Many of these games could overlap on the other categories but I’ll go with:
    Table hogger: Marvel Dice Throne
Game off the back of the shelf: The Castles of Burgundy
    Second Date Game: Meadow
New Game in the Collection: Wonderlands War
    Top Overall Game: Dune Imperium

Great list! I played Meadow for the first time this year and I definitely need to play it again!

    Good fun and brilliant categories!
My table hog/most played game was Beyond The Sun, mostly because I brought it to Europe this summer and introduced it to all my friends. 😄
My “back of the shelf” pick has got to be The Princes of Florence (from 2000). Introduced it to my friends and everyone loves it! 👍
My second-date game is so hard to choose because I played so many great games only once (in no small part thanks to SHUX this fall): Gaia Project, Bus, Whistle Mountain, Newton … the list goes on! But I think the winner has to be Skymines because of recency bias (just played it last weekend). 😜
New to my collection this year: there are so many good ones, but let’s go with Crystal Palace. I don’t usually gravitate to auction games (or economic games) but I think it’s so interesting how you use your dice to bid, and more powerful actions require higher die values, but you have to pay more money for them. Super interesting! ✨
Top overall game is so difficult! I learned 87 new games this year! But because it hasn’t been nominated yet, I’ll go with Underwater Cities. It has everything I like in a game, and my friends like it too! This has been the year I discovered Vladimír Suchy’s games … what a talented designer! 🪸
Thanks for the video! Happy holidays! 💚

Marvel Dice Throne would probably be my Table Hog and Top Overall game of 2022. Other favorites of mine from 2022 would be Vagrantsong, Long Shot: The Dice Game, Creature Comforts, Ready Set Bet, Green Team Wins, Dungeons, Dice & Danger, and 3000 Scoundrels. What a great year for gaming!

Good categories and choices! I haven't played My Father's Work or Phantom Ink but they're both ones I want to try! My favorites that came out this year are Décorum and Ready Set Bet. But I haven't had the chance to play a bunch of the games that came out this year. Our top table hogger (that didn't come out this year) is Cross Clues - another word party game, but it's real-time so you think of clues while also guessing them and there's no down time, so I love that.

Oooh ready set bet was a blast! Need to track down a copy of that one!

I like the variation of categories! Haven't played many actual new games from this year, but a lot of these sounded interesting. Thanks for the recommendations, and congrats on all the growth for the channel this year!!

Great vid and nice list! Haven't played too much new ones but Wonderland's War would be a top for us. Would love to try Green Teams Wins and Decorum. Merry Christmas y'all 🥂

Just found you guys via @eatchofood! We also have a toddler and LOVE board games but feel like we’ve had to stop playing games at home since having kids. Do you guys have any videos on tips for continuing to play board games virtually or in person with friends & family while having a toddler?? Feel like we can only ever manage to have one of us play while the other wrangles, and that’s if we’re lucky.

Welcome to the channel! This is the constant struggle with us as well but the two things that we try to do are 1. plan ahead (or have a regularly scheduled game night) so that we can arrange for childcare and/or mentally prep as well, and 2. wait till after bedtime 😅 For that second option, oftentimes we're really tired, so I've accumulated a number of lighter games that don't require a ton of brain power! I talk about those more on my IG and Tiktok pages - hope this helps!
