    • @bawkher
      @bawkher 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

You didn't understand any of it did you? The sheikh was trying to get malhm to commit to the rules and he was getting away and not committing. The reason for fixing the rules is the man was using one yardstick for himself and another when it came to proving Jesus was returning to earth. Without laying out the rules of proof its not possible to argue. Mufti kept insisting is the coming of Jesus coming back written in the quran. He didn't want to use secondary or third sources of knowledge. Yet to prove the khilafa of Hazrat Ali he had used secondary sources. One thing essential in debate is to fix the rules so neither party can cheat.

@@bawkher Rules. You really sat there for those 2 hours and ended up with the conclusion "Mashallah, Sheikh Asrar you're a bloody good debater?" He spent 2 hours asking questions that have nothing to do with the discussion. He spent 2 hours arguing moot points. In any professional debate or even just a normal conversation over a cup of tea, does it start the way this one did? 2 hours of just repeating and deflecting. Honestly, he was more disrespectful to Mufti Abu Layth than Abu Layth was to him. Your Sheikh Asrars demeanour was disgusting, he refused to let anyone else talk telling Mufti Abu Layth off, when he himself had launched into bloody monologues. His aggressiveness was just wacky dude. Mufti Abu Layth made one or two errors I agree 100%. I feel he should've just answered Asrars nonsensical question to disarm him and not allow him to divert because it was clear 100% that Asrar was incapable of discussing the issue of Isa (AS) with him. I also believe he shouldn't have hammered the "do you believe Jesus is better than the Prophet (PBUHAHF)". Since it states in the Quran ch 2 that Allah (SWT) makes no distinction between his messengers.
The Prophet (PBUHAHF) could not raise the dead as Allah (SWT) had not given him the ability to do so in his life. If we are talking capability then every single person on this Earth is capable of raising the dead since the ability to raise the dead or perform any miracle is possible through Allah (SWT) and whoever Allah (SWT) should will to perform this will perform this. So they were arguing a moot point again.

Respect has to be there I think this is what Sheikh Asrar was trying to get across as he didn't feel comfortable debating with someone who thinks it's fine to throws jokes in-between quoting Hadith or Quranic verse, who doesn't understand the adab of debate.
Scholars don't debate in this manner.
Asrar is correct in reminding him to be accurate with his quotations and remember the adab.

What the heck! What an absolute shamble. Shaykh Asrar- What on earth are you doing? You had a hundred chances to engage in a proper discussion when the question was asked to you. Why not answer and begin the debate. You went round in circles about types of discussions- not needed at the time as all you have to do is talk about the subject. You failed here miserably. Well done to Muft Abu Layth for staying professional all the way.

  • @911shan

To be honest, I totally understand the Sheikh's perspective. They needed to establish the rules of the debate. Otherwise, one will not agree to the principles of debating each other, and it would just go around in circles anyway. Abu Layth also kept dodging the question of Ali R.A and how to prove the establishment of his Caliphate. Because if he agreed, then he agrees to Ijma (consensus of the population), in which case his entire Aqedah about Isa ibn Mariyam R.A becomes useless. Therefore, this debate was forever going to run in circles because the principles of the debate differ between both of them. Conversely, the Sheikh could not admit that just the Qur'an's accounts are enough for this debate, because the Qur'an makes general statements regarding this issue. Furthermore, they would have had to agree upon which types of Hadiths would be accepted, such as Sahih, Hassan, Zaaif, etc.
I believe, that Mufti Abu Layth is wrong in this discussion. Because for this debate, he is purposefully leaving out Ijma. One could ask him, how he follows the Maliki school of Islamic Jurisprudence, if he does not agree with Ijma. And that is exactly where the problem lies. Since Abu Layth does not follow consensus of populations (especially Islamic scholars), he has made tattoos legal, drinking legal (to an extent), drug use legal, bank interest legal (to an extent), etc etc. He loosely follows the Maliki fiqh, but chooses to differ on any matter of Ijma. That is why his whole law system isn't Maliki, it's "A Specific Rendition of the Maliki Fiqh: by Mufti Abu Layth".

Abu Layth just wanted a free flow discussion . This thing didn't even get off the ground . I agree. Up until 24.32 there was very little/zero progress or actual discussion. The topic not just of the belief in the descent of Jesus but the reason for his being taken up , and the reason for the extention on his life ie his actual existence in the first place , does create an expansive foundation for the richest of topical discussions . Unfortunately , I don't think there was the will or the desire on Sheikh Asrar's part to carry it forward. As much as Sheikh Abu Layth wanted it. Maybe. If Abu Layth just decided to stay quiet and let Sheikh Asrar say whatever he wanted, until he got tired of it, maybe then the conversation could have started . I understand where SH. Abu Layth is coming from, & sympathise with the fact that as a Muslim , his 'fault' should have either been ignored or given minimum airtime . It seems however that SH. Israr wasn't going to be satisfied until he got him to admit his fault and apologise publicly on screen on top of it all, before anything could even move forward . And then. The conversation happened in SH. Abu Layth's home. There should have at least been some respect for that, & an element of informality / leaway could or should have been given to help the discussion to move forward . But it did seemingly not . I don't agree with Abu Layth's view by the way, on the 'non return' of Jesus. Which is why I think this would have been a very important discussion to have. Maybe next time.

everyone is blaming Asrar - but i dont think people realize how a debate and a conversation to such a degree like this should be established before moving forward - ESPECIALLY IF RECORDED FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN
asrar is asking these other questions in regard to ijima for a REASON, its a socrates tactic actually - not that hes some greek lover lol but its a good way to have someone contradict themselves - because Layth does take certain understandings via sahih hadiths only (which is honorable, yes) of the prophet but he ALSO uses the consensus of the sahabah and the umala in other matters but not on this very matter - which Asrar is trying to show he doesn’t believe in it off his arbitrary opinion (which is okay), but thats what Asrar was trying to establish
and I am not saying Asrar is right in this debate or that Layth is wrong WHATSOEVER (in regard to whether Isa is coming back)- but if anyone cant see why Asrar is trying to drill these questions before talking straight away about Isa is not too knowledgable in these matters - and I disagree with both these men in many things - though I am a fan that neither of them are some strict modern salafists who say they dont blind follow in aqeedah but literally do so with Ibn Taymiyyah - which is FINE- but I cant stand when they dont admit it and just say my aqeedah is the “Quran and Sunnah” ….. as if everyones aqeedah besides themselves is not an interpretation of the “Quran and Sunnah” - smh

If you look at the Arabic, Jesus does not appear by name in that verse. Rather, a pronoun/article is used and it is assumed that it refers to Jesus because he is mentioned by name two verses earlier.
However, some translators think that the pronoun is just an article.
Others think it refers to Jesus' first coming since the verse two earlier talks about his past life.

I really am against ABU LAYTHS beliefs but sheikh Asrars debating style is so embarrassing and NITPICKING that even after everything I have mentioned above ; I SAY ABU LAYTH HAS WON THIS DEBATE despite Asrar being more on the HAQQ than ABU LAYTH can ever be.
    What a shame Asrar.
Despite having more of the HAQQ on your side than Abu layth you have done a terrible job, just because of how you conduct yourself in debates.
It is shameful that you did not stick to your principles, how embarrassing you have become.
Brother put your personal ego & agendas aside and fight with the HAQQ on your side and even a 1000 Abu Layths would not have the courage to come in front of you.
    Don’t mess it up.
Allah SWT has given you this knowledge and skill for a reason.
Rethink your approach and start over again brother with a clear slate.

Also, Shaykh Asrar had a very strong point that Isa (AS) could raise the dead and he did. Rasoolullah (SAW) may have been able to but didn't. Because of Allah's will. So if Isa (AS)'s presence can establish world peace, it's also possible because of the will of Allah

muhammad saw could not raise the dead, neither could isa. allah raised the dead whenever isa wanted that dead person to become alive. if prophet muhammad saw wouldn't even do that because he hasn't been given that authority to ask in the first place while isa was. the only proven thing in the hadith was that prophet muhammad saw was able to heal in some cases but not "unlimited" in the sense how isa was able to heal because one might wonder why he didnt heal his own wife or children? he obviously made dua for them but they still died by the will of allah so this idea that muhammad could do all the things previous prophets did is not true. he was given some things while they were given some things. like suleiman controlling jinn and the wind for example. muhammad saw was given the quran which greater miracle than anything previously done by the messengers

Why is this so hard to debate? 1.) Prophet Muhammad wasn't given the option to 'establish world peace', it wasn't God's will at the time to allow that yet... 2.) This hadith is about the END TIMES. After the enemies of Islam are destroyed. After armageddon. It's not solely BECAUSE OF JESUS DESCENDING, it's because this is simply a period in the future where Allah will establish world peace, and Jesus will be given the role to complete that.

This is why rules of the debate are set beforehand so they dont end up talking over each other!

Think this Asrar has been defeated one too many debates against Mufti Sahib and tried to denigrate him by making him apologise over something so trivial. Pretty pathetic. Well done Abu Layth for being patient in the face of ignorance

Principles of debate are essential. What is happening, is a lack of appreciation for the framework in which the debate should be governed.

Abu Layth avoiding answering questions that were put to him to establish the principles of debate. E.g. do you accept khilafah of Abu Bakr and Ali? If he had answered, they would be able to establish the authenticity of ijma'a.

Asrar calls certain people he 'debates' as ignorant. It's clear that title of 'ignorant' suits Asrar perfectly.
Abu Laith is one of my least favourite personalities anyway.

Am a muslim but Asrar needs to upgrade his skills, I saw him in many debates he is very arrogant and big headed, I saw him debating with muslims he is very arrogant he needs to study debate skills
