So two things I would like to help you guys clear up that you seemed a bit confused on....the prisoner they shot was actually legally executed under the Rule of Engagements/War/Geneva Convention. If pay attention, when you first hear the soldiers find the prisoner asking him "where did'ya get that boy?, Who'd did ya kill for it". The coat the prisoner was wearing was an american combat uniform/coat. Under the rule called "Ruse De Guerre" (Ruse of War) any enemy combatant found wearing the uniform of the opposition is considered hostile w/ ill intent to his captures. Meaning some wore their enemies uniform to trick them and kill them..Specially since many germans knew enough english and some fluent in it...and rarely were able to immitate american accents. The Second Scene I saw you confusion in was the eggs and cigarettes...basically at this point germany's infrastructure and economy were completely destroyed....many people could not get basic necessities as many supplies were destroyed/lost or confiscated by the german army...Eggs were some of the commodities hard to get a hold off and cigarette, like in prison became a source of trade/currency.
this applies to CIVILIANS as well.. no civilian can participate in combat in non combat uniforms they lose protections under the law and can be executed.

American tanks were inferior in part because we had to make them portable. We had to transport them clear across the Atlantic Ocean to fight the Germans in North Africa and Europe, and we had to transport them all across the vast Pacific Ocean to fight the Japanese. The need to transport our tanks via ship across huge distances imposed size and weight limits on American tanks, whereas there were no such limitations on German and Russian tanks. They were therefore free to build larger, heavily armored main battle tanks with bigger, more powerful main guns then the USA as a result. The tradeoff was that American tanks were easier to manufacture and could be mass produced, which allowed the U.S. to win tank battles by outnumbering the opponents.

not to be that guy but its actually a 76mm sherman and not a firefly (m4a2e8 not be confused with the m4a3 76w hvss) you can easily tell the firefly apart from the 76 models by looking at their different turrets, while the firefly housed the same, mostly unchanged 75mm turrent from the earlier models (excluding the rear mounted radio), the sherman shown in fury/76 versions have a different turret shape with a more pronounced and elongated rear and a considerably thicker and more retangular looking gun manlet

Tankers were hard core. My dad was 3AD 3nd AR D Company. He commanded Sherman's and a Pershing (his tanks kill of a Tiger in Cologne is documented in The history of the Pershing). You don't have to like these guys, but they saved the world. They paid the price so you don't have to.
When John Bernthal is dragging Norman out of the house's rubble, it seems like he's just being an asshole but he's trying to protect him from the trauma.

One of the things about the US tanks vs. German tanks in WW2 was that it was a quality against quantity war. The American tanks were like the jeeps and trucks, just complicated enough to work and be effective, but not anywhere near the best gear on the field. But they were easily manufactured and easily repaired and parts could be salvaged from them. The German tanks were often works of engineering wonder. They were designed beautifully and were manufactured to demanding standards, but they required skilled technicians to repair and could not be manufactured anywhere near the numbers the Americans. A loss of a german tank was a big deal to their forces. if an american tank broke down, they stripped what they could and got another one much quickly out on the field.
IMO. Germany was a vastly more technically advanced military than we were. But! The problem with technology is that repairs can be difficult and time consuming. I believe that the radio systems in German tanks were using FM radios and was more advanced than our tanks. Again. Look at the German battleship Bismarck. It was state of the art for its time. The Brits got lucky dropping a torpedo from a Biplane that jammed her rudder. Germany also had the the first missiles, the V1 and V2 rockets and they also had the first jet fighter in the Me~262.
God bless all of the tank crews who went into battle in Europe with our early Shermans knowing that they were outclassed by superior main battle tanks, with little chance to survive such confrontations! God bless the real “War Daddy” and the actual tank crew of Fury, upon which this movie is based. God bless all the courageous veterans with nerves of steel who risked everything and sacrificed so much to protect our countries and preserve the freedoms we enjoy today! I've seen the movie, missed the premier/chat. This one certainly contrasts high ideals with the ugly horror that is war and the varied human elements. Freedom surely isn't free. Happy Independence Day.
This movie is epic love it, I lm a big fan of this channel but this edit its too much, you cut so many important scenes to the story line and plot. This was a disappointing reaction for me. Sorry! And im sure im not the only one saying this! But there are some fun-facts about it. Brad Pitts “war daddy” Character is based on a real person. His name was Lafayette G Pool. He is known as America’s Tank ace of world war 2. He managed to destroy 12 tanks, and over 250+ Armored vehicles in under 90 days on the western front. He was awarded with multiple awards like the Silver Star, France’s legion of honour, Distinguished Service Cross (2nd highest award under the Medal of Honor). He is buried in the Sam Houston National Cemetery. The Tiger tank battle near the end of the movie was played by a Tiger 131, captured nearly intact in WW2 and it is the only remaining operational Tiger 1 in the world. The 131 lives at a tank museum in Britain, and rolls out in displays once in a blue moon. It only got hit in the gun mantle so wasn’t that damaged was just jammed hence they abandoned the tiger but normally they use death charges with a pin with a timer so this doesn’t happen they was even a tiger manual with instructions on this. Side note: The reason the tank battle looked like two morons were driving was because they were given specific instructions in which they were only allowed to move the tiger forward and backwards. They couldn't turn or move at an angle due to the old nature of the tank and potential damages. Keep up the good work.
The scene with the 4 American tanks advancing on the German position can only be fully enjoyed immersed in an IMAX theater..... Or from the comfort of your own recliner enveloped by your 5.1 home theater system cranked up to YOUR-MAX settings. Feel the vibrations of the tanks rumbling along the field... the sound of bullets whizzing past your head taking out the wall behind your cushioned body... the ricochet sounds as it obliterates your living room decor around you. Ahhh... the single life. Seriously though, this movie shows the true horror of war and the suffering and mental degradation these tank crews lived with. A beautiful movie with A-1 acting and cinematography. Love it!!!
The New guy always gets Hazed. That crew had been in Combat since North Africa in 1942. Battle takes nice guys and turns them hard. They had seen a lot of death in two years, friend and foe alike. It is always evident when you see a war movie that neither one of you served. If you are going to watch a movie like this you need to have a Veteran sitting there with you. You are not really stupid. You just don't know. In this, you are naive. It can't be helped. You didn't like those guys. The Army does not ask you who you want to serve with. You just have to do your job and protect each other. Those of us who served know that time in Service is usually not a thing to be enjoyed. It is a thing to be endured. That said. Those of us who have endured, would not trade the experience. The Military experience changes you. It is unavoidable. It is why Veterans give other Veterans deference. If you are around men who have served, nothing needs to be said. If you are around men who never served, They can not understand. No amount of speaking cane fix that. I could put names on those guys from my own experience. They were good men, dealing with Post Traumatic Stress while continuing to participate in and witness more and more trauma. They can not close their eyes or cover with their blanket to make it go away. They have to do their job and protect each other. Ya the language was rank. That's war and that's military. Try defending Liberty without them. A Soldier is never appreciated or understood until the enemy is at the gates. 17 million illegals have come into America in the past 3 1/2 years. They are not all Latino. There are at least a million Chinese and Russians. and Islamists in the ranks of the Illegal Immigrants. The Enemy is inside our gates. When things get out of hand, don't hide under the blanket. Get behind the grouchy old American Legion guy and He will defend you until he is dead. He knows. He has walk that road before. You don't like him now, ... But you will love him in that day.
American tanks could not penetrate German Tiger tank frontal armor. America took out the German tigers by having numerous tanks taking on one. The weak part on the Tiger was the rear of the tank. Also American tanks usually put logs on the side and parts or anything they could on the tank to slow the projectile before it hit the main armor. Tiger front only really had two weak points the drivers opening. And if you could fire a shot directly down their barrel detonating a round in the barrel or get a bullet lodged in the barrel so if they fired their gun would explode. Basically an impossible shot at that time.
They couldn't give up cause the mission said they were all that the army had between the SS battalion and the camp of women and doctors. They held the x road to save lives.

Yeah no offense, but a lot of this film and the tank crew’s relationship is going over your heads. You’re forgetting… They’re at WAR. And have been for 3 years and could die at any moment. And for 3 years have witnessed and down the worst of humanity. I’m not a vet or solider, but people don’t really grasp just everything solider experience on the front. Yeah they’re not gonna act super friendly, they’re gonna be a bit cold and jaded. Not always, but 9/10, they tend to be NO BULLSHIT kind of people that say and do almost pretty much what they want. The crew is so cold with Norman at the start because they just lost a pretty much BROTHER (Red) right at the start of the film if you remember? So they’re in mourning, but war mourning where you can’t and don’t really have time to grief/cry. War Daddy (Brad Pitt) even tells Norman not to get too close to anybody. They’re treating him cold so he and they don’t get attached to each other in case he dies. Did you guys not pick up on that AT ALL? I don’t know what you were expecting. Saving Private Ryan? Band of Brothers? They’re great no doubt and hopeful, but this, The Pacific, Downfall, Come and See, Generation Kill takes a more objective cold look at war.
No they couldn't have just gone and hid. They were ordered to hold the crossroads to prevent German forces from advancing! They did accomplish that for the most part.

Also keep saying this Germany had the most advanced planes, tanks, ships, submarines yet they still lost. America needs to remember that tech did not win WWII numbers did and cheap equipment. fury is, at best, fanfiction of a movie, but, its entertaining, if you think that is historic at all then you're deluded, setting does rise up for... whatever you want to use the word for it
This was not a fun time in human history. 80+ million dead, the most casualties from a war in all of human history. Europe and two Japan cities in rumble (I’m anti-war and Nukes, but had to be done, the emperor wouldn’t surrender and a lot of Japanese fought it he better end and on TH-cam the plan to invade mainland Japan, would’ve cost more lives and stretched the war longer)… A lot of people were not very “hopeful” after the war.
The Tiger Scene is horribly inaccurate. While it's a real Tiger 1 (The only one still running) the Sherman's 75 mm gun could penetrate the frontal armor at 3-500+ meters easily, and the uparmed Firefly version Fury (Which the US did not use, that was a British only model) could penetrate the front armor of a Tiger at nearly 1km. So while it's dramatic and makes for good story telling, it's very inaccurate. The 88 that the Tiger I and Tiger II used and the Panther 75 both had the ability to penetrate the Armor of a Sherman at equitable distances.
I really just wish that the folks making this film had not been so quick to make so many unrealistic choices in depicting the tank combat and a few other things...it is such a great movie in so many ways but could have been so much better. David Ayer is a really good director, but it seems like he should probably not try to deal with historical subjects...considering his work on his other WW2 movie U-571 is even more inaccurate than this film. I fully appreciate that some things have to be different than actual history sometimes, but this movie did a few too many things that are just completely against the real history for seemingly no real reason. There are such great acting performances in this movie, but it could have been so much better if they had gone the realistic route. IMHO

The German Tiger and Panzers tanks were heavily armored and had they had the 88mm gun. The 88 was probably Germanys best gun.
The average age of troops was 17-18. Most officers were 20-23. Anybody older was considered the old men

American tanks were inferior in part because we had to make them portable. We had to transport them clear across the Atlantic Ocean to fight the Germans in North Africa and Europe, and we had to transport them all across the vast Pacific Ocean to fight the Japanese. The need to transport our tanks via ship across huge distances imposed size and weight limits on American tanks, whereas there were no such limitations on German and Russian tanks. They were therefore free to build larger, heavily armored main battle tanks with bigger, more powerful main guns then the USA as a result. The tradeoff was that American tanks were easier to manufacture and could be mass produced, which allowed the U.S. to win tank battles by outnumbering the opponents.
in my many years as WW2 enthusiast I've learned a lot about the differences between Allied and Axis technology, including tanks. But never before have I seen the argument "US tanks must easily fit on a ship". It's such a simple fact, but only now does your comment make me realise this. Thank you

The tank 'Fury' is a modified Sherman tank. The Sherman Fìrefly. Bigger gun to compete with the German tanks.
not to be that guy but its actually a 76mm sherman and not a firefly (m4a2e8 not be confused with the m4a3 76w hvss) you can easily tell the firefly apart from the 76 models by looking at their different turrets, while the firefly housed the same, mostly unchanged 75mm turrent from the earlier models (excluding the rear mounted radio), the sherman shown in fury/76 versions have a different turret shape with a more pronounced and elongated rear and a considerably thicker and more retangular looking gun manlet

Tankers were hard core. My dad was 3AD 3nd AR D Company. He commanded Sherman's and a Pershing (his tanks kill of a Tiger in Cologne is documented in The history of the Pershing). You don't have to like these guys, but they saved the world. They paid the price so you don't have to.

One of the things about the US tanks vs. German tanks in WW2 was that it was a quality against quantity war. The American tanks were like the jeeps and trucks, just complicated enough to work and be effective, but not anywhere near the best gear on the field. But they were easily manufactured and easily repaired and parts could be salvaged from them. The German tanks were often works of engineering wonder. They were designed beautifully and were manufactured to demanding standards, but they required skilled technicians to repair and could not be manufactured anywhere near the numbers the Americans. A loss of a german tank was a big deal to their forces. if an american tank broke down, they stripped what they could and got another one much quickly out on the field.

IMO. Germany was a vastly more technically advanced military than we were. But! The problem with technology is that repairs can be difficult and time consuming. I believe that the radio systems in German tanks were using FM radios and was more advanced than our tanks.
Again. Look at the German battleship Bismarck. It was state of the art for its time. The Brits got lucky dropping a torpedo from a Biplane that jammed her rudder. Germany also had the the first missiles, the V1 and V2 rockets and they also had the first jet fighter in the Me~262.
It is phosphorus it starts burning when exposed to air and does not stop until expended.
God bless all of the tank crews who went into battle in Europe with our early Shermans knowing that they were outclassed by superior main battle tanks, with little chance to survive such confrontations! God bless the real “War Daddy” and the actual tank crew of Fury, upon which this movie is based. God bless all the courageous veterans with nerves of steel who risked everything and sacrificed so much to protect our countries and preserve the freedoms we enjoy today! God bless all the souls - military and civilian - that we have lost in times of war! God bless America! God bless us all and grant us peace!
I love this film, a lot of it is very realistic except for the last fight part.
I've seen the movie, missed the premier/chat. This one certainly contrasts high ideals with the ugly horror that is war and the varied human elements. Freedom surely isn't free. Happy Independence Day.

This movie is epic love it, I lm a big fan of this channel but this edit its too much, you cut so many important scenes to the story line and plot. This was a disappointing reaction for me. Sorry! And im sure im not the only one saying this!
But there are some fun-facts about it. Brad Pitts “war daddy” Character is based on a real person. His name was Lafayette G Pool. He is known as America’s Tank ace of world war 2. He managed to destroy 12 tanks, and over 250+ Armored vehicles in under 90 days on the western front. He was awarded with multiple awards like the Silver Star, France’s legion of honour, Distinguished Service Cross (2nd highest award under the Medal of Honor). He is buried in the Sam Houston National Cemetery.
The Tiger tank battle near the end of the movie was played by a Tiger 131, captured nearly intact in WW2 and it is the only remaining operational Tiger 1 in the world. The 131 lives at a tank museum in Britain, and rolls out in displays once in a blue moon. It only got hit in the gun mantle so wasn’t that damaged was just jammed hence they abandoned the tiger but normally they use death charges with a pin with a timer so this doesn’t happen they was even a tiger manual with instructions on this.
Side note: The reason the tank battle looked like two morons were driving was because they were given specific instructions in which they were only allowed to move the tiger forward and backwards. They couldn't turn or move at an angle due to the old nature of the tank and potential damages. Keep up the good work.

The New guy always gets Hazed. That crew had been in Combat since North Africa in 1942. Battle takes nice guys and turns them hard. They had seen a lot of death in two years, friend and foe alike. It is always evident when you see a war movie that neither one of you served. If you are going to watch a movie like this you need to have a Veteran sitting there with you. You are not really stupid. You just don't know. In this, you are naive. It can't be helped. You didn't like those guys. The Army does not ask you who you want to serve with. You just have to do your job and protect each other. Those of us who served know that time in Service is usually not a thing to be enjoyed. It is a thing to be endured. That said. Those of us who have endured, would not trade the experience. The Military experience changes you. It is unavoidable. It is why Veterans give other Veterans deference. If you are around men who have served, nothing needs to be said. If you are around men who never served, They can not understand. No amount of speaking cane fix that. I could put names on those guys from my own experience. They were good men, dealing with Post Traumatic Stress while continuing to participate in and witness more and more trauma. They can not close their eyes or cover with their blanket to make it go away. They have to do their job and protect each other. Ya the language was rank. That's war and that's military. Try defending Liberty without them. A Soldier is never appreciated or understood until the enemy is at the gates. 17 million illegals have come into America in the past 3 1/2 years. They are not all Latino. There are at least a million Chinese and Russians. and Islamists in the ranks of the Illegal Immigrants. The Enemy is inside our gates. When things get out of hand, don't hide under the blanket. Get behind the grouchy old American Legion guy and He will defend you until he is dead. He knows. He has walk that road before. You don't like him now, ... But you will love him in that day.
I hope Toni was wearing a seat belt with all those jump scares.

American tanks could not penetrate German Tiger tank frontal armor. America took out the German tigers by having numerous tanks taking on one. The weak part on the Tiger was the rear of the tank. Also American tanks usually put logs on the side and parts or anything they could on the tank to slow the projectile before it hit the main armor. Tiger front only really had two weak points the drivers opening. And if you could fire a shot directly down their barrel detonating a round in the barrel or get a bullet lodged in the barrel so if they fired their gun would explode. Basically an impossible shot at that time.
A Pershing could absolutely knock out a Tiger.
They couldn't give up cause the mission said they were all that the army had between the SS battalion and the camp of women and doctors. They held the x road to save lives.

I think you did wonderful with the final battle edit. Don't let the comments get you down. We get it. They're brothers forged through the fire of battle and so on. Now we get to the great tank scene.
Yeah no offense, but a lot of this film and the tank crew’s relationship is going over your heads. You’re forgetting… They’re at WAR. And have been for 3 years and could die at any moment. And for 3 years have witnessed and down the worst of humanity. I’m not a vet or solider, but people don’t really grasp just everything solider experience on the front. Yeah they’re not gonna act super friendly, they’re gonna be a bit cold and jaded. Not always, but 9/10, they tend to be NO BULLSHIT kind of people that say and do almost pretty much what they want.
The crew is so cold with Norman at the start because they just lost a pretty much BROTHER (Red) right at the start of the film if you remember? So they’re in mourning, but war mourning where you can’t and don’t really have time to grief/cry. War Daddy (Brad Pitt) even tells Norman not to get too close to anybody. They’re treating him cold so he and they don’t get attached to each other in case he dies. Did you guys not pick up on that AT ALL?
I don’t know what you were expecting. Saving Private Ryan? Band of Brothers? They’re great no doubt and hopeful, but this, The Pacific, Downfall, Come and See, Generation Kill takes a more objective cold look at war.

Also keep saying this Germany had the most advanced planes, tanks, ships, submarines yet they still lost. America needs to remember that tech did not win WWII numbers did and cheap equipment. For instance I still disagree them retiring the A-10 plane. A very cheap and effective plane. Why replace something not broken. If they made a new variant just as cheap and effective then ok.

As well as being jealous he’s speeding time with Norman when he’s been with them longer. Fury is much deeper than first time viewers and (no offense, GENUINELY) normies give it credit for. You’re not the first, so it’s not an issue to me.

fury is, at best, fanfiction of a movie, but, its entertaining, if you think that is historic at all then you're deluded, setting does rise up for... whatever you want to use the word for it
This was not a fun time in human history. 80+ million dead, the most casualties from a war in all of human history. Europe and two Japan cities in rumble (I’m anti-war and Nukes, but had to be done, the emperor wouldn’t surrender and a lot of Japanese fought it he better end and on TH-cam the plan to invade mainland Japan, would’ve cost more lives and stretched the war longer)… A lot of people were not very “hopeful” after the war.
Bad editing kills the experience.

I would say excessive copyright claims are more to blame.
The Tiger Scene is horribly inaccurate. While it's a real Tiger 1 (The only one still running) the Sherman's 75 mm gun could penetrate the frontal armor at 3-500+ meters easily, and the uparmed Firefly version Fury (Which the US did not use, that was a British only model) could penetrate the front armor of a Tiger at nearly 1km. So while it's dramatic and makes for good story telling, it's very inaccurate.
The 88 that the Tiger I and Tiger II used and the Panther 75 both had the ability to penetrate the Armor of a Sherman at equitable distances.
Highly overrated movie from a historic standpoint. I don't understand why people who know nothing about WW2 love movies that are inaccurate.
I really just wish that the folks making this film had not been so quick to make so many unrealistic choices in depicting the tank combat and a few other things...it is such a great movie in so many ways but could have been so much better. David Ayer is a really good director, but it seems like he should probably not try to deal with historical subjects...considering his work on his other WW2 movie U-571 is even more inaccurate than this film. I fully appreciate that some things have to be different than actual history sometimes, but this movie did a few too many things that are just completely against the real history for seemingly no real reason. There are such great acting performances in this movie, but it could have been so much better if they had gone the realistic route. IMHO
