I had a ticket for this reading at Reading but had to have chemotherapy and couldn't go. Just found the TH-cam recording Thank you. It brought me to tears. My beautiful Irish mother read the poem to me aged about 12 sixty years ago it had a profound effect on me then and still moves me enormously today.
The late 1800's and the 1970's are, to me 2 of the most captivating eras ever comitted to history. seeing 2 of their respective icons interact like this is amazing. i wanted to go to this but it was sold out. thanks for uploading
i forced myself to watch it till the end, but still i cant get any emotions from her reading... and i do cry every time i read the original. she may be a great singer, but this does not do justice to her or the script
gian g, I stopped listening too. I have watched the Trials of Oscar Wilde. (I am not such a fan of poetry as I am of prose.) I will try to read it to myself. I love those older free reads!
amazing. simply amazing. thank you for making this available.

Liam Carr agreed
Wilde converted to Catholicism later after leaving prision. I have always found very moving De Profundis. May he rest in God
May he rest in an ocean of love and light 🙏🏻🌟
Very emotional reading. I also love how P Smith stresses the consonants.
Wild is wind ...(a favorite of mine) fits nicely in to this plus of Saint Oscar.🌻
Thank you, Patti. Blessings. (Adriana Janaína Poeta/ Clube de Leitura dos Poetas)
Wow!
precious. if I wanted numb read I would not have breathed heavily for Patti Smith.
Watched while listening to Abul Mogard. Ethereal.
This is ethereal
This beautiful letter deserved more artistic quality than this.
I have an idea. She could read it slower.
this is just awful. is she falling asleep while reading?? no feelings, no emotions, no nothing
gian g, You should give it a go.

Patti Smith is disgraceful artist who defaced genius.
Well, sorry to say that she almost ruined the text. There is a reading by Neil Bartlett, in TH-cam too, takes to to heaven. Fantastic .
It is a very disgraceful reading. Shame on u. You should never read Oscar Wilde again.
I could not sit thru this.....
