why would we consider someone who spoke ill of the assassin's an assassin?
Yep I love odyssey but still love ur jokes they r amazing 👏 🤣 I'm always finding ur ac odyssey joke vids especially that one was pretty great Altair vs ezio the odysseyjoke in it 🤣🤣🤣
I just had the conversation with Vidick in the first game and he and Desmond literally have this debate. Vidick states the Animus shows us the unvarnished truth. Desmond doubts and proceeds to say "nothing is true everything is permitted". Vidick I believe chuckles and says Desmond us right. Therfore nothing is out of the realm of possibility in this series as stated in this conversation and by the line "nothing is true everything is permitted."
I mean the only reason alexios took so long to kill a ramdom enemy is beacause of gameplay purposes, as you can see in cutscenes he's one tapping everybody
I think there are very clear indicators for what is real and what is not in Odyssey. Some people generally speaking don't know about the lore. Others mock Odyssey knowing the lore even though it has always been inconsistent at times. Odyssey is a game that I do love. You can hate or love it, but most people seem to completely misrepresent the game, its lore, and what is real or not in it. There are many things in Assassin's Creed that are not realistic. At the end of the day, enjoy the games you love, as do I. Odyssey basically takes Ezio with the Apple of Eden or Altair and does it the entire game with Alexios/Kassandra with the Spear of Leonidas. It may be more extreme with the Isu lore, but it still got Assassin's Creed lore. It's sad that many would love the game simply if it had the title, Odyssey: An Assassin's Creed Story.
People who say stuff like: iT wAs nEvEr ReaLiStIc AnyWaY really get on my nerves. They don't get the difference between realism and authenticity at all. Green aliens and dragons are both UNREALISTIC but can you imagine a flying saucer landing on Smaug's mountain in Hobbit? NO! Because it would be fkin INAUTHENTIC and INCONSISTENT with the world of Hobbit! Assassin's Creed is a science-fiction series at its core. It's about a modern conflict between Assassins and Templars and about modern people exploring the mysteries hidden in the memories of their ancestors via the Animus. It was never fantasy. Everything had a clear TECHNOLOGICAL explanation. Pieces of Eden weren't magic. They were advanced devices used by precursors and each device had a particular role. Apples were used to control people and create illusions. The sword was a weapon. The shroud could heal etc. But then fking Odyssey enters the chat and suddenly Pieces of Eden turn people into literal beasts from the Greek mythology and allow for BS magic abilities. The spear of Leonidas doesn't even make fkin sense! Why on Earth would a spear have so many different and unrelated properties??? You want to tell me that this single device allows people to go invisible, teleport, gain superhuman strength, shoot explosive arrows, cause massive area attacks and also kick very hard? Come on... Even magic in Harry Potter has more consistency that this nonsense. I liked Origins because it stayed true to the core ideas of AC. Sure, it took some liberties and had a few mythological elements but they were always properly explained. Bayek never literally fought a giant snake or a 50 meter tall crocodile god. Origins did a pretty good job at combining preexisting AC lore and technological explanations with Egyptian myths and customs. It never went too far. Odyssey, on the other hand, just forgot what series it belongs to and took a massive sh*t on everything AC stands for. That's the main reason why I hate this game with a passion. Not even because it's a terrible RPG with a bloated copy-pasted world and mind-numbingly boring gameplay. I hate it because it completely derailed the series that I once loved. And it did that right after Origins gave me hope that the series might get back on track and even do a Bayek trilogy as a soft reboot. But no... All hopes and dreams had to be crushed by this bloody malaka Kassandra and her stupid modern suit. After Odyssey, the series can't be saved. The only way out is to completely reboot it. Possibly make a brand new canon where none of the existing games happened. I would suggest the 80s during the beginning of Animus project where the protagonist relives the memories of brand new ancestors in brand new periods we haven't seen before.
One thing that really surprised me when i play my first ac game (ac2) is it super sci-fi, i thought it would be fantasy and magical idk from what i heard about POE But it turn out to be super technologies and science and logical game (idk how to call it lol) so when i first saw odyssey idk why but i feel like something is off, and after a while i know why, AC are all about science, even POE that sound pretty fantasy is a machine-like more than a magical ball so yeah i think ODS is a fun game to play especially for new player because it's really new player friendly, I don't think it bad but definitely not my favorite ac game
Holy damn, so I am a legend then since I kinda liked Odyssey yet I laugh and love your opinions on this game. There are a lot of things that I agree with you, especially about that combat.
They should never have compromised on concepts already established. Why are there fire swords and immortal humans in an assassins creed game? This series was about ASSASSINS and templars and their age old conflict that was lost in history. The story and lore felt like it could have happened in real life and we just didn't study about it in our history classes. Once they brought fire/poison swords, flashy abilities and the bullshit mythological/fantasy stuff, that sense of realism was gone. What made the earlier assassins creed games awesome were the subtle science fiction elements and the mystery behind it. Everything is so in your face and outlandish in the newer garbage. How the f does kassandra go invisible? How do you even explain that ability? And why are there arrows that go through walls? Seriously? What is this? Leap of faith though unrealistic is actually very believable. It's not so supernatural and can be explained by the assassin's acrobatic skills but going invisible? Every franchise has a line that separates realism from unrealism but ubi ignored its own drawn line and crossed it to give us this shit.
Every assassin's creed game has it's good parts and bad parts. What I love about each is that you can take your time with these games and just have fun .
What a fan base we all are, don't take me wrong but I also hate Odyssey but do we all remember back in 2012 when AC 3 came out it was also hated but now we all are reconsidering it. And now think after some time like after the release of AC Infinity, Ubisoft just gave us another mess then what will we all do? Look back to the older games considering them better which I surely can say will also include AC Odyssey. And don't take me wrong it's the human nature
I really like odyssey, but one of the reasons is because i never played the old games. Seeing how the series used to be makes me feel bad for the og players
As a massive fan of Odyssey, im not really an assassins creed fan. The first game was okay and 2-4 were just bad. The lore is cool, but the modern day stuff killed the immersion of the games for me and the controls i the first 4 games are pretty horrendous. Odyssey is to this day, the only AC game iv actually played all the way through and i have done so multiple times.
We want gameplay of AC Unity Story of AC ezio trilogy Combat of unity and black flag mix Stealth and parkour of unity Character control of AC1 to revelations Soundtrack of AC2 Sound usage of AC1 Open world of Valhalla Environment of Origins Nothing from Odyssey
I would love ac3 combat more than blackflag since the camera lockon for animations was way better then blackflags (the unlocked camera for bf cuz of ship battles which causes some animations to be jankier than they should be)
I feel in love with the series after playing Black Flag and i play AC3, Rogue, Syndicate, Unity and i adored Origins (mostly cuz the story is amazing) but then i played Odyssey for 5h and it left a sour tastes in my mouth and i haven't played any ac games ever since :/
Oddyssey was the first ac game I played. I enjoyed it. I was looking for a open world rpg. Just finished origins and jumped in oddyssey again to go visit that world and I def see what you're talking about now. I have valhalla but I kinda played oddyssey and origins ba k to back and they are huge games to platinum so I'm playing some other things so I dont get worn out.
You should probably hold on playing Valhalla for a while if you just came out of Odyssey since the gameplay is a huge downgrade combat and stealth wise imo stealth being the worst of all games. The game takes over 70 hours to complete just the main story without side quest Interruption because it forces you to play other "main" missions that feel like sidequest to continue the story, it's way longer than it should be because it forces you to travel alot even during main quests but the story is good.
The Ancient Greek setting is lit. Also Legacy of the First Blade makes up for every problem I had with Odyssey. Odyssey isn't necessarily an Assassin's Creed game by tradition but I can still treat it like it's an AC game by playing it the way I can. Still, I can't expect an AC game to be an AC game if the main character is not a Hidden One/Assassin themselves. At least, that's the best way I can explain why Odyssey and Valhalla were so different story wise and gameplay wise
Odyssey is extremely sci-fi. Every mythical creature or so called magic/super powers. Is all explained away as being pieces of Eden. So what at first seems like fantasy actually turns out to have been sci-fi the whole time. Its all explained in the Atlantis DLC.
Here’s a fun challenge for ac odyssey Pacifist kill the least amount of people possible Weapons:fist and stun arrows Armor:any Assassinations:knockouts if possible Bow:any (You can use 1 melee weapon on your secondary slot for buffs like warrior damage and health) Abilities:as many non lethal like spartan kick (always have on lethal like hero strike for things like boss fights so you can chunk their health or cultists or people that have to be killed) Difficulty: any (I would start on easy and do new game plus after you beat it and gradually pump the difficulty up)
I love the og assassins creed games. But I’m a simple man. No matter how bad the game is if the combat is entertaining enough I’m sold. I enjoy a lot of games people hate like mass effect 3 or anthem or even this game just cuz the combat is so fun.
Odyssey isn't a bad game in my opinion but compared to others that I've looked at (and been unable to play) it has alot of missed opitunitys with this time frame and story being dragged out but the gameplay is still alot of fun
Maybe it's just me, but due to the new engine and graphics, the character models look somehow "plasticine". In Unity, AC III or Syndicate the characters looked more massive, human, with more detail and much better facial expressions. Especially in Syndicate where the level of cinematicity in the cutscenes was showing every emotion, every wrinkle, sadness or anger . The more it gives this feeling that the camera is very far away from the character, when in the older parts it was just behind the protagonist's back, it added some intimacy and much more immersion. I loved moments when you could see every detail, a fraction of humanity in the character of the game. Old Altair, Ezio from AC2, Connor during the Charles Lee assassination, Edward when he saw his daughter. Elise death, Jacob from Jack the Ripper dlc, Bayek split with Aya (Origins was the last good of the series). It all went away with Alexios and his voice actor XD.
I personaly didn't like the takedown animations. Running the spear through is chest and out of his back and then give him slight punch in the face. What is this??😂
This is why I avoided AC Origins for so many years. I could not accept that he was seeing through his pet eagle. I just thought it was too fantasy-ish. I understand that eagle vision in previous games was not realistic either, but at least it's inherent to the person, not involving literally transferring his consciousness to an eagle. But during the summer sale I just sucked it up and gave it a chance. It's actually a pretty good game. I just really wish the eagle mechanic was not that necessary.
And I'm sorry but this youtuber is another one of the blind fanboys of the series and just hating odyssey for the sake of it and if you want evidence watch his vids on odyssey, he says it basically that he 'makes fun off odyssey'

Toss a drachma to your Misthios, oh Vale of Tempe, woooaah...
Ubisoft in 2012 we removed the crossbow because it's not historically accurate
Ubisoft now JARED BUTLER SIMULATOR with MAGIC
I like Oddysey and Valhalla a lot. What drags them is them being too long. 40 hours of their concentrated content and detail instead of being stretched and they would be much better looked at.
I agree I found myself not even caring about half of the characters anyway.
You know I like Odyssey, but I 100 percent agree with you here.
@@johnxiong6983 yeah I 100% agree it's a great game just doesn't fit well with Assassin's creed tbf
Sometimes I forget this is an assassin’s creed game
I've had a theory that Odyssey was never meant to be an AC game, but at the last minute Ubisoft changed the title to boost sales,
And as time goes on I think that's actually true because the only AC thing about this game is the title.
@@uditvedantmishra9719 That definitely would've been better, but still not great
Ive completed odyssey a little while ago and it may or may not be one of my favorite games in the series
I played ODYSSEY 2500 hours...valhalla is boring game I played...
I love Odyssey, and I love your videos
It's not for AC purists. If you take it as a mythological rpg story about a Greek character. It's amazing. You're an actual demi-god and you get to feel that.
I love Odyssey! And I love these videos 🤷🏾♂️😂.. carry on plz 🙏🏽
You are great man ! We need your videos badly
I played this game last month, giving it a fair chance. It's worse than I thought it was...
I am a fan of the series since ac1, but honestly, I like the game odyssey. I just keep telling myself "Lets play spartan warrior odyssey- this not an ac! No not an ac..."
Imagine if Ubisoft just sort of did it like “Odyssey an Assassins creed story” type of games same with Valhalla : an assassins creed story separating them from the mainline titles while working to improve the old formula I think that would’ve made me enjoy odyssey and Valhalla more but knowing they changed assassins creed permanently I couldn’t bring myself to liking the new system at all
That is SOOOO fucking dogshit. I can't believe people are like this in the AC community.
Basically two fans.
1. Assassins Creed Fans (2007-2014/15)
2. Ubisoft Fantasy RPG Fans (2017-Present)
I played my first ac this year so that's probably why I like odyssey
@@ilymmiaxi3504 its a different series with the same name, glad you like it but its completely different. look up AC 1, 2 or even Unity and compare to the new games. i wish ubi just made a new series instead but the name makes money.
As I judge AC and other games as individual experiences, I really enjoyed Odyssey, as it was pretty solid overall. But to each their own
Loving oddessy, and love your content ;)
I respect both opinions and I like how you don't hate on the fans of Odyssey.
Personally I hated Odyssey for the longest time, but after playing more of it I grew to love it in its own, goofy way. It's not at all a good Assassin's Creed game. But it is a good game on its own. Mostly. And the world is beautiful.
"You can even summon Celebrimbor..." lol! That, along with the points you made about this game, got me sub to this channel, no questions asked.
dude, honestly this is so much more therapeutic for me than you think as well
I find Asgard to be less fantasy compared to the stuff of Odyssey since it's more of like Eviors interpretation of the Isu civilization cause when you see what actually happened when they did the reincarnation thing it's way more in line with the Sci-Fi element of the older games.
Imagine you also just came from the Video "Swords Experts reacting to Assassins Creed Combat"
I said this many times and I will say it again,
The movie " Meet the Spartans " had a more realistic Spartan experience than Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
not gonna lie, I love AC Odyssey. It's a fun game. Not so AC-ish, but a fun game indeed.
I miss the old assassin’s creed games
Hey am a fan of this channel been watching u for years longer than I can remember
There was a unicorn in Brotherhood, and this game was originally titled “Odyssey: An Assassin’s Creed Story”. Doesn’t make the game any more historically accurate or the Helix Store any less blatantly money-hungry though. ;)

Keep em coming! hahaha
You brought up Ghost of Tsushima ... that's the best AC game to come out in a long time.
Subscribed
This youtuber has zero fucking points when it comes to odyssey. He's hating it for the sake of it.
@@godzillazfriction it has the same name, but most of the elements that make assassin's creed assassin's creed isnt there.

Loved and completely agree w you, but i really loved the shadow of war reference lmao

From now on, ima Stuart calling AC Odyssey just Odyssey because it’s not truly an AC game.
Yay, another Odyssey video.
i do love odyssey. played through it 3 times. only ac game ive played through more than once

As a old school fan i still can't believe that people are still accepting these changes
Been playing since day one back in 2007. And the last 3 games have been my favorite of the whole franchise.

It was a sci-fi game, I miss those days.
Odyssey is extremely sci-fi. Every mythical creature or so called magic/super powers. Is all explained away as being pieces of Eden. So what at first seems like fantasy actually turns out to have been sci-fi the whole time.
Its all explained in the Atlantis DLC.

Assassinations:knockouts if possible
Bow:any
(You can use 1 melee weapon on your secondary slot for buffs like warrior damage and health)
Abilities:as many non lethal like spartan kick (always have on lethal like hero strike for things like boss fights so you can chunk their health or cultists or people that have to be killed)
Difficulty: any (I would start on easy and do new game plus after you beat it and gradually pump the difficulty up)
I love the og assassins creed games.
Especially in Syndicate where the level of cinematicity in the cutscenes was showing every emotion, every wrinkle, sadness or anger
"SO HERE'S THIS GIANT ENEMY CRAB"
I know how much you love this game..really😆
Also, in the other games the assassinations were key for the story, in Odyssey the assassinations can be completely ignored.
