    I took an 8 months career break (6mths + 2 mths of job seach). Worked out well.

    Singapore may not for many of us who value work life balance. Govt Wonder why we don’t want to have kids.

    You are lucky,your wife have a job and also she took a lead to run the family..

    Taking a career break mean you are living on your buffered savings or putting the financial burdern onto your family or spouse. If you are able to live like that without guilt or shame i supposed you could take a career break.

      Not necessarily. It depends on the dynamic of the relationship, and if the other spouse considers it a burden. Some spouses encourage their partner to take a career break especially if it’s for their mental health. I’ve taken career breaks in each time. I’ve had a job after. I’m a great interviewer and it’s not a matter of me finding a job or being marketable, a career break could be necessary for a variety of reasons
