This is awesome! Thanks for uploading this. I was actually at this performance, and it was by sheer dumb luck. I was working right next door at the time at the Arclight Cinema and one of my coworkers who knew about this duo told me they were going to be doing a set at Amoeba that day and that we should go because he knew I would love these guys. We both got off of work just in time to get over there and we had a friend who worked at the store sneak us in at the last minute. What a great day that was!
Weird though considering there's a thing called sound checks. Even I was a lesser known musician for awhile - I even did that! Even at non-paying gigs. ;)
A new season of Flight of the Conchords please!!! Hope you are working on one secretly in your downtime (if you have much). I would show my kids these clips for many laughs.
Originally they were offered a huge pay day to make season 3 but they refused to forcefully write songs just to make the TV show as the first two season were written around their albums. So much integrity to their work.
I live in Edinburgh and saw them the first time they played in the Cave - a venue that was actually a dungeon. They came for a few years and got bigger each time. The sitcom was first done as a radio show for the BBC. Well, not the same but same concept. It featured them as a fictionalised version of their band with the same songs and with the same guy playing their manager. I know Taika Waititi came to Edinburgh with them as he is a pal of theirs. Bret was also in an actual band I like called The Blackseeds. New Zealand Reggae which sounds funny but it totally serious.
@@jenfine - Oh, I didn't see that show. There are literally 1000 shows a day and over 300 venues as you are probably aware. I missed the festival very much this year. EVERYTHING is cancelled. Christmas and Hogmanay. Although, I'm sure many will just gather in the streets as they always did in the past before it became organised. Happens all the time; just remember...the guys and somebody else checked that before they came on. Was it a set piece that didn't quite come off?? Or maybe it did????
Compare this pair of superb performers to the talent free plastic shit saturation promoted by the corporations as artists. Their work is superb and timeless, just wish they were still performing together.
