I have owned an Evolve 50 system for 20 months or so. It is used in an acoustic duo setting using two guitars with built in pickups and two vocal mics and performs very well. Having compared the Bose system and EV system at Guitar Center before purchasing, there was no comparison. Price was not an issue with me. I wanted simplicity and great sound. The Evolve 50 cranks more and can be used for larger venues with more people. Also, during breaks the system has been used to play various styles of R&R and puts out impressive volume and tone. I have no issue with Bose, but like to adjust my tone the way I want it and the EV allows this, which was a key point for me. Having said that, both systems are very good and will serve the user well if they believe in them. You will never be happy with a sound system that you do not believe is the right one for you and your ears. We are all different, so there will never be a consensus on this.

I compared the two today in guitar center. Side by side. Bose is a little crisper, and i little louder. But not $1000 crisper and $1000 louder. EV sounded really good too. JBL Eon One Pro couldn't hold a candle to either one. But battery power is pretty cool, so I expect EV and Bose to come up with their own battery versions. With Bose being the innovator in this tech, I bet whatever's next will be amazing. But for the price, I'm leaning towards EV. Especially with the DSP and Bluetooth. Plus I like one tidy unit without that huge footprint tripping hazard of a base Bose has. Plus...without the Bose separate $500 tuner there is no way to check your gain levels, no delay settings and just one input. No disrespect to Bose, I look forward to what they come up with next. But I believe with the competition they may have to lower the price a tad!!! Wonder when QSC will release a tower system......WATCH OUT!!!!!

Tripping hazard? It stands up- he put it on it's side, for starters. Secondly, if you are an entertainer and can't avoid tripping over your own amps and sound system, you might want to find something else to do. 🤣

@@mshep6318 of course… if you make a survey aleatory on a thousand people maybe 90% would say the same because QSC is a brand known on the musicians environment. Is just the fame.
By other means you probably have the tendency to favor Bose even if you don’t notice a difference in quality of sound.
But my opinion weights on the fact that I am a college graduated electronics tech, and also work on a daily basis in a recording studio… nothing even near a DJ work, just in case.
I had the chance to measure the power that the F1 manage and is significant less than the QSC, and that measure was done using the oscillator of my Mackie DL16S on 40Hz, 120Hz., 1KHz and 7KHz, measuring both voltage and amperes RMS.
Bose is a well known brand, no more.
You had the opinion of 6 people.. who were at least a musician?
I used two F1s, two F1Subs, plus four S1 as floor monitors in an event for the Mayor of Miami Beach in a ballroom with 300 people, that was my worse Bose experience. And instead of get the opinion of 6 regular people I was with my 7 members band, half of them with recordings studios at home… specially the pianist told me the horrible when hos S1 monitor turned off dur to clipping

@@thelatinensemble4670 congratulations on your qualifications, however, you are assuming quite a lot. You have no idea who was listening to my small test and to be honest, weather they are musicians or not is immaterial. It is what 'they' prefer, what sounds better. My test was done on a flat eq, and at the same level. I have been sound engineering for many years and I get fed up with 'purist audiophiles' that try and put me down spouting on about "No highs, no lows, it has to be bose" rubbish. Until they hear my mix. I am not going to name drop, but I have mixed for some high end bands, singers even comedians and shows. I have only ever had praise regarding the quality of the sound. Now, all our ears are different, and I'm not saying my ears hear better than yours. I just do not conform to what people expect me to say, purely what I can offer as a provider of sound for their gigs or shows. If I ever hear better, I'll let you know!

@@mshep6318 that’s completely right, and I learn in statistics at college that always there is an average, so even statistics asume… my wife is my sound engineer and she has over 5 years experience, I did her training, still today I teach her and when there is something wrong I let her know, she gladly accept all my recommendations because I got out of college in May 1986, and then made studies in accoustics.
Let me give you an example and I will use my wife. Recently and justo to test it I purchased the RCF Evox J8, which is different than a full range speaker. She prefers the sound of the QSC, but I could demonstrate the reach of a column of tweeters better than only one, even with the good dispersion that the QSC’s have.
She told me also the fact that in 5 years doing sound for my band she never had a feedback and questioned why most of the live bands always have feedbacks, my answer was exactly what you stated: Flat. Everything flat.
You can make adjustments on each instrument, but the main out or FOH needs to be flat, unless you critically need to compensate something.
Thanks for your opinion and hope we can help each other again!

There is definitely great warmth with the Bose. The Bose always sounds good at home and with small venues but when it comes to a larger scale and live settings it will not be able to hang with the EV! The EV's will continue to get louder and with clarity.

They have to be when you reduce the physical size of a driver or cabinet. Everything is a trade-off. personally i could not tell the difference. Thanks for going to the trouble to compare these two systems. I have a live Celtic band and did a gig once with a DJ who had two of the Evolves. It sounded so much better than my system (a powered Mackie mixer and EV non-powered speakers); it just blew me away. I decided to get something like that as soon as I could afford it. Has Bluetooth and you can use a phone app to control them, multiple inputs, easy to set up. I was wondering whether anyone else is doing live music with these things and if there's ever a feedback issue; I've heard that these are designed to defeat feedback. Another bandleader I know is using one Bose L1 and it does sound pretty good, no feedback, no monitors required, just an awesome sound, but very heavy and expensive. Is there a compelling reason to get the Bose, which is an extra $1000? I'd rather buy two EV's which comes to about $600 more than a single Bose. They say you get what you pay for, but in this case, probably even one Evolve is overkill for a band like mine. What do you think?

Is there any real difference in terms of how the sound spreads (Bose 180° vs I guess 120° or 130° for the EV)? I got a EV Everse 8 which I really like (more than the Bose S1 Pro that I had before) but an older L1 Model II / B2 for bigger venues which is very good for me as well. One big advantage of the Bose beside the nice sound, for me as a performing sax player, is the even and circular spread of no matter where I stand in front of the speaker system.

However, as for a PA system they cannot hack it, even in pairs. Once they are driven to even a reasonable level they just break up. Bose has perfected the science of seduction for your ears. They sound so good until the room fills up. They are good for a solo act with acoustic set up or for solo vocalist with backing tracks only. The Bose L1 system requires very careful handling. It has been said that the original Bose Classic system was by far the best system ever for this particular product design. @@djblitz1985 I sold the rcf evox 8 ---wasn't impressed . Plus they look ugly!. I bought EVOLVE 50'S and they sound much better. The EV sub still sucks though---nice low end but DEFINATELY NOT A SUB. Between EVOX 8 & EVOLVE 50 NO COMPARISON, EV WINS BIG.
