@@MrKLeBlanc he's with the San Antonio Spurs an organization known to be respected, drama free and disciplined just check out the Robinson and Duncan era. It'd probably be an issue if he was in a large market like Los Angeles New York San Francisco etc. but thankfully he's not.

That OKC game was the first time I saw Victor in person, and it felt like the first time I got to see Shaq or Jordan in person where one guy is just such a ridiculous level over everyone else on the floor. That dad block on Holmgren is about the most hyped I have ever been at an NBA game in the regular season and was such an incredible capstone to one of Wemby's best performances so far.
As a french guy, we are so proud and excuted to see him play! Besides all his abilities and crazy potential, he seems to be a very nice and well mannered guy! And this matters!!
He's clearly going to try for number one, you can see it on his shirt. As going for GOAT is concerned, well, I think it depends on how much he develops in physicality, will be be strong enough, and that is looking good so far, he's a fake skinny, he carries a lot of weight at that size, even on the somewhat slender frame, you can see it in how he can hold himself against someone like Giannis. But he's a big man. A very big man, so the real key will be his injury record. He seems to have very good physical conditioning and preparation, and has tried to strengthen his body to make himself injury resistant. If he manages to break the odds there his potential is as high as anyone's has ever been in the NBA. He seems to have the motivation and the intelligence as well as the ability. For sure he is a hall of famer. But GOAT means playing at the highest level for the longest time. We might have to make an exception for Wemby if his level is just that much higher than everyone else though. I don't think there has ever been anyone of that size playing that way. He's a giant among boys at the highest level of the sport, it's insane to watch.
Not since very few guards ever get 5 blocks in a game and every era before the current bigs wouldn't shoot the 3 But well there's alot better 5x5 in history especially if you count unofficial ones before the blocks and steals got recorded
I don’t know about the GOAT yet. I think it’s too early for that conversation. But Wemby definitely has all the intangibles to be in the GOAT convo and also be the face of the league. I just wish him a long, successful, and healthy career because I would love to see him play for a long time.
He's been a beast but I still worry about his health. They should keep on taking their time with him. I just can't help remembering Sean Livingston, a tall, stringy, agile guy who looked like a future all star. He went up once, there was no contact and when he landed his knee exploded. Multiple ligament tears out of nowhere. Then there was Yao, another super tall, and sure he was massive in comparison but he also didn't run and drive and bounce like that. He had no injuries for years then suddenly it's like his feet fell apart. If I were the spurs I'd be doing MRIs on his knees and feet multiple times a year and have an orthopaedic surgeon checking his bone density etc and if he's going to need stem cells at some point to repair wear and tear or whatever. They got to do everything possible to prevent injuries. Because I too want to see what Wembanyama can do when he hits his prime, and we've just never seen anyone that tall move like that.
@@Voggl242 No. He hates losing. After his 5x5 someone mentioned he was the first rookie to do it since MJ and he asked if MJ did it in a win. When he was told he did, he said he was jealous.
Yup What do you do if Wemby is shooting like Steph and passing like Jokic. Wemby has the potential to be elite at so many things that it dont seem possible for a player to do.
That wasn’t even a strategy back then, I don’t get why people say guys who played in the 80s would dominate today, the back to the basket 2 point shots aren’t going to cut it vs the modern super stars.

Wemby is great but is not yet able to deal with Giannis and Jokic as those guys can outmuscle him. YET being the key word, the guy will dominate very soon.
His bone structure won't support that much weight. May as well say the same thing about KD. Dude is 6'11" and what....maybe 225? I know he's listed at 240 but that's a lie. He's gonna be a tall af skinny dude his whole career. Super tall and heavy dudes don't last long.
Can Victor Wembanyama be the NBA's Next G.O.A.T?
