@@WreckinWookie What did he do for the NHL? LMAO You ignorant child. What Ryan Miller did was help expand the NHL's fan base with his INCREDIBLE performance in the 2010 Olympics giving the US a shot in the Gold Medal game against a far superior Canadian team. The US never trailed a single time in the entire tournament because Miller stood on his head! Their only loss was in OT of the Gold Medal game, even though Canada outshot and outplayed them by a HUGE margin. He was so good in fact that he won the MVP of the entire tournament playing for a team that didn't even win gold. He is also the only goalie in hockey history to win the Hobey Baker and be named best goalie in the NCAA, the AHL, the NHL, and at the Olympic Games. Any questions, dope?

    • @Rockhound6165

It's always been that way. Back when the Flyers won their Cups, they all used to hang out at this corner bar called Rexy's which, unfortunately, burned down(the players wore black arm bands in memoriam). They also used to play charity softball against local police or fire departments. On occasion, after the game, one of the policemen or firemen would host a BBQ in their back yards and some of the players used to attend. Can you imagine Bobby Clarke hanging out with you and your friends after a softball game? Players today wouldn't even think of that.

Gonna be 64 next week, spent more years on ice than some folks spent on earth, got to where I was hockeyed out, but I gotta tell you, I have tears in my eyes. No other sport can match it, and in no other sport will you see moments like this. I can tell you from my own experience, acknowledging the kids, or giving a little kid a biscuit can give them the biggest smile you've ever seen. For as tough as hockey players are, there are some really tender and touching moments.

Reminds me of this past summer when I took my 7 year old daughter to a minor league baseball game(Wilmington Blue Rocks) and she got picked to yell "Play Ball" before the game and as she left the field a player gave her a ball. She was so happy(she got their mascot Rocky to sign it later).

Hockey players, of all levels, are just different. When my grandson was 3, and learning how to skate, the high school kids adopted him to help. Now that he is 5, and skates very well, he turns around to help 3 year olds. They learn from a very young age to help and be kind, and most of them carry it throughout their lives.

Such inspiration from these kids' heroes could inspire them to become the next Drew Brees, Stephen Curry, Alexander Ovechkin, or Mike Trout! Perhaps pursuing athletics in college/university, or even representing their country as an Olympian! So I got a personal story. I'm an Anaheim Ducks fan, and Corey Perry was my favorite player in his time with us (prolly because 10 was my number, and he wore it). Was sad to see him go, but he came here to Dallas. First game, Ducks @ Stars, I bought a ticket for a spot right behind the Stars bench where the forwards would sit in the 2nd period. Wore a Perry Ducks jersey. Brought a sign. Before the game, when he does his warmups, he gave me a fist bump. Before the 2nd period, while they were warming up, I held up the sign behind the bench, Pavs (the fucking legend) got Corey's attention and pointed me out to him, and Perry tossed me a puck. The Ducks Instagram got a great shot of me with the sign up with both of them sitting underneath it that night.
Corey Perry is a player who is very love him or hate him, but the guy is a class fucking act as a human being, and I will never not sing his praises. I love that the NHL is full of players like these.
