The city of Noblesville has told the Indiana Transportation Museum to hit the road after 52 years. The Parks and Recreation Board voted Wednesday to end its relationship with the museum at Forest Park when its lease expires in March (2018). The ITM has not shown good stewardship with the resources entrusted to them for more than fifty years,” Ditslear said in a statement. “The City of Noblesville is taking these proactive measures now to protect our residents and our heritage, to ensure Forest Park is cleaned up and to bring the trains back to our community with a new operator.”
City spokesman Robert Harrington said the city doesn't want the trains but wants them cleared out as soon as possible so environmental clean up can begin. He said the museum can move the trains anyway it wants but doubted the tracks were in usable shape." We don't want anything. We want remediation to begin so we can see what is safe to go there," Herrington said.

Not talking about it, out of 'fear' for the museum, is a red herring and not valid. If their goal is to fix things and keep the place going, then they will not worry about the return fire they'll draw. Can't have it both ways. Chicken is chicken, the bad guys count on that.

I thought as Railroad employees, volunteer or paid, we represent both the public and the company in the same way and matter similar to first responders on those two sides of the playing field. If one employee is doing his or her job to report unjust or unsafe practice and behaviors, why would they be labeled as a "whistleblower" when trying to save it and the infrastructure from going under? If a company's own staff can't even trust those within neither can the public in return.

I'm really mad that this happened. Like I can understand if the museum closed, But I believe something could have gone in place instead of a stupid trail. Like maybe some kind of commuter train. But no Hamilton county officials don't care about anyone but them selves. I would rather have my tax money go to public transportation like some kind of commuter train than a stupid rail to trail.

Corrupt financial operations by greedy individuals at a volunteer organization? The solution is easy: suspend the board, instate a new "temporary" board until further notice, and keep them forever. Maybe Cloudsdale-Weather can lend a hand. We don't actually exist yet, but we are here to help!
Also try bolt cutters, because it's not easy to stop a train one it gets going. I don't think they should suspend operations because of some corruption. Do what I said, and come back to the issue... never.

When I went up to Indianapolis back in February of this year for a model train show at the fairgrounds, the tracks that went by the fairgrounds were gone. If I knew this was going to happen I would've found some way to ride the fair train and now I'll never get that chance, sigh. Why did rich people have to ruin a good thing?

It is sad that a Public heritage is caught up in a clusterpuck of mismanagement or corruption. I hope the museum weathers thru this shiite storm.

Because they have no life. Outside of that museum they have nothing and they are nobodies. At the museum everybody knows what's best for the place. They get a BS title. I'm in charge, I'm in charge, no i'm in charge. But I'm a retired Air National Guard Major and I'm an expert. Well I know someone who knows someone that was a porter for the NYC RR in the 40s-50s so I'm an expert on how this should run. Then to prove themselves right they shoot themselves in the foot and bite their nose off to spite their face by doing dumb shit. Then It gets so out of hand that a Governmental agency has to step in to straighten it out. Seen it before :-/
